Motorola Droid Razr 16GB - black (Verizon Wireless) price range: $319.99
- Reviewed by: Nicole Lee

The good: The Motorola Droid Razr has an attractive, slim, and lightweight design that is also water repellent and scratch resistant. It has a fantastic 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Verizon's 4G/LTE speeds, plenty of multimedia features, corporate and government grade security, Webtop functionality, and decent battery life.
The bad: The Motorola Droid Razr's large size might feel awkward in small hands; we expected better picture quality from its 8-megapixel camera; and the battery is not removable.
The bottom line: With its razor-thin design, jam-packed features, and blazing speed, the Motorola Droid Razr is easily one of the year's top Android smartphones.

I like it very much so
by acogs on June 12, 2012
Pros: Huge screen
Cool lock-button placement
Not an iPhone
lots of harddrive space
fast processingCons: weak battery
4G can be very spotty (Cali)
wifi airport is kind of sketchy sometimes (requires high strength)

Summary: I got this phone with the mother's day discount, $100, so I wasn't expecting much. And it was my first smartphone. But overall I think it accomplishes what I want with it. I use the navigation ALL the time and its awesome. Its got plenty of space for downloading new apps (I have GO launcher and several different themes and widgets that take up lots of space, but I still have room). I also love the lock screen button placement, its on the top right side where your thumb would sit holding it in the right hand.
Some issues: sometimes the Music app crashes, and the 4G is hit or miss usually. But I do love the huge screen (I dont think the bezel is large at all, its less than 0.25"...and it seems like it adds protection to the screen if it were to fall).
Camera isn't as good as I thought it would be for 8MP. They say that megapixels alone are not representative of how good the camera is.
The number 1 problem I have with it is the batter dies extremely fast. Like if I use it frequently during the day for navigation or web browsing, it will be at 15% by dinner time at least. I have just learned to plug it in whenever I can.
Pro Tip: even though the battery is non-removable, you can do a hard-reset by pressing the lock button + the 2 volumes all at the same time. P.S. I've never had to do that.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

This is for those that want on the ICS train for cheap.
by Kymazen on May 30, 2012
Pros: price, performance (not great but adequate), and screen (oddly large bezel that could've made phone smaller/lighter)
Cons: battery, battery, and battery

Great Phone, Great Features

Summary: I'm still working out the best smart tool settings to get the most battery life out of it - with the right settings you can get the battery to last for ~ 2 days if you aren't using it to browse the web all the time. I know people have complained about battery life, and it isn't great, but it is enough to get through the day, which is about all you need as you can charge it while you're sleeping. The interface is good - I feel as though any smart phone is going to be similar to the iphone though. I'm looking into rooting the phone so I can take off some of the apps that come with it - the ability to get under the hood and work on the phone is largely why I chose it over the rival iphone. Also, it was $35 at amazon mobile, so it was a good $165 cheaper.
I don't really have a whole lot to complain about - it's a great phone for a great price that has okay battery life. If you want better battery life, shell out the extra $200 for the same phone with a larger battery. I do wish that you could replace the battery, but the design is so svelte I forgive it for that fault.
I like that you can expand the memory too - I put a $25 32gb sdhc card in there, and now I use it for my photos, music, and documents.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Lightweight, thin phone that feels durable!

Summary: The first thing you notice about the Droid RAZR is that it's lightweight and portable. It's super thin and fits easily into my purse with other items. It also fits into my back pocket and fits easily into my hand. It's not bulky or uncomfortable.
But it's also very durable -- I have had it for two months without using a case and there's not a scratch on it. It is a little top heavy where the camera is located, but I've gotten used to that over time.
The screen is gorgeous. It's bigger than that of the iPhone and the display is crisp and bright. Streaming videos is fast and the high definition video camera is wonderful.
The battery life on the phone isn't that great, but there are Smart Actions built into the interface that help save battery. After installing the Smart Actions, my battery life doubled. Still, don't leave home without a charger. You might regret it.
I had never used the Android operating system before, and there was a definite learning curve from iOS. But I attended one of Verizon Wireless' workshops and it helped immensely. I would highly recommend that.
There are great features of this phone, including social media integration which adds your Twitter followers, Facebook friends and email contacts to your phone's contacts; customizable ringtones; widgets to keep track of your data usage; the ability to use the device as a mobile hotspot and a beautifully crisp camera.
This is a great phone!

