Nokia Lumia 920 price range: $99.99 - $529.99

The good: The Nokia Lumia 920 forges new Windows Phone ground with wireless charging support and a highly sensitive screen you can use with gloves. Moreover, Nokia helps fill in Windows Phone OS gaps with a few missing features.
The bad: A thick, heavy build and slippery finish for some colors make the Lumia 920 harder to hold and carry, and the phone's overhyped camera doesn't have enough settings.
The bottom line: Nokia's Lumia 920 is heavy and thick, but if you want the most powerful, feature-rich Windows phone available, this is it.

How are reviews not saying how much this crushes iphone
by FuriouslyNick on November 9, 2012
Pros: Clear Screen, nice camera, LIVE TILES, nice look of e-mail messages, access to office docs, music service, smartglass for xbox, etc etc..this phone rocks.
Cons: At&t plans are not competitively priced, so you might pay less for the phone but you will feel it in your service contract. Other than that no cons that I can see.

Summary: Whoever says this phone is too heavy needs to go to the dr and get checked for muscular problems. It might be heavy compared to the iphone5, but the iphone5 also feels too light and very cheap in your hands. This is a great phone and the win8 software rocks. The integration between the phone, xbox, and PC is very cool. Instantly playing music and photos through tv/surround system is a cool feature. Not having to mess with the xbox controller to change netflix or whatever is on the xbox is a nice touch. Another cool feature is being able to see what stores/restaurants/misc is around you in a few seconds. I don't see how anyone would prefer the Iphone os over this.

An incredibly capable phone for a reasonable price
by brandontkeenan on November 9, 2012
Pros: Fast, like really fast
Great Camera
Excellent Call quality
Gorilla Glass 2
46/50 of the top 50 apps in the world in the app store
Price
Screen works with gloves
Free wireless charging matCons: Lack of apps (while not as big of a problem as with WP7, it's 120k vs 700k+ active apps in the iOS store)
Weight (its only .4oz more than my iPhone 4s with a case) which wasn't of much problem to me
No headphones included with deviceSummary: Overall it is a stand out device which is definitely worth the look if your tired of the same user experience and want something exciting and original. It's quick ...
Summary: Overall it is a stand out device which is definitely worth the look if your tired of the same user experience and want something exciting and original. It's quick and responsive screen makes using it easy and enjoyable. It feels great in the hand with the curved back and its weight is substantial enough to where you know your holding a phone after all it is a Nokia. I couldn't be happier with my upgrade from my iPhone 4s to finally get a product that does change the game and is not a carbon copy of every other phone on the market. The five colors in the United States only adds to the personality and customization of the device.

Summary: I am going to write a review of this phone based on my experience of using it over the last 2 weeks and my needs, for which I bought it.
Update (20Dec2012):
Since I have to travel a lot for work, my main requirements are
+ access to email and calendar over Exchange
+ good navigation
+ some apps
This phone easily does takes care of that with amazing integration with Exchange, on-board MS Office and Nokia Drive.
Coming from Google navigation on an Android phone, I was a bit apprehensive about the navigation part. But the downloadable maps, turn-by-turn navigation are comparable, if not better than Google Maps.
Apart from this, the OS is really smooth and fast. Integration with Outlook and SkyDrive is really nice.
The ecosystem/OS is pretty easy to use and also supports easy exchange of data/files between different devices without having to go through extra steps. For example between my Lumia 920 phone, Surface RT table, Windows 7 laptop, SD card, external hard drive, etc. You can actually be productive on the phone and not just play games or calculate tips.
Having used both Android and iOS, this is a refreshing change where
a. workflows are not imposed on you and
b. the interface and the resulting experience is consistent across devices.
As far as apps go, I am happy to say that it has pretty much most of the apps/extra features I need:
+ Video calls over Skype
+ Document editing/sharing via Office and SkyDrive
+ Notes on OneNote
+ Entertainment via IE10, Netflix, a few games
+ Nokia Music - really nice
+ Wireless charging
+ Decent camera - I am saying decent, since I usually carry a DSLR or a point and shoot with me most of the time for any photography/videography needs
+ Good facebook integration
For the rest of the features that I need, I am pretty sure that there would be web versions that I could just use via the phone's browser.
To conclude, this is a great phone which does much more than what I need, and, in my opinion, much more than what most people need from a smartphone on a daily basis. After that, there is no end to the amount of individual needs that a person may have.

