The good: The HTC Windows Phone 8X's edgy design joins forces with a top-of-the-line processor, LTE speeds, and great call quality.
The bad: This phone's 8-megapixel camera took a few poor pictures, the buttons are too flush, and the OS lacks some key apps.
The bottom line: With top specs and a striking design, HTC's Windows Phone 8X makes a smart choice for anyone ready to dive into the Windows Phone OS.
Great Windows Phone 8 device

Pros: Great screen, solid build-quality, wide-angle front-facing camera, physical camera button
Cons: Battery not replacable, missing WP8 apps

Summary: HTC's 8X immediately impresses with it's design. It's corners look like the Metro interface of Windows Phone, and the device is comfortable to hold. The device's build quality is great! A big plus is the physical camera button on the side of the device, which enables you to focus by gently pushing the button before making the final picture.
The camera makes beautiful pictures with a 8MP resolution. I'm a little bit disappointed in the Camera app. It misses certain features which Android Sense devices DO have, like shooting HDR pictures (without buying additional apps/lenses). However, the front-facing camera is fantastic! It shoots 2MP pictures with a extra wide angle. This enables you to take pictures of yourself with friends while holding the phone in your own hands! Genius!
As a die-hard Android fan I have to admit that I needed some time to adapt to the Windows Phone 8 interface. However, everything feels fine now. The most-used apps of Android are starting to be available in the Windows Store, so that's a good thing.
The 8X feels/looks great, runs fast and works smoothly.

Summary: The Windows 8X is a beautiful looking phone. I enjoy the different color options. The sleek design and slimness makes the 8X feel and look great in the palm of my hand. The screen is bright. This phone runs fast and works smoothly. I love the camera quality and the front wide angled lens is perfect for taking selfies! My only complaint about this phone is that there are a lack of apps (Instagram) which Windows Mobile is mostly to blame. Other then that I would recommend this phone to anybody. I think this is also a great "Mom phone" for a first time smart phone user!
Finally a "sensual" phone!

Summary: The first thing that became clear in my mind when I first took the 8X in my hands was that this was not going to be a common user experience. The handset truly comes across as to be able to please all senses that come in contact with it. Touch it: rounded edges, seamless, supple, solid. Look at it: gorgeous unibody design, stunning screen that truly gives Windows 8 justice. Listen to it: I am a music lover and I could easily switch to this device as my main portable mp3 player.
Oh, the camera! Trust it, use it as often as you can... it will not disappoint you! Great battery life (vast improvement over my Evo 4G). Overall I tried really hard to find something to gripe about and all I can think of is the volume controls: they are so flush with the body that sometimes I have a hard time finding them! All in all I highly recommend the "sensual" 8X!
There are many things to mention about this phone!

Summary: The first is the front camera, wide angle which allows you autofotos where their outcome is excellent, perfect for photos when you make when you go alone or with your partner. the result of the photos is amazing, both in quality and opr the perspective that is achieved, which does not appear on from oneself.
Another thing to note is its design, elegant, light, consistent, pleasant to the touch, comfortable and with a great range of colors not found in other devices.
Within your comfort include the button that has on one side for the photos, the same way you would with a common camera. And another important point is the respect the comfort and size of the mobile screen. Without being overly large device for daily wear, its high resolution screen allows you to browse, chat and everything you need in a very comfortable without missing more inches.
Also noteworthy is his power, which supports a demanding undetected use at any time you hanging up the phone or thinking.
In short, a perfect device and fully recommended.
Great device, awesome build!

Pros: Great in the hand, soft touch back makes holding it feel secure, great front and rear facing camera, takes great videos. Dedicated camera button is a plus.

This phone screams quality all of the way. HTC has again put together a heck of a device.

use it in parallel with the HTC One X and will be regularly addressed on the 8X.
Especially the quality of workmanship and the haptic is it what everyone who had this device in his hand, immediately fascinated.
The equipment is comprehensive, excellent display quality and the
Cameras have make a compact digital camera obsolete. I wrote
aware "cameras": The wide-angle front camera is the best that
I've had a cell phone. Self-portraits, even in poor
light conditions, are real eye-catchers.
The main camera serves me as a full-fledged digital camera.
The phone is lightning fast! The software runs, and there are
absolutely no stutters. Feels like it is at least as smooth as
Another highlight is Beats Audio.
The 8X is persistent! It took almost 2 days with my
usage behavior until it had to be recharged.
Conclusion: The hardware and design is really outstanding. A beautiful phone with features brilliant cameras and a very fluid
Definitely a buying recommendation!
Beautiful Phone! Top notch across the board

Fast & Fluid

Summary: While very functional and capable, this phone's biggest claim to fame is it's amazing design. I have never held a phone that feels as nice as this one.
Sound quality is really good on this phone. While I think the beats thing is a bit gimmicky, it doesn't change the fact that of the 4 smartphones I've had over the years (and media players) this cranks out the loudest, and clearest sound. That includes call quality too! (it is a phone after all). If sound quality is important to you, take this phone very seriously.
Front facing camera is the best on the market bar none. Rear facing camera is very good too, but not quite as good some others I've used (though pretty darn close).
Screen is just the right size for me (though some may find 4.3" too big). Screen is what you would expect from a top-tier smartphone and is one of the best from a color accuracy/brightness/glare perspective. The 720p HD resolution gives this a great crisp display that rivals anything else on the market today.
I love the shape and feel of the phone, it fits so nice in my hand, and in my pocket since it has a nice slim tapered body. The color is very eye catching (mine is the blue one) and EVERYONE I know comments on how striking it is.
Battery is average. Easily gets through the whole day for me, though not 2.
I don't use a case (I don't feel it needs one because of the gorilla glass on the front and whatever you call that grippy material on the back). Had it for two months now and it's taken a few (mild) tumbles onto the floor (tile). Not a scratch on it so I'm pretty impressed so far (though I'm sure things would be different if it landed on concrete).
If you're considering this phone, all you need to do is hold one in a store and you'll probably like it.
MY ONE GRIPE:
Windows Phone 8 aside (it's still maturing), this phone has all the bells & whistlers save one important one for me - a microSD slot. It's true that with cloud storage it's not as important to me as it used to be, but I still miss having one.
Windows Phone 8 is very very easy to use and pretty intuitive, it does offer more out of the box than Android/iPhone IMHO, but still has to catch up in the app department. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I would challenge anyone to actually use it before dismissing it as you will probably be pleasantly surprised on how nice WP8 is to use - as someone who has had iOS & android stuff, I was quite impressed and look forward to seeing how the OS progresses. I will say that there are one or two apps I do miss from Android (my previous phone)
Best Windows Phone Available.