All around Perfection
by martinj281 on March 15, 2012
Pros: The 8megapixel camera takes excellent picture quality especially when shown on its H.D. screen. Size is uncomfortable at first but after a few days, it feels normal. 4G is fast and quick with an ever-expanding Verizon network. Best smartphone of 2012
Cons: The battery dies quickly! I will lose my phone for hours in the day and by 1 o'clock pm so, it needs a full recharge. (That is what I get for not splurging for the Razr Maxx)
Summary: Beautiful phone with tons of memory, 4G is quick and lightning fast, best smartphone so far.

Summary: I was a little worried about this phone when I ordered it from Verizon because of its size and reported battery life. It is a big phone, but it took me about two days to get used to it and couldn't go back to a 3.7 inch screen. the Kevlar back and Gorilla glass front coupled with its water resistant coating make for a reassuring "Tough" feel. That it not to say it is a rugged phone in the least and one should take care to not treat it as such, but I can say that my wife dropped hers on a concrete garage floor from "ear height" with NO CASE and it sustained 0% cosmetic or internal damage. As for the battery life, everyone's usage is different but just to give an example of what mine can handle: I removed mine from the charger and turned it on at 6:30 am today. From 8:00 to 5:00 I made or received 7 calls lasting 5 - 10 minutes each, sent ~25 text messages, checked Facebook and or Email accounts ~ once per hour, and used Google maps for 15 minutes to navigate to a customer's house. This is with 4G turned off (not available here yet) but WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth are always turned on. From 5:00 pm until about 8:00 I did not use the phone at all but it was turned on. And for the last TWO HOURS I have been streaming Pandora and surfing the internet over WiFi. The battery meter indicates that it is now at 50%. As other reviews will mention, power users may have trouble with the charge lasting all day but this performance easily meets my daily needs. Awesome phone.

Pretty on the outside, dysfunctional on the inside.
by CharlieNJ on April 26, 2012
Pros: Thin
Gorgeous big screenCons: Freezes, buggy when browsing the web, and I have the worst time trying to get 4G to load; in Miami!

Summary: Truth be told I've only had this phone for two days, but if things don't drastically start working better for me I'm returning within my 14 day grace period.
Instead of getting a different phone, I returned my dysfunctional phone for a new Droid Razr. Since then, I've actually returned dysfunctional Razrs twice more, for things like being stuck in landscape mode or a faulty GPS functionality. The Motorola I have now seems to be the less buggy so I'm keeping it until I am ready to buy whatever new HTC phone that exists.
Browsing the web freezes the phone, often. Also the touch screen doesn't seem to hit exactly where I want. I used to have the HTC Incredible (3G) so I thought this other Droid OPS phone would be a good step for me; but boy do I want that 3G Incredible to dry out and start working again.
Even when texting, when a word is misspelled, it doesn't auto correct the word to the correct word. For a phone with this size screen; texting should be extremly easy.
In fact, when I was showing a friend this new phone, he showed me he had the exact same one and then said "It's the worst phone I've ever had". I might agree.
Unless I'm missing something here, I plan on returning the phone and trying a different one. There's just no reason to have this many problems with the phone when it's only 2 days old.

Seriously I don't understand the positive reviews on this product. It certainly has turned me off to Motorola as a brand in totality.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

It's very thin, but that's the best thing it has going.
by GatorDave45 on April 12, 2012
Pros: The phone is very thin, except where it's not (the camera bulge).
The screen is bright and colorful.
Verizon's network is outstanding.Cons: The Motorola skin on it is buggy and laggy.
Performance overall is not great, particularly when things are running in the background.
Battery life is adequate on WiFi, but it's awful when using 4G data.Summary: This phone is merely OK. It's not stellar, and there are better options out there. I can't think of a single reason to choose this phone over the ...
Summary: This phone is merely OK. It's not stellar, and there are better options out there. I can't think of a single reason to choose this phone over the RAZR Maxx in particular, given that the latter has great battery life and isn't that much thicker.
Even so, it's hard to recommend something with Moto's custom skin. Opening the app browser and pressing the hardware search button crashes it without fail, and this has been the case for all three months I've had it despite some software updates coming through. It's slow, not that stylish, and takes away from the experience.

Pretty happy so far

Summary: i would give it an excellent rating (4 stars)if the battery life was better. it's a great phone and that's the only con i can think of. it still lasts till the end of the day with moderate usage, but heavy usage will require it to get on the charger as soon as i get back from work. the razr maxx is the same phone with a bigger battery so i guess that's why it receives such high marks. one thing i wish worked better is with ICS flash support has stopped working. i've had to use the puffin browser to get any flash video to work, and it is simply a poor browser compared to chrome, dolphin, or even the stock browser.
