The good: The HTC Wildfire S is a beautifully built Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset with a decent 5-megapixel camera and lots of additional software features.
The bad: Without compatibility for MetroPCS' LTE network, the Wildfire S is stuck at slow-as-slugs 2.5G speeds. Its small size makes it trickier to maneuver the Web.
The bottom line: Despite its small stature, the HTC Wildfire S is well-crafted and easy on the eye. Unfortunately, a slow data network holds it back.

DON'T WASTE UR MONEY!!!!!!
by carebear420 on February 22, 2012
Pros: I love HTC Sense. Everything except the internal memory is perfect. The size of the screen is fine.texting isn't bad. picture res is ok.
Cons: Vvery little internal memory so u can't download 2 many apps, etc. after a while, i coundn't even open the music player 2 access playlists, etc. or messages, e-mail, etc until i deleted apps. I couldn't even update anything.
Summary: piece of sh*t phone!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T WASTE UR MONEY!!!!!!!!!! When shopping 4 a new phone, ALWAYS find out how much INTERNAL MEMORY it has, not just processor speed/sixe ...
Summary: piece of sh*t phone!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T WASTE UR MONEY!!!!!!!!!! When shopping 4 a new phone, ALWAYS find out how much INTERNAL MEMORY it has, not just processor speed/sixe or what the biggest MicroSD card it'll take. I have an 8GB. It doesn't help unless I listen 2 a lot of music or download a lot of wallpaper. Don't buy this if u prefer 2 have a 'Smart' phone. if there was a way 2 upgrade the 'INTERNAL' memory & not just the external memory, than I wouldn't want another phone already. I just got this phone like 2 months ago & I already want something else. I wanted to use the flashlight app & the ringtone maker app thru HTC Sense but couldn't. It would have potential as a decent phone to buy if it weren't for the crappy memory!! There's no file manager feature to access each individual file to see what else i could delete like files from old apps that i previously uninstalled, etc. There was a system update the other day, i downloaded it but couldn't install it cuz i didn't have 25 mb of free memory even after deleting all the apps i had & some contacts. I even tried 2 figure out how to root my phone to get rid of metropcs's pre-installed apps but that didn't work.

Summary: This phone is nice when it comes to looks, if you are a big fan of web browsing, or texting make sure you get another phone, I knew the keypad was small and I was okay with that because I have small fingers but still didn't work for me, the battery don't last enough, when I'm on the web the phone freezes or it turns off, so unless you are going to use it only to do calls in it this phone is you.

Excellent paperweight.
by katicatlady on September 2, 2012
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, durable, small size fit my tiny hands.
Cons: Phone crashes often, very little built in memory, mediocre web surfing, freezes when sending messages, sometimes the touch screen is so off I'll call a completely random person.
Summary: I regret getting this phone, it was not worth the money. Save yourself the trouble and don't buy it! I was having trouble after using it less than a ...
Summary: I regret getting this phone, it was not worth the money. Save yourself the trouble and don't buy it! I was having trouble after using it less than a month. Right now, after owning the phone for less than a year, it is sitting next to me after one final crash and it will not turn on nor charge. You'd be better of with a brick nokia phone because at least you'll be able to consistently text and call people.

If only the people at HTC Used their products...
by catbr on May 23, 2012
Pros: ..they would see that they have great design and a good camera for a good price - but
Cons: - they would make the phone with more that 130 MB of space so that it would live up to its ideal of "make it your own" it should be "good luck using it after downloading email, play store & facebook"
Summary: This phone has the WORST capacity of any (ANY) consumer electronic device I have EVER used! There are flash drives with better capacity storage. The hardware of this phone is ...
Summary: This phone has the WORST capacity of any (ANY) consumer electronic device I have EVER used! There are flash drives with better capacity storage. The hardware of this phone is fantastic! Good quality photos, excellent sound quality, even in midtown Manhattan, the call quality is as good as any other phone I've used. BUT
I don't understand how anyone would manufacture a product for a company to sell without taking into consideration of the phone company's app storage capacity.
Why would HTC do this?
Why couldn't a phone be made to have 130 something MB of space AFTER the phone company's uninstallable apps & bloatware are included. I bought a 16GB sd card to fit apps in, and I STILL cannot download apps to it because the phone's memory is hovering around 8-2MB (this after CONSTANTLY having to "..make more space...". I'm sick of it! I had to uninstall the Find My Phone app, because there wasn't enough internal storage for the GMail to update. I download an entertainment app every week, because I can't move them to the sd card, with 10 GB of space due to the lack of phone capacity. Is HTC in league with the "root your Android" people?? I don't want to root; I don't want to pay for someone else to root it for me; I want the $$ I spent on a 16GB sd card to be worth it - you know, to put photos, games, etc...My phone is so boring. I even had to "make more space" in the subway so I could hear the music playlist. Its so bloated GasX can't even help to deflate it...now what? I've had this phone for 3 months (old Huawei phone was stolen and it was 2 years old & crappy, but SO MUCH BETTER capacitywise), and I am already considering looking at another phone (reason for visiting CNet)
So if you only want 3 apps at a time, and don't mind being interrupted every other time you use the phone to "make more space", or just want to snap a quick (good quality) picture - not to post anywhere (because Instagram & Facebook take up a lot of space, and while Instagram can be transferred to sd card, Facebook cannot) then this is the phone for you. Just call and take and hold pics
btw...
forget about getting one of HTC's custom backgrounds
One you update Play Store its done
If HTC doesn't improve its phone's capacity, their smartphones will be called the "not-smart" phones -
NOT a good phone.

Pros: good touch screen
Cons: Horrible to type on, half of there apps freeze for don't work right, and once you have to much downloaded on to it your friend stream wont work.

Summary: Its a horrible little phone you can't type very good on and the apps freeze and once you get touch stuff downloaded it will keep telling you that you have to keep freeing up memory i have a 16 mg memory card in there and half of the the stuff i down load wont go on it and will just make the phone slower. it's not very good phone i am thinking about switching back to my blackberry style as it is easier to type on and works. thanks for nothing android!

I HATED this phone.
by Stephy1234567 on April 13, 2012
Pros: The phone was not too heavy, access to android market
Cons: Dropped calls, people couldn't always hear me, phone HORRENDOUS to text on if you type faster than a glacial pace. Difficult to hit keys accurately unless on landscape mode. Took a long time to load web pages.
Summary: I just got the Samsung Gio to replace the broken HTC Wildfire S (which I dropped while trying to shake it to fix the reception (ill-advised, but born of frustration))....

It is already far superior to the HTC Wildfire S.
I won't buy another HTC. -

Summary: I just bought this phone almost a week ago and I fell in love with it right away. I was going to buy the Samsung Admire, but they were all sold out and they even only had two left of the Wildfire S. So I took the chance of getting something different than I wanted and I really can't complain. Yes, the phone is small, so if you're used to bigger phones, this might not be the one for you. Texting on it wasn't too bad once I got used to it and now it's a breeze.
Very good responsiveness for the screen. I hardly have to touch the screen for it to know my input. And the camera is amazing! The only thing lacking in this phone is the internal memory, but I found a way around that.
I would recommend this phone for anyone new to Android phones.
