HTC Touch Pro2 price range: $110.99 - $119.99

The good: The HTC Touch Pro2 features a sharp, spacious touch screen and an easy-to-use full QWERTY keyboard. The Windows Mobile smartphone also includes conference call management tools for business users and offers good call quality. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The bad: The smartphone is heavy and bulky. No U.S. 3G support on this version and it's expensive. Onboard memory is low, and we would have liked an upgraded camera.
The bottom line: With a feature set to match its large size, the HTC Touch Pro2 will be a great device for power and business users once it finally hits North America and adds U.S. 3G support.

Summary: I purchased this product in hopes it was all it was said to be. HTC did an amazing job with the phones design, but Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional ruined it's chance as a decent smart phone. The phone is overly heavy and the touch screen isn't very responsive. I can't even tell you how many people I called just scrolling through my contacts because of having to put to much pressure. The operating system itself was a disappointment. It seemed like every time I tried to do something a program froze up. It would rather be the program I was using, or a background program. I would lock my phone then unlock it and some of the lock screen would be glitched at the bottom or top of the screen this also happened with the slow responding start menu. Windows marketplace doesn't offer very many apps compared to a BlackBerry or iPhone. On the plus side, the phones camera was amazing and so was the slide out keyboard and it was comfortable to text with. The browser is also pretty amazing for a smart phone, especially when using Skyfire over Internet Explorer. Overall, I was dissatisfied with this products ability as a pocket PC and mostly it's operating system.

I should have gone with the iphone...
by UnhappySteve on January 1, 2010
Pros: suppose to sync with Outlook. time display on main screen is very large. Good at sliding the photosI like the spkr phone feature is way cool! the feature when you take phone from ear the screen turns on and when you put it to your ear it turns off.
Cons: often freezes when sync. with windows &has to delete all date on the phone, any new data is lost (including appointments. Camera image is poor, even on best quality setting. phone is very slow and doesn't speed up with 3G. I will sell mine on ebay.

Summary: I really should have purchased the iphone, which is what i'll be doing tomorrow. I bought the phone because of the microsoft syncing ability and being able to keep appointments on phone. I have three lines on the account and thought it would be better to get a different phone (my previous phone, T-mobile DASH, wouldn't sync and after three different phones in 6 months decided to try the newest t-mobile phone.) I have since bought a MACbook and love it but this phone won't sync with it (which I new when I bought the new laptop). These are some of the problems I have with the phone: It is slow, even when the memory isn't over 50%. I have storage card with only 10% on it. The longer I've have the phone, the slower it appears to go.Once you take a picture the image is horrible, even when set at the highest quality! I often have problems while texting, the phone freezes up or nearly comes to a stop. Touch screen isn't very responsive and I can touch the screen numerous times and it doesn't seem to acknowledge it. Now, when I sync with outlook, it has the wrong time on the appointments after this spring's time change. I'll have to figure that out, as I can't have the wrong time, by one hour, on EVERything. The Call History icon on front always has the ! which makes me thing i've missed calls or have a problem with the history. The phone sent two texts two times! often when I press (with pointer or finger) the start icon at top left, the menu drops down but then freezes up the screen. In calendar mode, when it is showing month, it is now very slow to scroll up or down to the next month. It's difficult to figure out how to get a new text message from not being "new" in the drop down menu of the start menu/messaging menu.
This phone was such a waste of money. The old saying is so true with this phone: you get what you pay for. I should have spent the extra money, and taken all three phone lines to AT & T back in July, using phone cost to off set the early termination fees on the contract. I will be more than happy to sell the HTC Touch Pro 2 phone for a really good price!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: The manual says it has a yearly calendar but it only has a day and month. The only way to find contacts in your list is to scroll. There is a jump to the first letter but then you have to scroll. As you scroll it gets stuck. When you take your finger off it ends up stopping on some other contact, which it diligently starts dialing without any further confirmation. The screen will turn itself on all on its own, and when any email, voice mail or call comes in. With this screen coming on the telephone seems to turn the volume off all on its own. This is frustrating because you now can not hear the phone ring. Okay, in the setup you can force a ringing and vibration mode but when the volume gets turned down then you turn it back up again, the setup forced vibration mode turns itself off. The net result is that you miss the subsequent incoming calls. On the contact short list called People you set up a number. Let's say it is a business. You now want to add a second telephone number to a different department. You don't get to customize the label. You are stuck with home, office, fax, radio etc. This needs a serious software update.

Great hardware, poor software.
by Reviewist on September 9, 2009
Pros: For the most part, I like the quality of the phone itself (a physical silence switch would have been nice though). The keyboard is sturdy, the size is not an issue, the battery life is good and the screen is great.
Cons: In short: Windows Mobile. It's glitchy and TouchFlow has its own share of problems. Today the clock froze and I didn't realize it until I was late. When your texts fail to send the phone freezes until they send. Windows Mobile is awful.

