Summary: The ability to download apps from the android market can add a whole new different dimension to the phone. Web browsing on the phone is great, loads up pages pretty fast. The built in gps still works if you don't have 3g or wifi turned on which is very useful. The widgets adds more depth into the phone, the screen is amazing its very crystal clear. Calling and messenging becomes quite fun with this phone.
Overall the phone is a joy to use, I spent hours playing around with the phone. The apps are the backbone of this phone they just add so much more spark into the phone! -
Great Android PHone
by shoegal1490 on April 7, 2011
Pros: Great interface. Really slick looking and good quality camera.
Cons: Sometimes lags which means that you will have to force close applications to improve the speed of the phone. Also, would be easier with a physical keyboard to do things like type smses.

Summary: We bought this phone for our daughter for Christmas, the rest of us got iphone 4's. We selected this phone for our daughter because she is younger and we wanted a phone that would withstand a rougher enviroment. Now I don't know if the slug slow performance is the Android 2.1 operating system or the phone itself, but it PALES in comparison to the speed and connectivity reliabilty of the i4! There is no comparison at all. All 4 of our phones are through Virgin Canada, so it's not their issue, it's an Android/HTC issue. VERY disappointing. If you're thinking of an Android phone cuz you're sold on Android, or you see an Android phone at a better price or whatever reason, DON"T GO THERE! It is NOT worth it! Talk to people you know who have an Android phone and others who have an i4 and maybe get a first hand demo, you will not or should not go the HTC Android route. VERY disappointing! The i4 totally destroys the Android program! I will be contacting Virgin and try and get my daughter out of this sluggish chunk of tin. I'll let you know how that goes.
Follow up to the above comment; we upgraded to Android 2.2 on the HTC Lengend when it was made available, I think it was April. While the upgrade made the phone "look" better, there were also some mild performance improvements.THAT lasted maybe a few days. Soon the Legend/Android started locking up causing my daughter to frequently remove the battery and replace. Messages, web pages, pictures sometimes never loaded, and when they did it was super slow most the time. On a few occaisions, the phone would pick 20-30 maybe 40 archived text messages and re-send them at random to their original recipients. And yes we maintained that phone! Always updated, used task killers, monitored running programs etc, still this Android/HTC was a dog. Also, some of my co-workers have other Android phones on other carrirers, Galaxy, Desire, Erickson, NONE perform up to the iPhone 4. So about 2 months ago we wangled a deal with Virgin to get her out of the Legend and into the i4. She's shockingly delighted

Can Not use the Phone due to Rebooting issues
by pormiston on March 9, 2011
Pros: Seductive Interface
Gmail Account Synchronizing (calendar, contacts, etc.)
Bright Screen
Aluminum ChassisCons: Phone Spontaneously Reboots
Sometimes have to pull the battery to end a call
Contacts Interface could be improved for sending text message to the right numberSummary: Love the Aluminum chassis, screen and Android OS on this phone but unfortunately these features don't out weigh the crippling rebooting issue.

I love the feel of the phone in you hand it has a nice amount of weight and doesn't feel cheap. The screen is super bright and has great resolution.
While I'm in my home area I find I can use the phone most of the time without an issue, but when I travel in certain areas the phone renders itself useless. I've noticed in areas I frequent whenever a call comes in my phone (the HTC Legend) will ring once then reboot. This will occur for every single call. If I try to dial out and make a call I'll be able to talk for a maximum of one minute and then my phone will reboot.
I've tried various combination of using the phone with certain services off (i.e. WiFi, GPS, Mobile Networks, and Bluetooth) but this didn't make a difference. No matter what when in certain urban and rural areas the phone will reboot.
I sent the phone away for repair of this issue. The loner phone I received was a brand new HTC Legend and it too had the exact same problem as my phone constant reboots. This now shows that there's a severe problem with the HTC Legend since this brand new phone had nothing on it (no apps or add-ons) and continued to reboot as bad as my phone.
When my original phone was returned the service report said they had re-flashed the ROM and so going home from work that evening I called my wife and can you guess why my call was ended? Phone rebooted.
I guess another advantage for this phone that I forgot to mention is that you'll never have to press the end call button because the phone will reboot and end your call automatically. -
Amazing phone that can stand toe to toe with the iPhone
by vacuum24400 on December 25, 2010
Pros: - Very vibrant display
- Compact and light
- Great reception for calls/msging
- Easy to sync with a variety of accounts (fbook, gmail...)
- Extremely smooth UI, a lot more power than its specs indicate
- Great multimedia features (esp. music player)Cons: - Battery life could be better (certain phone management apps can help to keep only the essential features running to maximize battery life)
- Camera is good during day but not so great at night
- Wifi reception tends to be "low" but performance goodSummary: This phone really shows off the amazing features of android. In the past 3 years I've owned an iPhone, a Blackberry Curve and now this. It easily matches the ...
Summary: This phone really shows off the amazing features of android. In the past 3 years I've owned an iPhone, a Blackberry Curve and now this. It easily matches the features/performance of all these phones and I personally prefer the android OS to iPhone so far, much more customizable and less restriction in terms of apps. The apps available are easily the best part of this phone. Google maps with navigation literally makes this phone a GPS nav system with full capabilities and then some!
If you are looking to give android a try and you aren't a power smart-phone user (less than a gig data/month), this phone definitely deserves your consideration. HTC and Google are two brands that I have always trusted because they produce quality devices/software and this duo will continue to push the boundaries of what you can expect from your phone. If you're looking for a sleek phone with lots of capabilities and a great OS, check out the Legend... you won't be disappointed. -

The HTC legend is the iphone SLAYER
by chippendales_newest on July 15, 2010
Pros: Loved that I could drag and drop all of my music and files to this phone lilke a flash drive WITHOUT having to go through itunes. It was either buy a new PC capable of handling the itunes beast or buy a new android phone, so I bought the Legend. :)
Cons: The earbuds supplied with my legend were a little too large for my earholes. Getting my yahoo mail account on the phone was not super easy, only google gmail was streamlined. I'm sure it can be done, it will just take me some time to figure out.

Summary: Lets just suffice it to say that the HTC Legend really kicks some iphone 3G butt. I Love the FM radio feature. I love the solid aluminum case. As a previous iphone 3G owner, I love that I can avoid the itunes pit of music software torture. As a the owner of a Windows based PC that is 10 years old, I found that if I installed itunes (necesscary to communicate with my iphone), it would either crash Windows XP, or make it run so terribly slow, that I would have to immediately uninstall it, and my PC would forever run at half the speed! Itunes also always made itself my default media player, even when I opted to keep Winamp or Windows media player as my default media player! That was SOOOO anoying! Itunes should really be called Apple's Trojan Horse for Windows. It was either that I had to buy a new PC just to accomadate the combersome itunes (just to accomadate getting music on my phone) or buy a Mac. Nice Try, but NO THANK YOU, Mr. Steve Jobs....So I bought the HTC Legend instead. I love that I can drag and drop files onto my HTC like a flash drive. The camera flash works well. It does video. I love that the battery, SIM card, Micro SD card (up to 32MB) are all removable. I paid over $300 dollars to break out of my contract with my old carrier just so that I could abort ever using an apple product ever again. This phone will actually display web pages that have FLASH. Doesn't have the anoying problem that my iphone had of the vibrate/ring toggle slider got accidentally switched when I put it in my pocket. The touch screen is awesome.
Don't even bother with an iphone, save yourself the hassle, and buy the HTC legend! -
