Nokia N97 - black (unlocked) price range: $169.99

The good: The Nokia N97 features a touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, and 32GB of internal flash memory. The smartphone also offers 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS and comes equipped with a 5-megapixel camera.
The bad: The N97's touch user interface isn't well integrated and can be inconsistent and confusing, especially compared with the competition. We would have preferred a capacitive touch screen instead of resistive.
The bottom line: While the Nokia N97 is packed with features and offers the freedom of an unlocked phone, its clunky touch interface, sky-high price tag, and outdated operating system make it hard to recommend when there are better touch-screen smartphones on the market.

by nimmadkr on September 25, 2009
Pros: Lots of Space for movies & music
Good Camera
Love the KeyboardCons: Horrible Software, Switches off automatically every few hours, Its very Slow and takes ages to open my picture gallery, I upgraded it to the latest firmware but still the same.Whenever i connect it to my pc thru usb the phone needs to be restarted.

N97 is the best and has the most stable software
by nomadicman04122 on September 11, 2009
Pros: It is fully functional and easy to use. If you're used to convention this outclasses the Blackberry, X1 and all the Windows MObile OS devices around. Its a brilliant leap from the N90 to the E97 the best since Nokia introduced the E90
Cons: It could have had a bit more size and a better constructed "eye" for attaching a strap.
Summary: I just acquired the N97 3 weeks now. I am also the owner of a E90 which is the grand daddy of Communicators. My experience with the E90 is its ...
Summary: I just acquired the N97 3 weeks now. I am also the owner of a E90 which is the grand daddy of Communicators. My experience with the E90 is its a powerful tool. The N97 brings all the functionality of the E90. I enjoy having both these phones, mainly because in today's world of communications, many people have lost the sense of communicating and taking short cuts and many more.
Hence when it comes to functionality, both Noikia's running the Symbian is the most stable and least of all the smartphones that run on Windows Mobile etc.. that have functions that are not needed and superflous. The youth of today do not know how to drive a business and realise that having a gadget is one thing, making money by using this tool is another.
The N97 connected very easily with the Nokia OTC feature in their PC Suite. I was able to get good connections and stable without any dropouts even though I used different providers in dfferent parts of the world. Both machinces got my laptops fired up with high speed internet connections without dropouts.
I own about 25 different phones most of them are the top models in the brand.. and none including the iPhone 3Gs and my personal experience is that the Nokia N97 and E90 have become my workhorses when connected to my IBM Thinkpads. (plus other machines too).
In a nutshell my personal experience is that this phone has the not too many frills type but has the performance that can surpass the Blackberry. Comparing my new Blacberry with the N97 and E90 the Blackberry is no match. It seems a hype these days for everyone to have Blackberry. For someone who spends close to 20k for phones in a year, I want the best and up to date..... my experience with this is the N97 and E90 stand out consistently. -
Awesome instrument - worth paying
by Sid_Oza on September 7, 2009
Pros: Interactive and fully customisable interface, QWERT Keyboard and other input options, wi-fi, bigger HDD plus an option to expand, multiprocessing, screen resolution, Camera quality, good speakers and above all FREEDOM unlike iPhone
Cons: some people may find it chunky then other phones but not a bigger deal - still fits in pants well, touch screen can be improved

Summary: I believe its operating system - Symbian is the best selling point. It has been out for years so, you can find lots of free applications for this phone. This is a sturdy device as well which I believe something any one expect from their expensive stuff. Once you install the firmware update you can notice the improvement in performance straight away.
Over all, I believe it's worth paying for this device and I am very pleased with my choice. -
Too expensive comparing to what can it offer
by Sierzant on August 23, 2009
Pros: Nice design, good camera
Cons: Too expensive, gets faulty (restarting itself, problems with texts and memory) - get any other mobile and you will have almost this same features what n97. Not worth to buy at all.

The OS is poor in speed and user interfaceSummary: Do not recommend if your a road warrior. Its a shame because I love Nokia.....If just the OS was more like the competition!

by tylerjbrock on July 25, 2009
Pros: There are none
Cons: Ancient OS and sky high pricing
Summary: The operating system is so out dated it hurts and the price of this phone is so astronomical for its feature set that it makes me laugh.
