The good: The Nokia Lumia 900's eye-popping unibody design sets a new direction for smartphone style. Its LTE speeds, vivid 4.3-inch screen, and 8-megapixel camera are high points.
The bad: Problems with call quality and minor design flaws like some gaps in the construction and weirdly placed buttons get in the way. The designer camera optics are good, but they don't live up to the hype. The phone shoots 720p video rather than 1080p video.
The bottom line: The Nokia Lumia 900's unique design and high-end features make Windows Phone look fantastic, and the $99 price is extremely fair. Despite some flaws, this is my favorite Windows Phone yet.

Summary: You cannot find a better deal than the Nokia Lumia 900. I've never owned a Nokia before but after getting my Lumia 900 I might be a customer for life. This phone is made of a material I have never seen or felt before. It feels very solid, smooth and high quality. The cyan color is absolutely beautiful and is definitely the color to get as it really stands out as a special phone. Everything else just looks plain and boring next to this phone.
The ClearBlack AMOLED display is absolutely gorgeous and blows away any washed out LCD like the iPhone's. Colors are much more vibrant and images appear to float on the top of the screen like an actual photograph. Blacks are so dark and inky that you can't even tell where the screen meets the bezel. There are videos online comparing the iPhone vs. Lumia 900 and there is no contest; Lumia's display is much better looking and much bigger.
The signal strength is amazing and calls sound much better than any phone I've had. Visual voicemail is included with this phone for free and it works extremely well. 4G LTE speeds are blazing fast in NYC. You can get downloads in the range of 20Mbps on this phone. That is faster than most people's home broadband connection. Internet connection sharing with up to 5 other devices is available on some data plans as well. The external speaker on the phone has great volume and since it is on the bottom instead of the back it doesn't get muffled when you put the phone down on a surface or hold it in your hand. Outstanding design Nokia!
The camera is very good and can be brought up even when the phone is locked just by holding down the dedicated camera button. You can snap photos in widescreen or fullscreen mode and upload directly to Facebook Twitter or Skydrive without having to open another app. Worth mentioning you also get 25GB of free cloud storage with SkyDrive. Very nice!
So far battery life has been incredible by smartphone standards. After using my phone all day yesterday to look at apps, browse the web, take photos, listen to music, etc. I had almost 50% battery left by the end of the day. This phone can last you a day and a half easily on a single charge.
AT&T includes some nice apps like U-verse video streaming and MyWireless to check your data usage change your plan or pay your bills. You also get a ton of exclusive apps like Nokia's turn by turn navigation and public transit apps. Nokia owns Navteq the mapping company which provides map data for tons of companies like Garmin so this is a major addition to the value of the phone. There are also exclusive CNN, ESPN, Univision, and college sports applications on Nokia's Lumia phones. These apps are excellent and all have 4 or 5 star ratings from users. There are also a few dozen exclusive apps coming from Electronic Arts for the Lumia phones. I love earning Xbox Live achievements on the go. You can even see your friends avatars and edit your Xbox Live avatar on this phone!
There are a ton of great apps on Windows Phone so I'll just highlight a few of my favorites: YouTube Pro lets you download and upload videos to Youtube right from a tile on your start screen. It can play videos in HD as well and you can pin any Youtube channel you subscribe to on the start screen. The pinned live tile will update with the image of any new video that is uploaded to that Youtube channel. Radio Controlled is a Pandora music app that plays all of your Pandora playlists. Gmaps Pro gives you Google Maps on your phone including Google Latitude to track your friends and family. "Hey DJ" lets you use your voice to load songs, artists and playlists. Windows Phone also comes with great apps like voice search and voice to launch any app just by holding down the Windows button and saying "Start Netflix" or "Open Netflix." Fastest way to launch apps in my opinion. You can also search for weather by saying "weather" or find movie show times nearby just by saying "movies." This is Siri without the fluff and back-talk, it just works and it works fast.
Most of the popular apps are available as well from Kindle/Audible to USA Today/Fox News to Skype/Tango to Kik/WhatsApp to iHeartRadio/TuneIn to Netflix/Vevo to ESPN/MLB at Bat to GasBuddy/Yelp to eBay/Amazon to Twitter/Facebook to Shazam/SoundHound to WeatherChannel/Accuweather to Spotify/Rdio to Slacker/Last.FM to Flixster/Fandango to Bible/Dictionary to Glympse/IMDB you get the idea. This phone has apps, don't believe anyone who says otherwise. By the end of May the Windows Phone platform will have over 100,000 apps in total.
My complaints about the phone are minor, but I wish that they had spaced out the hardware buttons more on the side. The volume rocker should have been higher and the camera button a little bit lower. Sometimes it is a bit hard to find the power button in the middle; a little raised bump like those on your keyboard would have helped. I also would have liked an SD card slot to expand memory. Apps are usually less than 1MB, but if you have a lot of videos or a ton of songs you are going to need to compress them to fit on the 16GB of storage. Fortunately Zune PC software does an excellent job of handling this behind the scenes, you can even tell the software the exact bitrate you want it to make all of your songs and it will only compress them on the device, not your PC. Finally not all games have been updated yet to support fast app switching (hold down the back arrow to bring up the task switcher), this is changing over time though as each developer updates their games. All new games seem to support the fast app switching as well.
Given the insanely low price of this phone, the rare exceptional quality of the hardware, the blazing LTE speeds, and the high quality of the Windows Phone platform you would be crazy to pass up this phone. Nokia has truly made something special here in the Lumia 900.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Love screen size.
Speedy response.
Love the program.Cons: Data connectivity lost. Nokia says an update fixes the problem. Not so. Received refurbished replacement that has the same problem. Must reset/reboot continually to have data. With the refurnished device I'm told my voice fades in and out.