There is one shortcoming that I forgot about - bluetooth. I have had issues establishing a steady connection with my laptop (Win7 Thinkpad). It has not gone away even after the update released by Nokia yesterday.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Heavy? OK. Slippery? Maybe a bit. Spectacular? Yes.
by pjjjjjjjjjj on November 20, 2012
Pros: * Easiest to use phone OS gets even better and more effective
* Wireless charging
* Great camera
* Good battery life
* New, more customizable Live Tiles are fantastic
* Beautiful, big screen
* No longer requires ZuneCons: A bit heavy and thick (but other phones with a hard case would be almost identical and 920 doesn't need a sep. case). Some niche apps may be truly missing, but these are the exception. Not as customizable as other platforms.
Summary: Tons of apps available. There are some niche apps that are truly missing and may be a dealbreaker for some, but for most people "only" ten flashlight apps (instead of ...
Summary: Tons of apps available. There are some niche apps that are truly missing and may be a dealbreaker for some, but for most people "only" ten flashlight apps (instead of hundreds in the Apple Store) is plenty. The store (http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store) makes it easy to see if specific apps you care about are available. Going forward, as Windows 8 on PC's and tablet devices takes off, the phone apps will start to expand exponentially (the new development platform is nearly identical between desktop, tablet and phone so "porting" the app to the phone is trivial compared to what it would have been in the past).
Low-light capabilities of this phone's camera are amazing. Bluriness can still be an issue (it's not magic), but I've taken pics in a dark room with and without the flash and people honestly had to really investigate the two pics closely to tell the diff. The "lack of settings" mentioned in the review may show a lack of knowledge - the "lens applications" that are provided (as a separate download) resolve this and more.
There are some things that you may want to tweak but can't. For ex, you can customize sounds for ringtones and alarms, but can't (yet?) provide custom sounds for things like new messages, emails, etc. My teenage daughters probably care a lot more about that than the average person, but it may annoy some. Also, some aspects of the UI are not as customizable as on other platforms; however, this is often with good reason. There are certain things imposed design-wise by the phone's OS that ensure that the overall experience is consistent.
In 7.x versions of Windows Phone, the ONLY way to interact with your phone on your PC was via the Zune software. I actually didn't mind Zune at all - I thought it was generally pretty good "for that kind of thing." However, what I always wanted was a way to just copy content to and from the phone right from Windows Explorer. With v 8, you can still use Zune or a nice new app for this, but you can now copy stuff directly within your PC's OS. Simply drag and drop MP3's, pics, videos, etc. to and from your phone's storage folders. Best part - when you do this it will automatically ask if you want to re-encode the content on the fly (this is great if you've got a bunch of "lossless" type of content that you want to get on the phone without blowing out all of your storage).
Speaking of storage, the storage on the 920 is NOT expandable (as it is on the Lumia 820), but you do get 32 GB.
I was an early convert to Win Phone, but I had spent about 4 years on iPhone and Android before that. I'm not a fanboy or zealot for any platform. Overall the usability and effectiveness of the Win Phone OS wins hands-down. The integration between apps on 7.5 was already great but only gets significantly better w/ 8, meaning that getting stuff done is almost always faster and easier on Win Phone than others.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Fast, reliable and good pictures
by MarkW510 on November 20, 2012
Pros: So far I love everything that this phone has. The favourite is the camera. No need to carry my real camera with me any more.
Cons: More apps would be nice, but as I have read this should not be a problem in the future.
Summary: If you need a new phone, buy this one!

Hold this phone in your hand, and feel the magic.
by Mingu7 on November 16, 2012

3. Amazing camera with OIS and lens apps!
4. Exclusive Nokia apps
5. Wireless charging.
6. Very stylish look.
7. Good battery life.

