The good: The HTC One S manages to pack Android ICS, Sense 4, and a feature-filled camera into one of the slimmest phones on the market.
The bad: The One S' svelteness comes at the cost of no SD card expansion slot or removable battery.

Superb quality in a perfect form factor

Pros: Build quality, camera performance, battery life, HTC enhanced OS, perfect form factor, great screen, very fast, runs circles around the plastic competition...and looks amazing, too
Cons: None so far

Summary: I love this phone...excellent OS, fast, looks miles better than the iphone, all metal body beats the pants off the creaky plastic competition I've owned (Samsung Galaxy, Google Nexus) and the size is just perfect. Superb camera, great shooting speed. Amazing battery life compared to my previous phones. Of course I dont stream videos all day, or play onlne games on it. With Skype, browsing, texting and voice I get in excess of 50 hrs per charge if I put the phone in Flight Mode during the night (10pm to 7am)

Poor Design
by viagarwal on March 26, 2013

Big bright screenCons: Bluetooth issues
Awkward DesignSummary: Though specs on paper look decent, this phone not ergonimically designed.

1. The home button is very sensitive and very close to the type-panel that appears when you type something. Unless one is extremely careful, the phone will go back to home screen in middle of typing an email or text message. Worse, if the app doesn't save drafts, one may have to re-type.
2. Power / Sleep key on the top is very difficult to press without also pressing the volume key on the side. One has to to hold phone in one hand and press the key with the other to ensure one doesn't change volume settings.
3. Picking the phone has a awkward "pull the green button into the ring" design. Means you can't pick the phone without carefully looking into it. Unlike i-Phone for example.
4. Bluetooth - Seemingly HTC has this a 'known issue' for more than a year now. How can something as basic as bluetooth be a known issue and not release an update? Says something about the company. -
HTC comes through with a good product!

Summary: I've had other HTC productss in the past nad I was NOT happy at all. As a matter of fact, one of my phones almost blew up on my hip due to heating problems. But I have been quite impressed with this HTC One S. It has done everything I need it to do and more. The only con is the fact you can't bump up storage due to lack of a micro sd card slot. I would give it a 5 if it had this feature. It woulf keep me from alternating my movies and music. Other tan that, it's an awesome phone and look forward to their next release.

Beautiful screen, Sleek, But big problems!
by eacost on January 12, 2013
Pros: Small
Great screen
Good Sound
User FriendlyCons: Power Button falling out (first phone)
Locking up (second phone)
Call Quality (third phone)

Summary: Got this phone and it was running great for 6 weeks, then the power button fell out. Could not turn off or on. Got a replacement and it would run for about 15 minutes and then the phone would lockup, could not make any calls. After a minute or so network disconnects and reconnects. This cycle would go on for some time. This happens while on the 4G network with 5 bars of signal strength.
Got another replacement it is running good but the sound quality for the person I am calling is horrible. They cannot tell what I am saying at all. I am calling T-Mobile support again to get another phone. Who knows with that phone will do or not do.
Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data does not include tethering? Despite multiple assurances from T-Mobile that my unlimited data plan would stay unchanged, I did lose the ability to tether the phone for free. With the new model I am asked to pay an additional $20 per month to add this feature. I was told that now that T-Mobile SUPPORTS tethering, they are charging for it. So for the last three years tethering was un-supported? -
Fantastic device, best Android I've ever used!
by AndroidLuvr on January 1, 2013
Pros: Gorgeous design and paint job- not another black slab.
Never a single force close w/ few other glitches.
Always strong, no lag with apps.
Great camera.
Good battery life for size.Cons: Could use a dedicated camera button.
Summary: Cream of the crop for anyone who wants a Goldilocks phone- not too big, not too small, just right.

More of a taplet than a phone
by soldier0811 on June 15, 2012
Pros: Fast, camera is awesome, light phone.
Cons: I have had the phone one week and had to reboot 2 times due to different crashes. Phone no longer had 4G but the Tmobile guy next to me did, had to reboot phone. Fixed problem. Phone showed no charge in battery had to reboot, fixed problem.

