This is what a phone should be......

Pros: Shape and feel. Keyboard. Vibrate actually works. Call quality. 3G Connection. The Weight is perfect. Awesome responsive touchscreen. Fast processing.

Summary: I have never written a review on a phone before but this one I think is in need of a good end user review. I have only been using this phone for 3 days but so far it has given me everything that I have been looking for in a Phone. That's right I said phone. For years I have been a IOS fanboy but after the release of the iPhone 4 (which I personally despise) i went on the look for a different devise. I tried blackberry and it was cool but all of the phones are crap. I then moved on to Samsung Captivate with that worthless android os. The Phone sucked and the os was even worse. So i went on to try the Xperia X10A. The phone i actually liked but the os once again was a deal breaker for me. Well with no other real options left to try I went back to the iPhone 4 and cussed it for all it was worth. I hate that phone. So i started reading about the new windows phones and decided to give them a try. The first one that I got was the Samsung Focus and as nice as it was i couldn't get used to carrying a small tv in my pocket. So i continued to use it in hopes that I would eventually get used to it. Well the form factor of the phone just became annoying and as much as I like the os on these devices I just couldn't stand the thinness so it looked like i was going back to the iphone. Then I saw that the Quantum was available so jumped on and ordered it. The minute that I opened the box I knew this was going to be the phone and so far it has proven me right. I love that I can hold the phone next to my head and it doesn't mute or facetime at will. I love that the vibrate feature actually vibrates enough to feel in your pocket or in a leather holster. The ringtones are plenty loud enough and the os is slick. I realize that apps are important to a lot of people as well as to me and with time these will come. I also realize that custome ringtones would be nice and again these will come. All I can say is that if you want a phone that I foresee working great for everyday as well as business you should absolutely give this one a try.

Everything I wanted in a phone
by shaundoty on November 30, 2010
Pros: Everything about this phone is a pro in my eyes. The size is perfect and the phone is visually pleasing. The device is stylish in its black. The OS is quick; the camera is amaing. The apps run smoothly; music player is great too. Great keyboard.
Cons: I disagree with the cnet review about the cons. The phone is not heavy. The screen is 3.5 inches, but honestly it doesn't even matter. The larger windows 7 phone by att is only 4 inches, and that thing looks god awful.
Summary: As stated before, the phone is truly fun to play with. Coming from an old blackberry curve, I knew it was time to upgrade to something more up to date. ...
Summary: As stated before, the phone is truly fun to play with. Coming from an old blackberry curve, I knew it was time to upgrade to something more up to date.
The short of it: Everything about the phone is professional and fun. I never had an iPhone, but I was attracted to this phone because everything just looked like it clicked. Believe me, it does. It's visually stunning and the touch screen feels JUST right. It's not slippery and responds extremely well. The applications are at the moment minimal, but they will definitely grow in time.
I suggest not using the AT&T preinstalled applications as after the trial period (once you mannually activate it in the phone itself) they charge money. This is for the navigator and radio (if I am not forgetting something). There are already free alternatives you can download from their store, so why bother paying?
You will not go wrong with this phone, and it even looks better than an iphone in my eyes. Keyboard just makes it better.7 out of 9 users found this user opinion helpful.

Works great for communicating and organizing our family

Summary: I bought this phone for my wife who is our backbone in keeping our family organized. With two high school kids and one in college, she uses this phone to keep calendars, documents with important info for each kid and generally keeps us all in line. The easy to use start screen and the ability to customixe its tiles work great for her. Previously she kept her calendar and contacts in Outlook on a laptop and synced to a Windows 6.5 phone. There were always issues with activesync. We converted her calendar and contacts to her Windows Live account using Hotmail Connector and it auto syncs to the phone without any issues at all. Make a change in Windows Live, and it shows up on the phone in a few minutes. Same is true going from phone to online. She loves it. She kept her gmail account and uises it instead of the Hotmail. the People Hub integrates all the activity together and is very easy to use. She also carries several Office Documents with her to keep track of various family information (medical, wish lists, school needs, etc.). The way Windows Phone 7 works with Mobile Office is great. She can't wait for the copy/paste, but will get by until then. The operating system has not caused any issues so far. it is easy to learn and serves our needs very well. We have installed the major apps such as You Tube, Facebook, Adobe Reader and Netflix. She doesn't game much, but I bet she will get into some of the basic games. Her main reason in getting this particular phone was the slide out keyboard. It works great for her, and cuts way down on the mis-typing as she gets used to the virtual keyboards. The live tiles on the start page are becoming a favorite for her too. Seeing the updates as they happen works well.

