Over 2 mos to get NEW phone back from being repaired!
by JMK500 on May 17, 2013
Pros: Price.
It runs Ice Cream SandwichCons: Poor quality, warranty and service, can't read barcodes due to the camera, can't set # of rings, layout of phone screen, TOO sensitive proximity sensor - interrupts your call OFTEN, on/off button tends to break. Won't Sync with Skydrive/Dropbox.
Summary: Had problems out of the box and had to send it to NY for repairs. It took OVER 2 MONTHS to get back. This after calling Kyocera and they said ...
Summary: Had problems out of the box and had to send it to NY for repairs. It took OVER 2 MONTHS to get back. This after calling Kyocera and they said they "expedited the repair". Poor, poor, poor, customer service! Asked to speak with supervisor and they wouldn't let me. Figure if it doesn't work, your out the money you spent on a phone. The above problems with on/off and proximity sensor appear to be quite common on this phone from reading other reviews.

Great value and quality for it's class.
by photometry on April 9, 2013
Pros: Water resistance is a huge plus when getting wet. Works fairly efficient for entry level phone and functions are very responsive. Voice dial works perfect. Screen resolution is clear & sharp. Web browser fairly quick.
Cons: Not sure if it's every touch screen phone, but this screen for texting is terrible (too sensitive), I still prefer actual buttons for texting. Could use longer battery life. Could use a more powerful processor for higher video playback resolution.

Summary: Since the Hydro is my first smart phone I can't really give a good fair comparison against other brands but I am know there are much better phones out there for a premium price. Overall i do believe it's a great value in it's class for the money. For anyone who has nothing good to say about this phone, then they were fools to believe they were going to get the performance equivalent to an iPhone for a fraction of the price.

A Great Phone From a So-So Company (Kyocera)
by BoostFan on October 13, 2012
Pros: Affordable
Decent battery life
Android 4.0Cons: Freezes occasionally when turning on WiFi
Slow processor for loading larger programs or games

Summary: Overall I am impressed with this phone. As an entry level phone I have found it to be reliable and fairly responsive in regular use. It lags for unacceptably long periods when trying to load graphics intensive games and occasionally freezes but for the most part ownership has been a trouble free experience.
Between the low price point and good performance I rate this phone highly. If the processor was a little faster it would easily rate at five stars.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Cheap ICS waterproof phone, so it has a slow processor.
by bert_w on August 23, 2012
Pros: Incredibly cheap. You get at least your money's worth. Compared to the other ICS phones on boost, it is an incredible deal. 5/5 when price is considered.
Cons: The slow processor causes some hiccups, weak camera, and only 3g, but since it is on boost (sprint) there are no 4g WiMax towers in my neighborhood (or even close), so thats a null point for 95% of the US.
Summary: MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: PHONE is definitely waterproof, that being said there are CONSEQUENCES to dropping the phone in water, i purposely did to see how cool waterproof was, and while ...
Summary: MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: PHONE is definitely waterproof, that being said there are CONSEQUENCES to dropping the phone in water, i purposely did to see how cool waterproof was, and while awesome, the heapohone jack is separate from the rest of the phone waterproofing, and when it got wet the phone believed i had a hand free headset plugged in the jack from the water making a connection, for a bout 2 days, during which i had to use speaker ohone to use my phone. so only part of the phone affected by 10 minutes of being submerged, was the "phone", data, texting, everything else was with out hitch once dry. Also note touchscreen, like all capacitive touchscreens does not work while wet.
The phone is definitely worth the money. I live in the midwest, where there is only one city (and i dont live there) with sprint 4g wimax, which they are not building any more towers for, and the "4g" phones on boost mobile will not be compatible with the 4g lte network it is building (which wont come to my million plus pop. city for at least a year anyways), so it doesn't matter to me that the phone is only 3g. the boost mobile ID packs unwelcome, but if you are buying a $130 smartphone, on boost mobile chances are you it is your first smartphone, or at least your first ICS phone, so it a good idea for people who have never used an android, but as a avid smartphone user before i had this phone i found it annoying.0 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
