The good: The Motorola XPRT has both a touch screen and a keyboard in an attractive and usable form factor. Features include enterprise-level security, mobile hot-spot capability, 3G speeds, and a dual-mode CDMA/GSM chipset for world roaming.
The bad: The Motorola XPRT's display doesn't match up to its competition, and the picture quality could be better.
The bottom line: Despite a few shortcomings, the Motorola XPRT is a great alternative to the BlackBerry because of its enterprise-level features and globe-trotting capabilities.

Voice to Text feature is awesome ! !
by joe_in_socal on August 23, 2011
Pros: Surprised no one mentioned this! I used voice-to-text feature (just push the speak button) for messaging, entering web addresses, emails etc. It had no problem with any voice input and I was able to use this feature while driving my car, at home with mult
Cons: Prefer my Blackberry keyboard!

Great phone, keyboard and screen.

Pros: Awesome touchscreen, great camera, nice keyboard, amazing touchscreen, very fast, nice design, and customizable.
Cons: Resets itself a lot, and screen turns off sometimes when I'm scrolling.

Summary: I have had this phone for about a month and a half and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!! This is my favorite phone I have ever had. I used to have the Palm Pixi and I adored that phone and this phone is pretty much the Android version of it! All my friends use my phone instead of their own because they like it so much. I don't like touch screen keyboards or sliding phones so this phone is perfect for me. I would recommend it to anybody.

Productivity God of Cellphones!
by absalon78 on June 9, 2011
Pros: Battery life, keyboard, signal strength and call quality, 1Ghz cpu

Summary: Loving this phone so far! I got it on release day. Most of my time is spent either using corporate email, gmail or texting, and web. This phone is great at all those 3 tasks. Its not ugly as the picture makes it seem. In fact, Its very classy looking (I've gotten tons of compliments with it) and has a few cosmetic changes from the Droid Pro, like the soft paint back cover and extended battery by default. So far a great phone but it is certainly not for everyone. This is not an entertainment powerhouse, although its decent (1Ghz single core) for youtube, amazon cloud player, twitter, fb,. Downside is definitely the camera, video recording and pictures are mediocre so don't expect this to replace your digital camera. You can skip motoblur integration but the UI is still there(Like the Droid Pro it has a special non intrusive version of Motoblur, thanks Motorola). I'm still getting used to it after using stock android for so long. I'm bummed that you cannot have custom roms for this cute guy but otherwise I highly recommend this phone to anyone who is the concerned to being connected anywhere at anytime. I travel often to Serbia so I'm happy with the fact that it has a GSM radio too. It's unlocked by default but only for overseas use. In the US is bound to Sprint. This phone has a champion keyboard! 3.1 screen may be in the smaller side for many people considering the other sprint options (4 and 4.3 in) but as I said, dont buy this phone if you are the entertainment junkie type of person. This is definitely more for the email, text, web, aim, productivity person who will casually use it for some entertainment. This is a WIN for Motorola. I had to carry a blackberry for work and and android for regular use but I finally ditched the crackberry. I'm hoping the second iteration will some sort of physical cursor, front facing camera for skype, quick, and 4G

Miss a real keyboard...this is for you!
by maddog2727 on June 23, 2011
Pros: Keyboard, large battery, customizable side button, able to turn on by pushing any key, app launching though keyboard shortcuts, don't have to remove battery for SD card, notification light is separate from battery charging light.
Cons: Camera, keyboard is slightly cramped, still on Android 2.2, you can only pick silent or vibrate...not both. Need a third party app to fix this.
Summary: I love android phones. I had an EVO...but I really missed my physical keyboard. I am mainly a web surfer, texter, and emailer. I got frustrated when typing quickly ...
Summary: I love android phones. I had an EVO...but I really missed my physical keyboard. I am mainly a web surfer, texter, and emailer. I got frustrated when typing quickly on an on-screen keyboard.
This phone is amazing for anyone who needs a keyboard (not a vertical keyboard...ew) a la Blackberry. While slightly cramped, you do get used to typing on it. Love the quick launch key. I have my camera assigned to it so I can quickly take a picture of something.
The small screen is not bothersome at all. This is not meant to be an entertainment device...if you need to watch lots of videos and such...get a phone with a larger screen.
I did notice there was one app that was not compatible with this phone, the ESPN score center app. Then again, ESPN sucks anyhow, I went back to the Score Mobile App.
This is a fantastic phone that meets all business needs with the power of android behind it. While people may poo-poo blackberries, there are still those that prefer to have a real keyboard to type on instead of sending texts and emails that would appear on "damnyouautocorrect.com".1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Super beast. Love it.
by Dirtrat1966 on June 18, 2011
Pros: Blackberry style keyboard with touchscreen and Android OS. Easy to navigate around. Battery lasts about 48 hours with moderate use and a conditioned battery. Sturdy design.
Cons: None yet after a week. Maybe a bit heavy.
Summary: My wife got a Blackberry Bold the same day I got my XPRT. A few days later, we went back to the Sprint store so she could return her Blackberry ...