Summary: The HTC 8X. Where do I even begin?
I will start with the design of the phone. It is beautiful. The amazing California Blue colored makes this phone special right from the moment you look at it. Just taking it out of the box and experiencing a very unique color that I have never seen on a phone was amazing. The Design of the phone is also a masterpiece. It is an extremely thin and mind bogglingly light. A phone that compacts so much weighs so little. The buttons are laid out very well and a very easy to get to grips with.
The Screen is another amazing feature. It is a big screen that packs a lot of quality in it. It is a HD screen, the resolution in is something that I have never seen before. It is very responsive and I have yet to have a problem with it.
I am very into photography and I love taking pictures and Videos of some of my life moments and if you are like me then you really need to get your hands on this phone. The quality of the pictures is jaw dropping! I took a few pictures whilst I was on a weekend break and came back to my family and they were all amazed that the quality of the photo came from a camera phone. The big thing about this camera is the front facing camera. I used a couple of other phones during the time I had the 8X and I can safely say there is competition with the front facing camera. It is a full HD 1080p camera and it is true to its word. The lens is also very wide in the front of the camera and you can take about 1 or 2 more people per picture compared to the other phones in the market which is awesome for parties.
The Dual core 1.5 GHz Processor is enough to handle anything you throw at it. The speakers in it are also very impressive and it does have beats audio integrated into the phone which does make a big difference. The Keyboard is very responsive and the screen is a perfect size so you will not be bashing other letters whilst you type.
The Windows Operating system is very good too. Very user friendly and very good looking. The only problem I had with it was nothing to do with the phone but the lack of apps.
During the time I had this phone I genuinely think it is the best phone I have ever experienced. The beauty, simplicity and just the technology that is it is uncanny and I would definitely put this down as a must buy for any photographers on the go or a person looking into getting a windows phone as you will not be unsatisfied by this product. Another high class product by a high class company and as HTC says "Quietly Brilliant" and they live up to it!
This phone meets the line between modern and classy!
by Narbj on February 15, 2013
Pros: The pros of this phone are first of all its sleekness. The feel of it in your hands make it incredibly fun to play with. Second is its vibrant display. The live tiles just jump at you! Third would have to be the ease of use.
Cons: The only con would have to be the app market. It uses the Microsoft market which although it great and has altered versions of apps, it is still missing apps that are found on the play market and itunes app store.

Summary: This has got to be one of the nicest looking phones that i have ever owned. It's overall look is sleek and fits great in the hand! I have no problems typing and searching because the way its built allows the user to navigate through it with ease. When you first turn this phone on the vividness of the live tiles is impeccable and the ease of customizing their size and location makes it even more fun to play with. I did not think i would like the tiles and the microsoft layout of everything having come from an 1X but i am loving every bit of it.
The camera on this thing is insane! The photos come out looks amazing and the tap option that counts down from 3 is very handy. This phone has AN ACTUAL CAMERA BUTTON!!! Having that physical button on the side is amazing! No more shaky photos! Even with video this phones proves to be just amazing.
The only cons i would say this phone has is with its app market. The Microsoft market does not have the exact same apps as the play market has or even itunes but in the end its basically the same. BUT i have to say the the FACEBOOK app in the microsoft office is much nicer and much easier to navigate through than the one on the play store.
A Complete Package for Work and Play

Summary: Being a power user concerned with portability, productivity and functionality combined in a smallest piece, I was looking for a phone which would fill the place of several devices and be a power phone rather than just smartphone. I was pretty inspired by the simple look of the Windows Phone 8 OS, and was looking for a perfect device to blend with this OS, and I came across the 8X, beautifully crafted, premium feel in hand, gorgeous display and awesome feeling when you hold it in your hand. My videos look amazing on its HD display and the touch is super responsive! One of the best things I like about this phone is the camera, the video recording of 1080p quality with 45fps is simply superb, came in handy during family functions! The speaker is quite impressive, is loud and clear. And I like the speaker grills at the back, it adds to the overall look of the phone. The phone is real thin and whenever I look at it, I always wonder how beautifully the unibody design is flushing with the display.
Now coming to some cons about this device, being a power user, I really felt 16gb to be very less, that limits my productivity and stuff I could do. There should've been a SD card slot to tackle this issue. It's really bad it offers only 16GB. Second thing is the battery life. It hardly lasts a single full day, and drain in screen off is considerable. I don't know if this is an OS issue, but definitely HTC should have done something to improve the battery life as they have done on the Androids.
Overall its a fun device to capture beautiful pictures (even in low lights I found them to be of good quality), to watch high definition videos, to type on the ultra responsive screen, and with beats, you also have a music system with you with good quality sound and sound effects.
So this is definitely a complete package for both work and play!
