The good: The Motorola Droid X2 features a qHD display and a dual-core processor for faster performance. The Android smartphone offers good call quality and battery life.
The bad: The Droid X2 lacks 4G support and a front-facing camera. The smartphone is a bit bulky and Motorola's custom UI won't please everyone.
The bottom line: The lack of 4G will be a turnoff for some, but the Motorola Droid X2's fast performance and good battery life make it one of Verizon's most solid Android phones.

Had to return it - no Tech Support from Motorola
by orangeskies on August 6, 2011
Pros: Feels great: thin, light, fast
Great keyboard,
Good screen,
Good camera,
Good selection of apps.Cons: Doesn't Sync with Google Calendar (except the first time you try).
Battery is just okay - nothing to write home about.
Speaker phone and regular phone volume leaves a lot to be desired.

Summary: I am glad I bought it at Costco with a 90 day return policy. Actually, I am very sad to give it up. It's an elegant phone. No dropped calls, fast Internet Searches, but I can't keep it because I need the Google Calendar, email and contacts to sync properly and they don't.

Summary: I've had this phone all but a week. I had the original Droid X and was definitely happy with that one, but once it took a dive, I decided to get a DX2. The switch was DEFINITELY worth it. Games run insanely faster on this phone, things are super snappy, and everything is seamless.
When I got the phone it was pre-loaded with froyo, which was kind of a downer because my DX had GB on it, but I found the update.zip file online, and instantly downloaded the new, OFFICIAL, version of GB for the DX2. Ever since I got that, the phone has been absolutely speedy. Compared to a rooted DX, this phone kills it. I had my old one overclocked, and this just handles everything great. I NEVER see any lag or slow-downs, and everything seems to run extremely fast. I don't have any real interest in 4G, as I'm never really downloading anything large, and the battery life on the 4G phones I heard was crap, so I was very comfortable sticking with Verizon's 3G coverage, considering I've had no problems in the past.
Great device! Definitely buy it!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I've turned in my HTC Incredible infor this and was very pleased. Been using wireless phones since the bag days, I had most of the latest technology including Treo. This one surpassed them all. It's not 4G (not necessary yet), don't care about camera on both sides (not Narcissistic, yet). Buying the Extended battery makes power issues minimal. So if you don't want to carry a Tablet and Phone (remember carrying a Palm and Flip Phone), this does nicely.

Exactly What I Was Looking For...

I ...Summary: There are so many good smartphones out there that it is really unfair to review one without giving some background on my past phones and my expectation and circumstances.
I am primarily a business user; I live for email, text and phone communication, but don't watch or shoot video, use video chat or play games with the phone. My last phone was the first Motorola Droid. I don't live in an area with 4G or likely to get it in the next two years (my usual purchase cycle). I am a committed Verizon customer, largely because in my area Verizon is the only carrier to offer solid coverage.
So I went to a Verizon store yesterday to check out high-end smartphones, my current Droid having taken a dive in a parking lot that shattered the screen glass. I was just about due for a discounted upgrade. When I got to the store I was not thinking of buying the DX2. I looked at a couple of 3G phones, the DX2 and the iPhone 4, as well as a couple of 4G phones, the Samsung Charge and the HTC T-bolt.
All of them had their strengths but none was perfect by any means. I had heard that the 4G phones had short battery lives, and as I said 4G connectivity was not a plus for me. I formerly had an iPhone on AT&T and loved the device but hated the network - very poor coverage. I use my smartphone as my primary office phone - I have a solo professional practice - and call quality and coverage are key. All the displays were beautiful to look at, and the user interfaces all seemed pretty good. I still liked the iPhone, but have become very involved with Google Apps in my practice, so felt an Android phone would fit me better. And the DX2 had the only dual-core processor among them, promising better performance.
So I chose the DX2 for the following reasons: an Android phone; dual-core processor; decent battery life; qHd display; good user interface; no 4G benefit available in my area.
I brought it home and took several hours to set it up and customize it to my needs and business processes. The effort was largely painless, although getting music onto the phone proved the most difficult; I had to erase and reformat the SD card a couple of times to get it right. The display is leagues ahead of my old Droid's and the interface gives me more screens to fill with apps and widgets. The phone seems a lot faster in response and crisper in search. Call quality is acceptable, but not much better than my old phone. The interface logic seems better than the Droid too; I don't know which improvements came from Google (it's still running a sub-version of Froyo 2.2) and which from Motorola, but I find I can make calls and look up contacts with a lot less button- and icon-pushing than before.
Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. Time will as always tease out both additional benefits and some drawbacks with the device, but it seems to be exactly what I was looking for to meet my smarphone needs.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I ordered my X2 on Saturday and just got it on Tuesday so it's still new. I switched from a Blackberry Curve 8530 because I was having reception problems and because I can't help wondering if Blackberry is about to go out of business. I'm still getting used to this phone but I don't have the reception problems that I had with my Blackberry, especially with accessing Twitter. On my Blackberry, Twitter didn't seem too compatible. Tweets wouldn't come up. I don't have those problems with my X2. I tried to use Backup assistant to transfer my contacts from my Blackberry but it wouldn't work so I had to do it manually. It's by far a superior phone than my Blackberry.
