Nokia Lumia 900 - black (AT&T) price range: $0.01 - $399.99

The good: The Nokia Lumia 900's eye-popping unibody design sets a new direction for smartphone style. Its LTE speeds, vivid 4.3-inch screen, and 8-megapixel camera are high points.
The bad: Problems with call quality and minor design flaws like some gaps in the construction and weirdly placed buttons get in the way. The designer camera optics are good, but they don't live up to the hype. The phone shoots 720p video rather than 1080p video.
The bottom line: The Nokia Lumia 900's unique design and high-end features make Windows Phone look fantastic, and the $99 price is extremely fair. Despite some flaws, this is my favorite Windows Phone yet.

Incredible Design
by thisistheslam on April 6, 2012
Pros: Great screen, durable build quality, 4G LTE, antenna supports T-Mobile 3G/HSPA+ in the US, great camera, and pleasing aesthetics.
Cons: No expandable micro SD slot, only available on AT&T as of the launch, and no 1080p HD recording (but who cares?)
Summary: This is a brilliant phone. I had the chance to demo it from a Nokia rep a couple months before it launched. I was sold the moment I touched it. ...
Summary: This is a brilliant phone. I had the chance to demo it from a Nokia rep a couple months before it launched. I was sold the moment I touched it. While it's not exactly the greatest phone ever created, it sure does make a statement. Coupled with the great Windows Phone 7 OS, this is a device worth owning. The lack of 1080p video recording isn't missed, and will certainly help consolidate space on the internal hard drive by keeping with 720p (WP8 will remedy this for the high-end handset diehards). An excellent choice at $99 with contract, $449 without! And to critique the video review, there are several Windows Phone 7 devices that use micro SD cards. My retiring Samsung Focus is one of them. Do some homework people!

not good enough Nokia
by RobC12345 on May 1, 2012
Pros: feels comfortable in the hand and doesn't slip very easily
neat windows interface, i liked the email client
terrific battery life
texting keyboard and audible sounds
live tiles are pretty coolCons: kinda heavy
NO APPS! At least not that are cross-platform to the iphone or android market
text tones cannot be custom downloaded tunes/ only what is available on the phone
TERRIBLE camera
screen isn't HD or that brightSummary: I loved the way the phone looked and the windows interface, i think with some significant updates this would be good enough for me to want to make the switch ...
Summary: I loved the way the phone looked and the windows interface, i think with some significant updates this would be good enough for me to want to make the switch from iphone to windows phone, but there are some things that need to change with the software that is. The phone felt kind of heavy and the corners were rather pointy so when it sits in your pocket its very obvious its there. The battery life was amazing, much better than any other cell phone i have ever used but this is likely because the phone really doesn't do much.
There are absolutely no apps from the windows market that i felt were even good enough to try on my phone, pretty much the only app i play on Iphone is Words with Friends and they don't even have that! And definitely no Anti-virus programs which is a bummer as Windows phones are vulnerable to viruses just like Android phones.
You cannot use custom text tones, they have to be the tones installed on the phone. The screen is definitely not HD, even though it is rather large you can definitely tell when surfing the web and looking at what should normally be very vivid photos or wallpapers for your phone. Internet Explorer was OK but would be nice if we could use Firefox or Chrome instead.
The camera is GARBAGE! For making a big to-do over Carl Zeiss optics, the images were terrible, unclear (both indoor up close or outdoor) and only 720p.
I loved the keyboard and texting on this phone, i felt that it was much superior to the Iphone in the tones that they used and the simple layout, plus i loved that you could use the voice controls to send text messages and make calls and stuff. I found that system to be fairly accurate. That was a definite step up from what i was expecting!
In short, i returned this phone after a week for the simple fact that this phone was released nearly a year and a half after the Iphone 4 and it in no way (except the keyboard) exceeded the performance of the Iphone (IMO). I will wait for the new Iphone 5 to be released to make another switch. I have also tried the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and felt that was a very underwhelming phone as well.0 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Just got the phone, runs silky smooth, has pretty much everything and just found out that one app I missed is being ported over quickly. So many apps coming out they said they are in line to get approval. Camera is nice but I heard there is an update coming. Call quality is phenominial, LTE is being rolled out here so I will have to wait to get that. Overall way better than my Android(it never worked right after upgrading the OS)..

Summary: I bought this phone biecause I wanted something different and yes I did get different but I also got disappointment. Windows 7 is seriously lacking with the huge tiles, there should be a way to customize the size and shape of tiles. When choosing a theme, every tile color is the same which makes it seem like one long never ending window. There seems to not be a lot of design in the OS because it's basically just blocks and letters and it feels really outdated! I was really wanting ti like this phone but sadly I'll have to return it and maybe revisit this OSwhen it's a little more mature.....

Does not have power to jolt one out of iPhone trance
by hyd15 on April 10, 2012
Pros: 1. Good interface
2. Receptive touch screen
3. Great maps featureCons: Active sync does not work, gmail and yahoo keep throwing errors, phone gets smudges very easily. There is a crevice around the glass assembly which easily retains dust and hard to remove.
Summary: I really wanted to give WM and chance even after knowing some of the drawbacks with lack of apps, imessage etc. But day 1 was a complete waste in trying ...
Summary: I really wanted to give WM and chance even after knowing some of the drawbacks with lack of apps, imessage etc. But day 1 was a complete waste in trying to setup the phone. Did not wait till day 2 and returned the phone. When a competitor can figure out Microsoft's app (active sync) there is no reason in the world why it should not work on your device.

Might be a great phone if it actually worked.
by Tondalayo on April 14, 2012
Pros: Uh, its real purty.
Cons: It doesn't work.
Summary: I'll wait until the software glitches get worked out and then I'll try it again. As of now, its worthless.

Nothing new. Very disappointing.
by FreeRange1 on April 9, 2012
Pros: Colorful tiles.
Cons: This device offers nothing new compared to the competitors. Not many apps. Slow, sluggish operation. Its like the person that designed it had attention deficit disorder and designed a page in a fashion magazine instead of a truly innovative product.
Summary: MSFT continues to disappoint. I'm giving this phone away to my 6 year old and going back to Android, or probably an iPhone.

Updated on Jun 9, 2012Summary:
You can definitely see the Microsoft Users come out of the cave to thumbs down every true review on here. Not saying mine is a true review, but I am sorry MS users this phone just can't cut it. No HD screen, camera takes 720p video which is substandard, it's made out of plastic so it feels cheap, and the UI is atrocious and working through it is on par with what Vista was. Look at all the big reviews of Windows 8, people are hating it because it is hard to navigate and clunky. Why do you think Gates left you guys?

Great hardware. I didn't like OS.
by dcardozo on April 4, 2012
Pros: Hardware feels great, in the line of the N9.
Cons: Windows OS made it difficult to make some things that seem easy in other phones.
Summary: I'd love one of these running Android 4 instead.