9. All this for an amazing price.Cons: 1. Buttons on the side take a little getting used to.
Summary: This phone is phenomenal.
I've had it for almost a week now. I am hooked on Nokia Music, and the other Nokia apps like Nokia City Lens and Nokia ...Summary: This phone is phenomenal.
I finally saw the glossy yellow 920 in person today! A guy sitting in the next table over at a resturaunt had one. The smiling top/bottom was a dead giveaway.
I've had it for almost a week now. I am hooked on Nokia Music, and the other Nokia apps like Nokia City Lens and Nokia Drive are incredible. You can download entire regions so that your maps are local to the device, letting you zoom around or get turn-by-turn directions without using your data plan. Massachusetts and New Hampshire USA were both around 85MB, so you could fit quite a lot of maps, and they get updated too!
I can't say enough good things about this phone. The camera is idiot proof in auto mode. It always seems to take a great shot. The lens apps are a stroke of genius. They let you do all sorts of fun stuff look kookie effects, make animated GIFs, or nice wide panoramas.
Another great surprise was just how fast browsing the web is on this phone. I switched IE10 to do desktop mode. So websites came in as their full desktop PC flavor. 2 seconds or less was the typical load time. And the browser itself is butter smooth with pinching to zoom and moving around. Clicking on a video brings it up in full-screen mode. Microsoft hit this one out of the park!
This is a very well built phone. I already dropped it once, from hip-height, and the only damage was a minor ding in one of the corners... you can't even notice it unless you know to look for it. The phone kept working like nothing happened. There are lots of videos online. Nokia Lumia phones are super-durable. The saying goes: Drop Nokia on ground, the GROUND breaks.
Battery life is easily a full day of moderate to heavy use. One day it did come in a bit low, but I was trying out various Flash-light apps, which probably drained the battery a bit more from using the camera flash for extended periods of time. So far I typically have over 40% battery when I rest this baby on the wireless charging pad on my nightstand when I go to bed.
Speaking of wireless charging. It rules! It is SUPER convenient to not have to fuss with cables when you just wanna go to bed after a long day. Just set it down, hear a nice little bleep, and your done. And the micro-USB slot is still there if you want to use the traditional charging cable at the office as a backup. Nokia has done a bang-up job offering some cool accessories. The pads are nice and simple, the FatBoy pillows are cute, and the JBL docking/charging boombox speakers look great too.
Oh, and the fabulous screen. My previous phone had a slide-out keyboard. But I have had zero issues typing on the 920's on-screen keyboard. Windows Phone always had a great onscreen keyboard, and with the large screen, I hit the keys with effortless accuracy. My hands are probably average for a man. My wife has the Lumia 900, and she zooms right along with her smaller hands. So on the size debate. It's a non-issue. The placement of the buttons along the right spine does take a little getting used to. But you soon realize that a phone with a screen of this size, the right spine is actually the best ergonomic place for the buttons, since you don't have to shift your grip to press them. Bottom Line: If you like a larger screen, the 920 will feel great in your hand.
Windows Phone 8 is a joy to use. The live tiles are great, and tweaking your home screen is easy and satisfying. You can pin just about anything, people, apps, websites... and when appropriate, the tiles will update when interesting stuff is going on. Being able to size your tiles between small, medium, and double-wide is a great addition as well!
Automatic backup to SkyDrive of your pics, txts, and app settings is a God-Send. Oh, and you get MS Office Suite on top of all that! And if you are looking around at some of the new Windows 8 tablets, touch laptops, hybrids, or all-in-ones, your experience with those devices and your phone are synced, letting your switch between devices and feel like you always have all your stuff right in front of you.
When you look at the specs on the Nokia Lumia 920, they are a mile-high and full of high-end components and a ton of innovation. The 920 is a masterpiece of engineering. NFC, Wireless Charging, BlueTooth, Wifi with hotspot ability, 4G LTE, beyond "retina-class" display, super-sensitive touch that works with your fingernails, or through ANY gloves, and auto-adjusts to just work great... auto-adjust screen brightness and true-black polarizing display that looks bright even in sunlight, optical image stabilization in the camera for unsurpassed low-light performance and incredibly smooth video that bests even some digital cameras. The list goes on and on. The 920 is stuffed to the brim with industry firsts.
And to close the deal, all of this amazing innovation comes in at a steal. 32GB of storage for a fraction of competing products. On or off-contract prices are incredibly competitive. AT&T in the USA is only charging 99 dollars on-contract, and they throw in a free wireless charging plate!
There are some great phones out there. But right now nothing comes close to the true innovation of the Nokia Lumia 920.
Bravo Nokia!!!
