Nokia N8 - dark gray (unlocked) price range: $274.00

The good: The Nokia N8 and Symbian 3 offer a better and more enhanced user experience than previous devices. The N8 delivers excellent camera and video quality. The smartphone has solid hardware and offers 3G support for both T-Mobile and AT&T. You get free turn-by-turn navigation via Ovi Maps.
The bad: It's expensive. User interface is much improved, but still trails the competition in ease of use. The N8 can be sluggish. You only get a QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode, and there's no user-replaceable battery.
The bottom line: The Nokia N8 excels as a camera phone, and the improvements of Symbian 3 make it one of the company's best smartphones to date. However, it still has its shortcomings and an expensive price tag, making it a hard sell for the North American market.

Died after less than a week
by gtdotcom on October 20, 2010
Pros: N8 didn't work long enough to have a view here
Cons: My N8 died after less than a week. Nokia customer service informed me that an exchange under the warranty would take 30 days--can you believe that--30 days. They can have it back.
Summary: Nokia's 30 day policy for turnaround on exchanges is ridiculous, especially given what the N8 cost. I'll just keep my N900 for now. I

OK. I ordered a replacement N8 from Amazon (which was cheaper because there was no tax). The replacement works great. The camera is fantastic and phone has not randomly rebooted in more than a week--much better than the first N8 that rebooted at random. The N8 has the familiar feel of my N95, with a touch screen (albeit no Slingbox-I've not figured out a work-around and there might not be one).
Updated on Nov 10, 2010
All said, the N900 will still be my primary device. The N8 is a phone (with a great camera). The N900 is completely personal device. My N900 is me.3 out of 7 users found this user opinion helpful.

Is it a Camera? Is it a Phone? It's Nokia N8!!
by VonAce on March 3, 2012
Pros: 1- Easy to use with a great interface after Belle Update
2- It can replace a digital camera with it's 12mp
3- Fm Transmitter + HDMI = portable fun
4- Social links Facbook contacts with phone contacts
5- Loads of compatible useful/fun apps and gamesCons: 1- No replacable battery
2- The extra smooth material used in making N8 makes it slippery
3- Games are slower when using HDMI
4- Fm transmitter isn't useful in countries where there are radio stations on almost every frequency like LebanonSummary: The N8 plus Symbian Belle is the perfect phone for the busy guy/girl. it has an app for anything with 6 homescreens to fit them all. And HDMI and ...
Summary: The N8 plus Symbian Belle is the perfect phone for the busy guy/girl. it has an app for anything with 6 homescreens to fit them all. And HDMI and Fm transmitter make it the perfect entertainment system. And, with a 12 mp camera on top of all that, there is nothing you can't do with the N8. Just be careful to keep your grip tight or the phone might slip.

Summary: I have been using the N8 for over than a year and I'm still satisfied with it.It has many features such as an amazing camera, usb on-the-go,HDMI,free GPS with navigation,TV-out via HDMI,a great multitasking phone and with many more good features.
The hardware on the phone is good for it but does not conmpete with other phones.680MHz and 256 Mb RAM and the GPU to handle the graphics, compared to 1.2GHz and 1 Gb RAM.But the hardware on the N8 is great for it and the phone operates well.
The best feature in Nokia's N8 is its 12MP camera. The photos are amazing and the quality of the photos is great, and it shoots video with 720p at 25 FPS(30 FPS with the camera update).
I only found one thing annoying with this phone which is its auto resetting. The phone restarts for no reason. That is the only bad thing i found in this phone.
The Nokia N8 is a good phone,with a lot of features! -
I love this phone! It's my 4th or 5th Nokia in 14+ yrs!
by Cynthia_Salmons-Lang on December 27, 2011
Pros: I bought Nokia because I've always had better service with Nokia everywhere I went. I travel from Fl to Mi and lots in between, and always have great signal.
Cons: Some say that the price is steep, but this phone is rugid, and very well built. When I considered that the GPS was free (save $10 a mo at least on phone bill) and great camers.. not really so bad.

Summary: I bought this one because of the great phone with tons of built in memory plus a memory card if you want it. Pictures are very good, love the video! I have 3 granddaughters, 1 brand new, and I always have a camera for those special moments. This is an unlocked phone as I like option to change companies if I want. And the GPS is free.. no need to pay extra every month. I use the wi-fi option most of the time if I need to go online. So much Wi-Fi these days, you don't have to use a hugh data plan if you don't want. This is a great phone for a business person that uses their phone for work. And OVI might not have alot of apps, but it's easy to get apps anywhere, so that's not a real issue. If you like to change phones to keep up the latest style all the time... it does cost to much. But if you're like me and appreciate quality and reliabilty then this is a great phone for you! I am currently using ATT with this phone, and always have signal. I nearly alway have a signal when my friends do not. There is so much on this phone, (I'm not talking games or the like... I do games at home) that I've not even come close to learning it all yet!
This is a quality built phone, you'll know it the minute you pick it up. It's solid and just the right size. So many ways to personalize your screens. You buy this phone, you will be very happy! Cynthia CEO at Mobile Media Enterprises.com -

6. Easy file administrationCons: Compared with iOS is just the poor quality of somes apps and there are no match good 3rd apps. But this is going better every month.

Incredible camera and multimedia phone ever
by Raiyansp on August 22, 2011
Pros: Colossal Picture quality, HD incredible video quality, Symbian OS has many new features and improvements, GPS is faster and better, FM transmitter, better design, good lookin' etc
Cons: Symbian lacks user-friendliness compared to iPhone or Android though it is improved, Not a lot of apps, sluggish unless used with cover.
Summary: This phone is #1 in the field of camera phones and will hold that for a long time. It's camera quality is truly incredible, along with HD video recording ...
Summary: This phone is #1 in the field of camera phones and will hold that for a long time. It's camera quality is truly incredible, along with HD video recording makes it a portable entertainment device. It's multimedia features are also great and fun to use, especially the music player with a cover flow interface. Sound quality is better than the microphone's recording ability. Though symbian needs to be more user friendly compared to Android or iOS, it still remains a person's best choice in cameraphones. In my view, I'm glad I purchased this.
Another CON. Speaker position in the front is not a good choice. If its on a soft surface such as a bed with a speaker faced down, its sound would barely be heard. I miss some calls and alarms for this.

Everything I look for in a phone.
by elicgt on July 16, 2011
Pros: Camera is a true rival for compact P&S cams.
Nice and solid build quality.
Beautiful screen to touch and look at.
Excellent call quality.
Good battery life for a smartphone.Cons: As stated at the editor's review -
No user replacable battery,
No QWERTY in vertical mode(should be fixed with symbian anna),
Apps library falls short of android and ios.
No user EQ presets :(Summary: This is not the device for those who look for a small pc in their pocket, but a great multimedia phone.