Summary: I'm going to preface this by saying that I am OS agnostic. I don't care if the OS is made by Microsoft or Apple or a bunch of open source programmers. If it's good it's good and if it's not I'm going to complain about it.
The stock OS on the phone (while Touch Flow is nice looking) kills the experience for me. Having the X button actually close applications is a step in the right direction but there are so many problems I've encountered so far that I'm considering giving up on this phone. Some of these issues may be resolved when HTC releases their WinMo 6.5 rom and I may just try a different rom to see if I like it better. As it stands, this phone is wildly overpriced and the OS is just plain bad. The phone pad (let's remember, this IS a phone) is not as accessible as it should be and the clock is only visible on one page. The time is probably pretty damn important to anyone who has any business using a business-oriented smartphone like this. Frankly, I like my old Palm better than I like using this phone. HTC hit the ball out of the park as far as the physical phone is concerned but the OS is shoddy at best. It's too bad Android isn't more mature and WebOS isn't available on a more substantial phone.
I plan on giving this phone a couple more weeks and if the other roms available out there for it do not satisfy me I'm probably just going to stick with my trusty old Palm (at least until Nokia's N900 comes out).1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: No restrictions to software upgrades. Super graphics & handset design. You will fall in love with this phone.
Cons: bulky but would feel wierd if it wasnt honestly. Internal memory is not that great but enough.
Summary: I use to hate mobile phone but this just changes everything.

Bigger is better
by Doctin27 on July 23, 2009
Pros: I perfer a larger phone. I have real man hands and I am a road warrior. The keys on most phones, Palm, Blackberry and the like are to small for me to conformably use.
Cons: Reviewers not in the real world or have little girl hands and fingers. Weight and size are not a problem, never has been. Small screens & keyboards makes e-mailing, texting, searching the web diffcult which creates entry errors.
Summary: We need 3-G and 4-G phones that are size for reality not design for small fingers, youth sized hands. Lets get real with the real world and build a phone ...

The Windows phone that converted me to Android
by roadkilldinner on June 8, 2011
Pros: The power button works.
Cons: Touch screen fails continually. I was on Touch Pro 2 number 4 when T-Mobile offered me the G2 in its place.
If there is an operating system for phones slower than Windows Mobile 6, I'll eat my hat.
Functions work when they want to, or simply don't.

Summary: The Touch Pro 2 was the first and last time that I buy a phone without doing research, much less over the phone with a T-Mobile rep. I was told that it was an Android phone (which it certainly wasn't - it came with Windows Mobile 5, "upgradeable" to Mobile 6) and a host of problems to boot. The phone is incredibly slow, even by '09 standards; just scrolling through menus is an agonizing grind of start and stop, and often freeze. I will not miss this phone, ever, and it will continue to serve as a reminder to look at friends' phones first, compare online second, and only then make an informed phone purchase.
Having read through the negative reviews, whose experiences coincided completely with mine, leaves me wondering about the 25 "5 star" reviews. I realize that not everyone is a power user, or needs every application, but this phone failed at so many different things (including being a phone in the first place), that I have to wonder if the negative reviewers and positive reviewers are even talking about the same phone.

Terrible Phone
by RDH7 on May 17, 2011
Pros: It all looks good on paper. And it does have good international reception... at least on T-Mobile.
Cons: Lots of "great" features that are poorly implemented and work inconsistently. It is constantly doing strange things and it's clear the features are not thought through. Also... My battery life is terrible. It often cuts out by 6 PM, even if it haven't
Summary: Stay far away from this phone!!!! WARNING! You will hate it. For that matter, stay far away from any HTC or windows mobile product! When my T-mobile contract is up, ...

Read This Before You Buy

Cons: Windows 6.1, overall bulk, did I already say Windows 6.1

Summary: After about 4 years of waiting for Sprint to come out with a decent phone, I finally bit and got the Touch Pro 2 - which I returned after 3 days. Why? Thought you'd never ask. In short, Windows 6.1. Tragically, the good things about the phone you hear are true - when Windows isn't crashing / locking up / delaying things. Typing in a web address is painfully slow for whatever reason - like there's a background search going on with every character you type. But that's relatively minor. The big deal is that if you're not careful and try to switch tasks too quickly or navigate away from the browser, it routinely locks up. The best analogy I have is that it's like having a cell phone run by Windows 95 (remember the infamous blue screen of death?).
Tragically, if i t weren't for windows, this would probably be a great phone. In fairness, I talked to a guy at a Sprint store who said he loved it and didn't have those issues. I find it hard to believe because I highly doubt the issues I have were relegated solely to my device.
Those issues aside, the thing is very bulky and not the greatest fit in a pocket. So, that being said, the feature set is great but the phone has been bastardized by Microsoft. I just switched to the Samsung Moment and am very pleased so far, with a few quirks aside. Most importantly, the Android operating system (which I've never tried) is very good - fast and responsive. I'll be writing a review on that shortly.
My final advice is to stay the hell away from Sprint - they are a train wreck. But if you're already there like me, this review should help.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

The most amazing phone I've ever had
by Timmy_NL_88 on August 28, 2009
Pros: everything is very user friendly.
easy to set up your e-mail account.
good connectivity
Very handy bluetooth applicationCons: you can run so many programs on the background without noticing that your battery could run out pretty fast. (that's also some kind of pro :) )

my last phone was an HTC X7500 Advantage. as some of you must know that this is HUGE! compared to that phone the HTC Touch Pro 2 is faster, more compact and preforms much better.
For everyone that is still doubting if they would buy this phone I must say BUY IT! you won't regret it.
for the people that would like to watch some movies on their phone i would recommend Core Player. I saw a review that it was the most stable player. and after watching a couple of movies I must say it works perfect!1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
