Nokia Lumia 900 - black (AT&T) price range: $0.01 - $399.99

The good: The Nokia Lumia 900's eye-popping unibody design sets a new direction for smartphone style. Its LTE speeds, vivid 4.3-inch screen, and 8-megapixel camera are high points.
The bad: Problems with call quality and minor design flaws like some gaps in the construction and weirdly placed buttons get in the way. The designer camera optics are good, but they don't live up to the hype. The phone shoots 720p video rather than 1080p video.
The bottom line: The Nokia Lumia 900's unique design and high-end features make Windows Phone look fantastic, and the $99 price is extremely fair. Despite some flaws, this is my favorite Windows Phone yet.

The most solid phone I've ever had, especially with WP7
by caczech on April 13, 2012
Pros: -Extremely tough, comfortable build
-Extremely fast (faster than my last phone - Samsung Focus, and that one was already snappy)
-Battery life rocks
-4G LTE is jaw-droppingly awesome
-The Nokia-exclusive apps are a major value one shouldn't overlookCons: -Don't discredit yet, I'm getting used to the camera, but so far it's working good
-Somehow I feel the micro-USB is a tad short... shrug, that's me being nitpicky
-THIS IS NOT A CON OF THE DEVICE, BUT OF THE STATUS QUO: WP7 deserves more attention!Summary: Okay, I am what many would consider an early adopter at times. I had the first Samsung Focus within a month of launch. Ever since, that phone has been an ...
Summary: Okay, I am what many would consider an early adopter at times. I had the first Samsung Focus within a month of launch. Ever since, that phone has been an awesome experience. However, even though I've been dedicated to Samsung for years with their phones, Nokia lured me away for a number of reasons (sorry Samsung, you didn't get a 4G LTE Windows Phone out fast enough)... First off, I seriously wanted a phone that actually felt like it was made for Windows Phone, and Nokia nailed it bar none. In fact, all Windows Phone handsets should follow Nokia's example of making something both solid, yet elegant. I seriously cannot get over how good this phone feels in my hand! Believe me when I say that getting used to the power/lock button on the same side as the volume and camera took nearly no getting used to at all. In fact, I actually think it's better, so I can have all my control on one side. Now with all that said, allow me to emphasize one of the greatest features on the phone: the screen. The Focus used a Super-AMOLED, but this AMOLED with clear-black is just way beyond words. People b*&%# about the resolution, and I say it really is handled to the highest extent considering. Furthermore, the reflective aspect of this screen is also amazing. Seriously, you can look at it in daylight and not have to squint. Going onto the 4G LTE, I live in Kansas City, and it is just mindblowing. My web pages are loading at a pace I cannot comprehend. I supposed I would be able to if ever a "5G" device makes it out. But moving on, the fact you can get 4G LTE for a cool hundred is a no brainer. But that gets me to another item.
Windows Phone is seriously a different OS that deserves attention in the mainstream market. Tech sites like Windows Phone immensely. Many complain of the limited number of apps. Well, allow me to remind the public that when Windows Phone launched there were only 2,000. Now the 100K mark will be breached this summer, so I don't even want anyone to say "there are no apps," because there are many who will disagree. Plus, when you also have integration from Facebook and Twitter (something I don't use BTW), which also includes FB chat stock in the messaging hub, what's not to like?! And the camera functionality is actually what other phone standards should try to mimic more of, because using a Windows Phone camera is to me the best! Right now though, I've been trying to get adjusted to using the onboard Zeiss lens on this puppy, and so far it's going good, but I know I'll become used to it. Oh yeah, have an XBOX 360? Well, I'm just going to say that the integration of Live on board is just awesome. Heck, since using Windows Phone, I've gained 200+ gamerscore on this platform, so needless to say it really is a gamer phone too.
I seriously think Windows Phone, once again, deserves more attention because of all that I said, and this phone too. So there you have it. A hundred bucks you get a solid device on 4G LTE, with a superb mobile OS. If you want to pay the same for less, especially talking iPhone, that's your choice, but I have to say you have no idea what you are missing.
All that I have said only scratches the surface on not only how awesome it truly is, the phone and OS, but the amount of satisfaction current users have.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Very Good Phone, fluid, no lag. Solid reliable.

Pros: Task oriented phone, good for office workers looking for a solid office based phone. Reliable. No lags or crashes. Gets the job done. Setup well. Skydrive 25GIGABYTES for free online storage.
Cons: Missing a few apps I need but not a big deal. Weaker camera but not terrible. A small learning curve. NOT A GAMING PHONE. Some confusing setup options. Some bloatware.
Summary: Good decent phone. Excellent w/ no lag. Task oriented business phone. Great for work and casual browsing, music and pics. Not a gaming phone. Closed ecosystem might turn off "hackers". ...

