The good: The LG Optimus M has a bright, colorful, and intuitive display. It ships with Android 2.2 and has Wi-Fi, EV-DO Rev. 0, GPS, a 3.2-megapixel camera, and Bluetooth.
The bad: The LG Optimus M can't play Flash video in the browser, and it lacks tethering and Wi-Fi hot-spot capabilities.
The bottom line: While not as advanced as the Optimus handsets on other carriers, the Optimus M is still a great entry-level Android phone for MetroPCS customers.
Really durable! I left it on the roof of my car!

Pros: It's very durable and the battery seems to last longer then my friends.
Cons: It's kind of slow sometimes

Summary: One day I was getting ready to drive my grandmother somewhere and I went to set some stuff inside the car and set my phone on top (bad idea. I'll never set anything on top of a car again.) and I drove off and it took a good 5 mins before it went FLYING off my car. I was going about 50 mph I think. I went back up the road to get it and the back of it had come off the battery fell out. The piece that holds the sd card in came off and I lost my sd card but my phone was FINE.
Damage was minimal. You'd think I had just dropped it. I had a friend who dropped his iphone and it was ruined. I can't even imagine what would have happened to his if it went through what my phone did haha! I really love my phone

Summary: I owned this phone for 2 years, almost from the day it was released. At the time it was MetroPCS' best phone and their only true snmartphone. Today it is considered an entry level smartphone and as such it is a good phone for a first smartphone. Anyone other than kids should consider rooting it to get the most out of it.
Frustrating phone since it has so much potential.
by notatech123 on February 29, 2012
Pros: Voice features; price; Google GPS.
Cons: Difficult to text. Constantly reboots on its own or freezes up. Slowest 3G I've e ever worked with. Poor quality camera especially with 3.2mp.Battery life if low.

Summary: This is a really cool phone when it is working properly., For this reason I gave it a "1" since it is only on rare occasions it works as it should. I am very disappointed by the reviews I have read because it lead me to believe this phone is "EPIC". I am not a techi person but I can figure things out. After continuously trying all the suggestions to resolve the freezing and rebooting problem, I am too frustrated to enjoy anything else this phone can do.
Good starter phone, but has its drawbacks.
by omegametroid on February 4, 2012
Pros: Easy to use, simple design, decent camera, feels somewhat sturdy.
Cons: Messaging is shoddy, calls are dropped with ease, shape makes it easy to drop, screen could be larger, and data speeds are sluggish.

Summary: It was a great phone for the first couple of months. The camera is rather decent, the call quality is acceptable, and the display is pleasing. After that, though, it began to show its true colors. Many core apps (not downloaded ones, mind you) freeze up often, such as messaging or your contacts. The battery life could be a little better, but it still gets you through over 7 hours non-constant use. I've often not receieved texts for hours; that is, if someone sends me a text, once-in-a-while I won't receive that text until I shut dcwn my phone and wait for a couple hours, which is very frustrating. Texting is decent, but the keys stick. The phone's slanted design also makes it harder to grab at the bottom end (the end I face upward in my pocket) making it easy to drop.
If you're looking for a cheap, entry-level android phone, then I'd suggest this phone. But for long-term use, or for those with high expectations, I'd look elsewhere.
Would be a great buy if it weren't defective...

Pros: I downgraded from an IPhone and this was a fairly comfortable transition with the same type of touch screen and similar functionality. Android has all the same apps I had and I love the talk-to-text feature for texting safety.
Cons: I have issues with the phone turning off randomly and as it turns out, the Metro Guard insurance plan is a crock, requiring a $69 deductible for a replacement phone when I paid $99 for the phone brand new. Also no visual voicemail. Lame.

Summary: It shuts off unexpectedly and Metro PCS neglects to tell customers that though it is a 3G phone, they do not have a 3G network, only a 1G or 4G, so I am forced to pay more but for 1G service which is shoddy at best. You can connect to Wi-Fi when available which helps with some of the disappointing speeds but all in all it has been quite the headache. Now I am stuck in a position where I have to either pay the $69 deductible to get a replacement for this 3rd faulty phone, or send it to LG and remain phone-less until they sort out weather to repair it or send me a new one. All options suck, but Metro PCS seems to be a huge part of my problem with this phone. Blarg...

by childofgod56 on December 4, 2011
Pros: It has a lot of icons of things to enjoy. It offers a lot. I luv the apps! It is easy to tex using it. I also like that you can lock it for privacy! It's a good phone and would recommend it!
Cons: It does not able you to flash! Other than that, I am sold on this phone!

One of the best starter androids you can get
by jhevi002 on November 12, 2011
Pros: -Easy to get acclimated with
-$55 a month UNLIMITED plan with metro PCS
-Durable, and I mean DURABLE! If you're a phone dropper like me this phone is built like a brick
-Very bug-free for an Android Phone
-Insanely Customizable, especially onc
Cons: -Battery life can sometimes drain faster than I'd like it to
-Processor speed is laggy at times
-As far as features go it's as basic as it gets for a smartphone
-Data speeds are pretty slow on Metro's network
-Occasionally (once every couple of months) it

Summary: I bought this phone on the day it was released in September of 2010 and I still use it constantly, every single day. Words can't even describe how well built this phone is, and anyone who has never owned an Android device, and has Metro PCS should definitely consider this phone as a starter. Rooting the phone is as easy as plugging it into the computer and downloading an app onto the phone that roots it automatically for you, and once you have root this phone can be modified to compete with much higher end androids. My girlfriend owns a $300 droid incredible from verizon and I have a better battery life, faster 3g speeds due to customized data connection (also very easy), I can take screen shots, my processor is over clocked which completely cleared up the lag, I can wirelessly tether my phone to tablets and computers, and I've dropped it hundreds of times without a single crack on the screen. My girlfriend's droid has spiderweb-like cracks across her screen from ONE drop, not to mention the fact that its her 3rd one because the first two incredibles she had malfunctioned. Ultimately this phone is solid, durable, can do just about anything most other phones can do with the right mods, and is an all around steal at the $99 Metro is asking for it. Shoot, I paid $200 for this phone and would pay it again if I knew it would last me as long as it has.

The first Android I get
by carlosrendon3iiii on October 20, 2011
Pros: Bright colors, easy to use
Cons: The battery last for like 8 hours without even using the phone, I have to charge it every afternoon. The internet service is horrible, I have been without internet for 2 weeks now, and I have to run to the store every time this happens. Very disappointed
by dude24789 on October 14, 2011

Cons: Display resolution 320X480, somewhat slow processor, low internal memory, no flash player. smaller screen than other

Summary: OK now, now this is a great for for a low price actually and its just as good as a high end phone is you know what you're doing. The first two cons i listed are easily solved if you do some poking around on the internet EX most developers don't make too many games for this phones resolution but there are geniuses that solved this problem for us and have converted these games. So basically any problems you have there are 20 times as many solutions.
