The good: The LG Nitro HD has a stunning 4.5-inch HD display, 1080p HD video, an 8-megapixel camera, and support for 4G LTE. There's a 1.3-megapixel camera for video chats.
The bad: There's a pronounced camera shutter lag on the Nitro HD, and the battery drained faster than it should have.
The bottom line: With its gorgeous display, high-def everything, and 4G speeds, the LG Nitro HD has what it takes to compete; however, a few flaws keep it from trampling the competition.

They made it even worse

Summary: Service is my main complaint. I sent this to service when the mic stopped working. It took more than a week after it had arrived at the service depot (with Fedex confirmation) for them to acknowledge receipt (when I called, at the suggestion of the online chat rep). The online service update site was completely worthless. It took about 3 weeks to get the phone back. The mic was fixed, but it no longer made or received calls! Yes, they fixed a small problem and, in the process, killed the "phone" part of the device.
What's worse, repeated calls got promises that they would find where the phone (which wasn't in their system anywhere) had wound up and would let me know. These promises weren't kept. At one point, I did get a call, to tell me the phone was fixed and give me a tracking number. Great! But then I got a call back telling me to ignore that tracking number. Meanwhile, online service tracking still said they were waiting for me to ship them the phone (which Fedex indicated had arrived there more than a week earlier).
This may be the worst experience I've ever had with a company. As I type this, I'm getting ready to send the phone back in for the second time, to get them to fix the damage they caused the first time. I'm not at all pleased with LG.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I had the Galaxy S II for two days. AT&T took it back and I got this. I am super impressed with the phone and AT&T. The 4G LTE is blazing fast in the Phoenix area. The camera is slightly better on the Galaxy, but the LG Nitro HD device overall (especially the display at 329ppi and 720x2180) blows the Galaxy S II Skyrocket out of the water! It slightly bests iPhones pixel density (which is 326ppi) on paper but you'll only notice a much larger screen and higher resolution.
As of Wednesday, 2012-01-04, LG has made their phone-in tech support virtually useless. Two minutes of wading through phone menus to get to endless ringing. I gave up after four minutes of listening to ringback tone waiting for someone to answer the line. It was working with just a two touch-tone selections (about 20 seconds) to talk to someone less than 24 hours ago.
The sound quality on the LG is not the very best, but isn't bad at all in my opinion. I use a BT headset anyway, and the Samsung would not dial any contact in my list with or without a headset. That is, the Galaxy S II Skyrocket annoyingly ignores your contact list when voice dialing. Nobody at AT&T seems to realize that until they try it. Instead it does a Google search and dials what it thinks is a good match (NOT)! The Nitro HD does voice dial (with or without BT) from my contacts, and is accurate (thanks to Google). I have nearly 600 contacts in my list.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

I wouldn't pay for this phone!
by sweetchik108 on October 14, 2012
Pros: Camera is ok but for what I had before and for this to be an "upgrade," is a whole lot of nonsense. This phone was sent to me as a replacement to my LG Thrill which they deemed as an upgrade. AT&T also revoked my insurance.
Cons: My Thrill got internet everywhere and this thing can't get it once I go far enough away from my house! I can't use any of the apps that use internet which is almost all of them. I also don't like the back part of the cover..it has weird ridges in it.
Summary: I can't go out to lunch and check emails and use internet or music apps if I'm working out or waiting in line.

Camera isn't 3D which kind of bummed me out. The back cover has weird ridges on it. I would never buy this phone, it was a replacement for my LG Thrill, which I got fixed and absolutely LOVE! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but don't get this phone if you want to go out and still be able to use internet. -
Released in Dec 2011, it had all the specs of IPhone 5.
by erg208 on October 5, 2012
Pros: Released in December 2011, it had all the specs of IPhone 5 of 2012. And now with ICS it's even a better phone. Excellent & gorgeous HD display (326 ppi). 1080p video recording. Amazing LTE speeds & HSPA+ backhaul with AT&T. Nice slim design.
Cons: Battery life is an issue due to its HD screen and LTE signal. Wished it had more onboard storage capacity (only 4GB); although you can bump it up with the addition of 32GB microSD card. Audio quality during phone calls can be low at times.

REGRET UPDATE: Frustratingly unstable w/ Ice Cream Sandwich. This is my 2nd Android after Motorola Atrix 4G. Suckered by LTE and 'great' features reviews. Already came installed with ICS 4.0.4 from AT&T. Only had phone for few mos. Regularly reboots/shutdown. I thought it was the battery and replaced it with a new one. Still same problem occurs even with soft reset recommended by LG Tech Support. Using LTE signal - screen and back of phone gets very warm then shuts down. With WiFi only it's ok. Battery life is not the best. Purchased extended 3850 mAH battery which seem to work well. Lasts 2 days without charging. Had a LG CU400 phone before with same problem overheating and poor battery life. Read reviews this phone works better with Gingerbread. No news whether its upgradeable to JB which has been out for close to a year now. Disappointed with Android and LG on slow to response when it comes to updating. I'm heading to iPhone (or even Blackberry) camp once contract expires.

Summary: I traded in a Galaxy Skyrocket after finding out that it would not support voice dialing and I am glad that it worked out that way. The Nitro is far superior to the Skyrocket. It didn't hurt that Best Buy has it for $49.99 right now,so I also got a refund on the purchase price of the Skyrocket.

This phone works excellently. I tested it out at an ATT store that had, had it, and thought it was a really nice phone. It runs android 2.3.3 and it doesn't seem to be a cluttered version. Not a lot of bloatware around the phone, and it runs very fast. I really was amazed with the camera, and most of all quality of calls made on it. I really think that LG and ATT got it right with this phone. -
One of the best smartphones I ever used

Summary: LG put a lot of attention to detail building this phone. The materials and build quality are tops. The large screen has excellent resolution and displays accurate colors. CPU/GPU enable fast and smooth operation and downloads/opening complex sites are quick even on HSPA+. The LG skin over Android is mostly enhancing usage. I really couldn't find any major drawbacks using this phone. And while Swype isn't available out of the box, downloading and installing Swype beta is a breeze and it works great. Overall, one of the best smartphones available today.