Weak and unreliable network connectivity
by censoredbytmobile on May 9, 2012
Pros: Beautiful screen
Sleek design (though a little big, at times need to use both hands to navigate, and I have big hands.)
User friendly
Fast processor, no delays navigating the phone.Cons: 4-7 times a day network connection freezes, unable to make calls. After a minute or so network disconnects and reconnects. Happens on 4G, 2G, 1-5 bars of signal strength, etc...
Wifi reception poor.
Short battery lifeSummary: I submitted review below at T-mobile's website. It was censored, so I am posting it here.

BTW a day after factory re-install, problem remains. Network has frozen three times today. The last time it would not even reconnect automatically, nor manually. Had to reset access points.
T-Mobile customer for 9 years. Had this phone for 1 week. Compared to my previous MyTouch 3G here are my findings:
1. IF YOU HAVE WEAK WIFI SIGNAL FORGET THIS PHONE. My previous phone worked in my office, where we have very weak signal. This one does not even pick up the network, let alone connect to it.
2. MAJOR NETWORK PROBLEMS. This might not be phone related but tmobile network related. However, problem did not happen with previous phone, and customer rep could not rule out problem with phone (see below). Essentially, 4G network freezes up, internet stops loading, and phone reports problem with network connection. Network switches off automatically and comes back on. This happens 4-7 times a day, irrespective of signal strength (e.g. number of bars). Customer rep told me they have a 4G "delay" problem, and they are working on software patch, but it should not be switching off. Had to do factory reinstall. Will see what happens.
3. BATTERY If you plan to read blogs on the train on way to work; check out emails during coffee break, lunch and tea, then power it up at the desk or count on your battery running out before getting home. Pretty screen will eat up your battery in a flash. I hate to thing what battery life will be in a year after some wear -- and you cannot replace the battery....
4. FEW SMILEYS Silly comment, but if you use Google chat and are used to having access to a 12 or so smileys off the keyboard (as in previous phone), here you'll get 4-5.
5. APP BLOAT T-mobile loaded, impossible to uninstall.
6. START UP JINGLE When you start phone you get a quiet HTC welcome screen, about serenity and all that, then you get a t-mobile welcome screen with a droid robot firing off into space with a loud jingle. Makes you look stupid if in the middle of a business meeting. I suppose t-Mobile CEO is not using this phone, or he'll be embarrassed. Did they have an intern do this?
Updated on May 9, 2012
Updated on Jun 25, 2012Finally had to ship in phone for replacement. The new phone works fine so far, though the wi-fi keeps on loosing the connection despite sitting right next to the router.
Also, despite multiple assurances from T-mobile that my unlimited data plan would stay unchanged, I did loose the ability to tether the phone for free. With the new model I am asked to pay an additional $10 per month or so to access this feature.
Customer rep says this is too bad, that tethering was never part of the old service, but a mistake from T-mobile. They've now corrected that problem and I will have to pay for it.
That is not what i was led to expect when multiple reps assured me that upgrading the phone would in no way affect my rate plan and level or service. I will send formal complaint to BBB. -
This is a great phone. The build quality is excellent.
by Digita1One on May 7, 2012
Pros: 1 Battery Life: I have consistently gotten over 15 hours of battery life. Running widgets on all 7 screens.
2 Build quality. Looks and feels great.
3 The personalize features in ICS/Sense that let me change the look and feel of the phone on the fly.Cons: 1. T-mobile apps cannot be removed only disabled.
2. Not a fan of the Sense keyboard. I didn't like how the predictive text worked. Switched to SwiftKey XSummary: A lot of people say T-Mobile does not carry high end phones but I think this should change their minds. This is flat out one of the best phones I ...
Summary: A lot of people say T-Mobile does not carry high end phones but I think this should change their minds. This is flat out one of the best phones I have ever used. ICS with Sense takes a little getting used to but if you are a true fan of Android you will pick it up quickly. The screen is very good.
The battery life is great. I regularly get 15 hours. HTC did a good job with Sense4.