Extremely function
by edcleve on June 6, 2011
Pros: Full QWERTY keyboard, very clear & readable screen, good memory, nice Motorblur widgets, easy startup on HotSpot wi-fi & Bluetooth
Cons: Difficult to add/find new notification sounds. Unable to get some widgets deleted off of the screens.

Summary: I am only 24 hours into using this phone but am generally quite pleased with the phone, especially with the keyboard that makes sending emails & text messages so easy. I left my Blackberry Tour a long time ago for the world of Android, but I must admit I missed the real keyboard. I have never like the slider with the keyboard that I have to use both hands to use. I feel very much like I am typing on a Blackberry again, but with a much more functional OS in Android. I was able to update the phone with all of my apps thanks to Appbrain. It has taken a bit, but there seems to be lots of memory left after downloading a LOT of apps! The social apps seem to work well, too, but I have barely touched them. The phone is fast and functional, and does all that I need it to do. I don't have time to watch TV and movies anyway - that's why I'm glad we've finally got a "business" phone!

More than a Phone, really a business phone...
by RickMotos on August 6, 2012
Pros: Excellent phone, idea for Business people and IT guys as well. I saw the full specification of this phone in Motoask .
Cons: Camera is not too good
Summary: Do not compare XPRT with Droid PRO, XPRT has more features and really good for business people and heavy users.

Like the phone but overheats and shuts off.
by dontho241 on August 3, 2012
Pros: Like the keyboard for typing. The phone is easy to use and find things.
Cons: Had the phone only a few days and it is overheating and shuts down. Not reliable. Will be going back and either exchanging and getting a different phone. Setting different sounds for different contacts seems difficult if at all possible.
Summary: Not at all happy with my 1st experience with an android phone. I'm use to the Blackberry, which never had a problem. I'll give it one more try ...

AWESOME DEVICE!!! Hurts my heart to have to return it.
by caprice457 on June 28, 2012
Pros: Receptive touch screen, physical keyboard, call quality, bottomless pit of apps, user interface, etc., etc., and then some!
Cons: Glitchy, error message when I tried to play You Tube, overheats.

(This is more of an I-forgot-to-mention-a-couple-of-things update than an actual update.)
Got the phone yesterday. Had a check list of things that had to be good for me to keep it. Speaker phone: great! Call volume: great. I even had to turn it down. Alarm: good. Camera: good. Apps: Android seems to have wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than Blackberry and that was great! Kindle app: awesome on this phone!
Things went from 1st class to coach when I tried to watch You Tube. Day one: Vids would take minutes to load. Then the screen would freeze. Next day: Vids would take minutes to load. Then, error message. Took it to local Sprint store. Rep and manager tried to get it going. Long story short, rep returned it to me and told me that it had overheated, is defected and should be returned to the Sprint store where I picked it up. The first night, when I charged it, the back of the phone did get pretty hot. I'm talkin', if I put it in my bag next to a receipt, that receipt just might go up in smoke. In my bag. Not good! In addition, the screen will sometimes turn white or just shut down when I try to activate an app. This phone also lags quite a bit.
This is only day two. o_O
Packed it up tonight(sob...sniff.) I'm afraid to try another XPRT as many of the reviews I've read about this phone, others are experiencing the same glitches and overheating, even after they've exchanged it for other XPRT's. However, that phone is a piece of lovely. There'll be an update to this review if I do decide to brave another XPRT.

Facebook! As much as I loved the XPRT, it let me down a little in that area too. It's very slow to open. Once on the main FB screen, I tried to go to my timeline. Either it would take a few minutes, or it wouldn't take my timeline at all. I tried this in several different locations; same results. A couple of times, I tried to reply to a post or update my status on the XPRT. I'd check back only to find it didn't post. As with my Blackberry 9700, once I'd click on a photo, it took a while to enlargen. Then again, with the XPRT, all I have to do is the finger thing. But, if I want the photo to come up on it's own page, yeah, took a couple of minutes or so.
Even with all of these drawbacks, I still want to give this phone another chance. *sigh* We'll see...