This phone is fast and a pleasure to use!!
by pt1209 on January 19, 2011
Pros: FAST!!! This phone is incredibly fast and with the upcoming WP7 update will be even faster. qwertty keyboard is great and a must for me. Most solid phone I ever had plus the Camera with flash is a nice feature.
Cons: The phone has no cons itself but WP7 can use some updates to create more options for the user. (custom ringtones and such)

Summary: This is my favorite phone of all time, faster then any I have ever owned and owning a iPhone too I can tell you it is a bit faster then that.. Windows Phone 7 is perfect for me, I know MS is getting ready to send out a update to allow copy and paste and better memory management to make it even faster but I hope they are working overtime to get out more updates soon to allow us the users to configure WP7 to exactly how we want. Don't get me wrong I love WP7 and I know it's in it;s infant stage but this Operating System has incredible potential to rival and iOS or Android. Screen size has also been mentioned but it is actually the same as a iPhone (3.5") only difference is the iPhone's screen is wider where the the Quantum is longer which is actually very nice when you use it horizontally.. Bottom line, great phone which unfortunately is not getting the press and advertisement it truly deserves, go to a AT&T Store and play with it for a few minutes and I guarantee you will love it..
After using WP7 for a while I have grown to truly love it and found the screen size and display of the Quantum just didn't take full advantage of this OS and it's visual capabilities and bought a Focus and haven't regretted it for a moment, originally the qwerty keyboard made me go to the Quantum but the bulk it adds along with the smaller display just doesn't match up with the bigger, lighter, brighter and more vibrant Focus.. Sorry LG...
Not sure why a reviewer is having problems using the browser for I have not had one problem with it and I most definitely like it better then Safari, not to mention a IE browser update for WP7 is also on the way in the near future.. Bottom line, I give this phone and WP7 two thumbs up..

Well-built but disappointing.
by ballison78 on April 12, 2011

Good call quality but OS needs some work
by chrisinbrooklyn on April 11, 2011
Pros: -Good call quality (can pick up a signal in iPhone 'dead spots.'
-Responsive, easy to use interface
-Can't add ringtones, and the preloaded ones are quite badCons: -Seems insecure, if that's the right word
-Doesn't wake up from sleep mode correctly