Nokia won't do anything about the problem except have me mail in the phone so their technician can try to fix it, even though the problem is well known. Loss of data connectivity reported all over the internet with this device. My cellular service provider will only keep offering to send me yet another refurbished device. They will at least override the upgrade I used to buy it so I can buy another phone at a discounted price and restart the contract renewal. Still, I'm out the money I paid for the phone.

So far, the Nokia Lumia 900 has done a great job. I'm still getting used to the loss of alphanumeric keypad texting, but what makes up for it is the ability to send a multimedia message without wondering when it will send, as the C6-01 did. The only real drawback is the call quality, but it could be that because the phone is so large I have not found a comfort area for the phone to not sound clear when on a call. I'm still learning the operating system and the location of certain applications, but this should make for a great experience. Dont let me down again Nokia, or it's the end of the road for you.
Well, it's been about 2-3 months with this phone, and overall, I like it. Still runs really fast, I'm finding stuff a lot easier, and looking through the available apps, I've found some pretty cool ones. What still disappoints me is the Windows Marketplace still does not have many of the apps I would like, to keep up with iOS or Android (i.e., there is no update for the Angry Birds app, and none of the other additions of the game). Also, the audio playback when taking video, and using the speakerphone, is very subpar to, say, any other Nokia phone. I cant wait to see what the Lumia 920 will bring to the table.

Updated on Apr 18, 2013Welp, nearly 9 months down the line and I still like this phone. It's still very easy to use and very responsive. Right now, the only drawbacks still include the app store, which seems to get apps that iOS and Android have, several months too late. As for updates to the phone's overall operating system, 7.5 runs and works great, but I have been unable to get the 7.8 update, as the phone continues to say that my phone is up to date. Not having the update is not hurting things, but wouldnt mind having it. -

Pros: Nice screen, very fast.
Cons: No Flash so I'm limited to sites that I can visit; data connection problems are common; Windows 8 and all future upgrades won't be supported; camera images are grainy and dark; many popular games not supported (Draw Something, Words With Friends)

Summary: Just feel like I did some research and found a lot of glowing reviews about a phone that had a 6 month shelf life. I get that technology is ever changing, but you hope that your 2 year commitment with no upgrade during that time will get you a device that can, you know, upgrade. As it stands with no Flash support, inferior navigation system, low quality camera, lack of popular games, and erratic data connection, this may be Nokia's final attempt at relevance gone horribly wrong.

First of their completely free and they work no matter where you are. Unlike Apple and Android manufacturers, Nokia actually thinks that the phone and its services needs to work everywhere and the turn by turn navigation is just flawless.
Nokia Music is the second best thing: I dont own spotify and to be honest I dont think I even need to. I have Nokia music loaded with over 15million songs that works increadibly well. If I need a certain song I can just download/buy it from the same app (Nokia music) that i use to listen the music. This is a great app for me because I travel a lot and perhaps I dont like to listen a radio host that I cannot understand, instead I use my Nokia music which does not have any radio hosts or commercial brakes just Music.
The camera has had some bad rewiews propably because the N8's camera is still better than well any other than Nokia 808 camera and the Lumia 900 is not quite there. It still is very good though, and to get that quality better there are apps ready to be downloaded from the marketplace or you can just adjust the settings your self, the automatic settings arent usually the best possible but even they get the job done. Zoom is quite bad but thats a con of every smartphone camera exept perhaps the 808 which to me is more a camera than a phone.
Call quality is really good, I talk around 1-3hours a day and i have never ever missed a call with this baby, all i can say is that exellent job Nokia.
Quality is one thing that I admire in aspect of life, wether its phone, car, home, tv... This is for Microsoft mostly but exellent job with the apps, I have not find a half baked app even though I download a lot of apps. I have found apps that does not serve my purpose but that doesnt mean that they do not since they do and they work flawlessly.
Design: Thank you Marko Ahtisaari and your team the N9 design is the hit at the moment, it stands out and it feels awesome. It feels premium in the hand not like most other phones that feels like cheap plastic toy.
If you want to listen music or watch a movie and you dont have your headphones with you thats when the loud speaker gets to be used and its not too loud but I can hear it very well. Thats good enough for me by the way :)
The most important thing for a smartphone is to get things done, wether its updating your facebook, sending an email, making a phone call, typing a message, making a note to your calendar or to your notebook etc. This phone does those things and it really does it nice and smooth, it doesnt freeze in a middle of a message it doesnt bug and not open the app you want. It just works and that combined with the awesome Office 360 from Microsoft and you really have a jewel in your hand.
And yes, it makes me smile. I love my phone theres no other way around it. And it makes me laugh when I see someone at work using an iPhone and shortly after the phone call starts the sound: DAMN! Missed call again! or the Android user who says, frozen again.
Ironically I can walk and say to those people with a big smile on my face that you should get a phone not a toy.
This rewiew comes from a Finnish guy who thinks he knows a little about smartphones, I have iPhone 4s(dusting in the shelter), Samsung Galaxy S2 (In the trash can), Nokia N9 (Sold to fiances sister) and a Nokia Lumia 900 (which I use). -

Pros: The VERY best phone I have ever owned. Beautiful, everything works and it is so new and refreshing! Just can't say enough about it. So fast and perfect and beautiful. It really is nice to hold and use. Best phone out there in my opinion.
Cons: Only thing I am not completely happy with is the camera. It is good but my Samsung Galaxy SII had the best camera of any phone including the iphone. I am also waiting for Windows 8. This phone will rock with perfect camera and windows 8!
