Summary: A great phone with alot of value. This phone offers a great camera and video quality which is backed up by 65,536-colour screen. The symbian Os operating system allows you to run a wide range of applications as well as Java games which allows you to constantly update your phone. The low battery life can sometimes be a hassle but overall is only a minor set back for such a light weight, stylish phone.

I am on my THIRD 3230 because the previous two were faulty. That raised build quality questions that I directed to Nokia. They blamed Orange's software for the regular crashes, which included the phone switching itself off and the Bluetooth option deactivating itself.
Poor software and/or build quality aside, the 3230 is a nice phone that functions well. Calls are crystal clear. Battery life is excellent (I need to recharge about once a week).
There are one or two very annoying features, however.
Firstly, each received call or SMS is heralded by a loud beep. No matter what your favourite ringtone is, the effect is ruined. There is no option to deactivate this annoying noise. If any techies out there know of any software that can switch it off, please post it!
Secondly, the screen light goes out after a few seconds and there is no option to alter that time setting. This is very annoying when you're passing your phone around your mates in the pub so they can read a text or view an image. "The light's gone out!" is a familiar call.
Having said that, it has a very good 1.2 mp camera that performs well even in poor light. However, there is a slight delay between pressing the button and the image capture, which is annoying.
I use the 3230's Bluetooth feature with a JABRA BT200 headset while I am driving. It pairs up without any problems and it performs very well.
Nokia provide free PC software (PC SUITE) so that the phone can be accessed via Bluetooth, IR or cable. This software is regularly updated and it works well, allowing the phone's contents to be stored and edited. SMS can also be sent from your PC using PC Suite.
In conclusion, the 3230 is a phone that you won't be ashamed of. The failings mentioned above do not detract from it being a very good handset.
If you get a good one, you will like it. If you get a bad one, it will drive you crazy!Updated
Oops! I was a tad generous when reviewing the battery life. I get about 4 days out it, depending on use. I am a light user, however. Other reviewers have experienced problems with the battery, so perhaps the talk time is not as good as it should be.
Remember, your battery will perform much better if you allow it to run flat at least once a month. I hardly ever recharge unless the 'battery low' alarm is on.Updated
I have done a bit more research and it would appear that most (if not all) of my 3230's glitches are caused by the firmware. In their wisdom, Orange decided that they knew better than Nokia and flashed every 3230 with their own bug-ridden firmware.
I asked Orange if they could reflash my phone. They admitted that their firmware was responsible. They stopped short of saying that it was written by a 12-tear-old geek who never leaves his bedroom. Orange declined my request to re-flash the phone.
The moral? The 3230 is a very good handset but don't get one from Orange. -
A pretty stylish phone, value for money for its price.

Pros: Big screen, nice resolution, simple and stylish.
Cons: Reaction is somewhat "retarded" and not spontaneous, a tendency to hang occasionally despite softward being upgraded.

Summary: I feel that this is more of a guy's phone, in the lower range of Nokia's mobile phones. The big screen is a big selling point, with its reasonably clear resolution. The buttons however are a little small and makes messaging a little tedious. The slower reaction of the phone is really a big discount to the overall efficiency of the phone.