Summary: I want to really like this phone. I got it for my husband as his first smart phone, so I was looking for something that would support the basic uses of a smart phone (email, texting, some web browsing and a couple of decent apps I though he would like.) To those ends, its been great. The windows 7 OS is pretty simple and functional. My only complaint is the on screen buttons are way too small, even for me with perfect vision. Say you touch the "phone" box to bring up the phone capabilities. You'll see CALL HISTORY in giant letters, your last few calls. And then at the bottom in teeny tiny circles are the buttons to tap for voice mail (in fact the number of new voice mails displayed is so small I can't make it out), keypad display and contacts. This just seems like an OS thing and maybe can be fixed in an update. Otherwise I really like the interface. It has a dedicated back button (which iPhone doesn't have, only supports back buttons in app) and a home button. And while not as totally simple as the iPhone interface - its generally easier to use than an android phone. So a windows 7 phone would be a good choice for someone not as technologically savvy. My husband can't use the TV remote but he is fine with this phone so....
The other major OS problem is that it doesn't wake from sleep mode correctly when receiving calls. I can't figure out how to fix this bug. If anyone knows, please email me. I'd be so thrilled to fix this. Basically the phone 'locks' the same way the iPhone does. And after a while, sends itself into a reduced power state. If it receives a call when in a reduced power state, the phone rings, but the screen stays black. No amount screen tapping, pinching sliding, home key pressing, or lock button pressing can get you to your phone call in time. Its almost a fatal bug at this point, since people tend to receive phone calls sporadically and not in bunches. Its too bad too because the call quality and reception are fantastic particularly when compared to the iPhone. Its just that most of the calls can't actually be received. You always have to call the caller back.
Finally, I'm not sure this phone is secure. I'm a pretty high end user of technology - and I'm not sure what is going on here, but when I got my first bill from this phone, there was something like 40 dollars of purchases from both the Microsoft store and SMS services. Now I did buy apps legitimately, like I added a local subway map on there for him and a better map app than the one that comes standard with the phone. But my husband definitely didn't text 'OMG' to 44928 to receive Celebrity Gossip or 'Jesus' to 92833 to receive daily bible verses, yet somehow text services were on the bill. There was also a charge for Tetris from the Microsoft XBOX store, which comes pre downloaded on the phone (oh yeah, this phone does come with both Microsoft and Att bloat ware - just use your imagination.) Apparently the competitive on-line tetris service was activated. I could see my husband accidentally touching the Games market place on the home screen (its actually quite easy to do when scrolling through the Windows 7 home screen) but he definitely didn't activate Tetris. Unless its possible it was an accidental pocket activation.
Of course ATT's ridiculously poor online support platform will only cancel the service going forward and pro-rate the rest of the month where we wont get our celebrity gossip messages. To get my money back I'm going to have to spend 3 hours on the phone going through 3 supervisors and a manager, never mind in our 10 plus years with an ATT account we have never activated a SMS data service. What a great way to spend a Monday morning.
But I can't figure out how these apps are getting purchased. As I said, a pocket purchase is the only theory I have for tetris, but the sms data service? I haven't a clue. Upon checking the email associated with the live ID you are required to sign up for to use the phone's app store - I see we did get a free avatar as a gift for joining Xbox live.
In any event, if I can't figure it out, I will try to return the phone. I'm sure ATT won't agree that random purchases made by the phone costing us money and time trying to recoup the money is a 'manufacturing defect' covered by the warranty. If we have to be stuck with the ghost phone, except for the fact that it randomly drains the wallet at times of its choosing, and you can't actually receive any calls with it - its a pretty great phone.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

LG Quantum phone from Window
by magnus1332 on January 29, 2011
Pros: The response from anything you touch is phenominal, fast, easy and hassel free.
The phot quality is awesome, along with the graphics for all the applications.
Conectivity is great, WiFi is totaly kewl, it links up anywhere there's an open WiFi.Cons: The one thing that they missed horriably on this phone is the ability to use downloaded or made RINGTONES
this should be standard these days for any phone
they should send an update VERY SOON to fix this issue. I mean it's a SMARTPHONE come on!Summary: Love EVERYTHING bout this phone with the exception of the RINGTONE issues.

I mean come on, it's a freaking smartphone this should be "standard" for all phones these days
with so much potiental investments in the sales and use of ringtones you'd think they would of put it in there.
All in All however i would recomend this phone to anyone who is on the go, or needs there on personal secretary cause it's functionality and useage is endless... it's more than a "cell phone" it's my mobile life.
just wish that it included all the bells and whistles i wanted to make for it or download. LOL1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Missing a few main perks
by KRISTEN2011 on January 25, 2011
Pros: The 5mp camera, larger keypad ans screen, it is extremely fast, text messaging screens
Cons: Can't download ringtones and the manufacturer ringtones for this phone all sound basically the same, No memory card slot? They majorly missed that.

Summary: This phone is great as far as text messaging and internet usage, the touch screen and internet are both very fast. It takes fabulous pictures. I am still getting used to the touch screen because it's my first one, but so far, it's very easy to use. I am bummed you can't download ringtones but can live with it. Hopefully they will update this soon and make this an option. I was told by the AT&T store to purchase a memory card, so I did, only yo get home and find that this phone has no memory card slot! How did that happen? I am sure they will fix this on the next version of this phone. I love the looks of the phone itself, it is slim and stylish, yet not so slim you can't holid it such as the Blackberry.