Best Windows phone on the market hands down!
by yialanliu on April 4, 2012

Nokia Drive is my favorite GPS application on any cell phone and beats anything out there.Cons: Need more apps in the marketplace.

Summary: Don't read Cnet's review. They don't know anything. For instance "It won't outsell the Samsung Galaxy S II or iPhone 4S (which together gobble up 95 percent of all smartphone profits)"
That's the biggest lie out there. Apple and Samsung with all of their products make up 95%, not 2 products. Cnet doesn't know what they are talking about and just distort numbers and figures. Since when are they a forecaster for how much a mobile phone will cell? Yes Samsung and Apple sell a lot now, that doesn't mean it'll always be true.3 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I switched from an iPhone 4S, a long time Apple fanboy. I didn't like how Apple controls everything users do and stopped changing the OS. I understand it works, so why change it, but as a tech guru I wanted something different. The luma is a step in the right direction for Windows phones, and this means a lot coming from an Apple nut.

Great phone.
by Awesomes007 on April 9, 2012
Pros: Absolutely stunning piece of hardware. Good size for my hands (the Focus was a little small). Great call and sound quality. Really good display. Great operating system. Good button placement. Front camera is a blast with Tango conferencing app.
Cons: Slight lag when typing on the soft keyboard. The jury is still out on the polarized screen. Not seeing any improvement in data speed over my Focus in the Boise area yet. The Marketplace still lacks a few apps that my friends invite me to use.
Summary: Great phone and worthy upgrade from the great Samsung Focus. I can't wait to see what Nokia has in store over the next couple years. General smartphone complaints - ...
Summary: Great phone and worthy upgrade from the great Samsung Focus. I can't wait to see what Nokia has in store over the next couple years. General smartphone complaints - soft keyboards are terrible. Most of my app data is lost every time I have to reset or replace a phone (seems to happen about every four months). I now have two leftover Samsung Focuses and will soon have a third when the girlfriend spots a 900 in anything remotely pink.

Only truely long term alternative to the iPhone!
by cloud880 on April 8, 2012
Pros: - great, unique design
- zippy OS
- beautiful & people centric interface
- Microsoft Office
- very user-frendly
- it works! Gets the job done well.
- cheaper than the iPhone. I reckon better value (for me at least).Cons: - battery life.
- can't change text font, can't make the phone Silenet (no ringing/vibrate), cant tilt lock, can't do a bunch of minor changes that they really SHOULD
- The do have good games and most of the major apps, but still needs improving.Summary: No point comparing the Lumia to Apple or Android. The Lumia today is NOT better than iPhone or the top end Andriods. The difference in pricing (+ LTE) does level the ...
Summary: No point comparing the Lumia to Apple or Android. The Lumia today is NOT better than iPhone or the top end Andriods. The difference in pricing (+ LTE) does level the playing field in terms of value though.
Lumia is truly one for the future. A 3rd Eco-system that is going no where. I see it growing from strength to strength, especially once Windows 8 arrives. Is the Lumia for you?
I will say yes if:
- you don't want to wait 2 years for a "different" iPhone (unless you can convince yourself 4S is different from the 4)
- you like something simple, that just works great
- value conscious buyer
- enjoy being unique and different
- you are an early adopter of technology
- seek future intergration with your desktop/laptop
I struggled with this quite a bit, but I decided the Lumia deserves a 5. I would give the same to iPhone and Samsung GS2. Just because of its price, it deserves the 5.
Sure there is a lot to work on, but I am certain MS and Nokia will be hard at work to fix many of these issues. Well let's face it, they have no other choice.
Bottomline, if you do buy the phone, I seriously doubt you will regret it.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Wow... Just a beautiful piece of hardware and software
by barrett1134 on April 4, 2012
Pros: This thing is beautiful to look at, but holding it and actually using it has a real "WOW" factor. I am very impressed. It is clear that Windows Phones have moved a step beyond the interface that Apple made so popular and that Android mimicked.
Cons: A few of my favorite apps from my wife's iPhone are not available yet, so that is a bummer. The good news is that the ones available on both iOS and Windows Phone OS, generally look and feel better on the Windows Phone.
Summary: This is the first phone since using my wife's iPhone where I have literally said "wow!" out loud when holding and using it. It is surprisingly good, and an ...
