Palm Pre Plus (Verizon Wireless) price range: $71.76

The good: The Palm Pre Plus offers double the storage capacity and double the RAM of the Palm Pre. The smartphone also ships with an inductive back cover for Touchstone charging and features an improved QWERTY keyboard.
The bad: Speakerphone volume is too soft. We'd like to see a landscape keyboard and camera editing options. No support for V Cast Music or Video. The phone can run a bit hot.
The bottom line: The Palm Pre Plus earns its place as the top WebOS device, improving on the Pre with a better design and performance, and upgraded features. Verizon customers looking for a versatile smartphone to balance their personal and work lives will be well-served by the Pre Plus.

SLOW to respond, delayed feedback, buggy when loaded up
by Everready908 on February 11, 2010
Pros: Great features, love the multi-tasking and finger slide navigation. Uploaded my contacts/calendar to Google and it saves them. Cool interface like Apple iPhone. Was able to download my contacts/calendar (DIDNT HAVE THAT MANY!) Downloadable updates!
Cons: After downloading contacts/past calendar it SLOWS down like my Palm Treo. Degredation examples: Phone rings, you press green answer button & you get 8 secs of clouds screen while the phone keeps ringing & you miss call! ALSO POOR MICROPHONE QUALI
Summary: Great phone, but 1st release has bugs which will slow down responsiveness and frustrate you. Had to return my first one to Verizon because the sound quality on the microphone ...
Summary: Great phone, but 1st release has bugs which will slow down responsiveness and frustrate you. Had to return my first one to Verizon because the sound quality on the microphone was so BAD. 2nd one had similar problems - PROBLEM: If you hold phone wrong wayu near your mouth, it gets very static-y for your caller.
I love this phone, but can't wait for the next revision of software, to correct this stuff. Don't hesitate to return it if you find these problems so that Palm gets the message. However, my guess is that they'll have to change the microphone hardware to fix the bad voice sounds.
As for the degredation with movement, I would guess you won't find this if you're firing it up fresh, but give it a year and you'll slow down like the Treo disaster. Guess you'll have to archive. NOW - if I could find out how much memory my database is taking, it would be GREAT. But, no such utility! Come on Palm - Fix these issues already!1 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

I hate this phone so badly. Worst phone ever!
by mlivingston28092 on January 23, 2011
Pros: The only thing I can say good is that it was cheap. It is true you get what you pay for.
Cons: I have had this phone for 8 months and it stinks. The phone freezes up, turns off and will not come back on.Putting music is near impossible with my limited computer skills. It is not easy to work with. Phone calls missed because it lags.
Summary: Do not buy this phone, I am going to try to get my old blackberry pearl to work again. I have had to take this phone to Verizon store because ...
Summary: Do not buy this phone, I am going to try to get my old blackberry pearl to work again. I have had to take this phone to Verizon store because it turns off and will not come back on, ofcourse they can get it to reboot after I have driven 30 minutes one way.

Screen blanks out during phone use, won't come back on.
by plindsey3 on June 23, 2010
Pros: Perfect for pockets, speaker is clear when resting on desktop magnetic charger; WiFi connection is strong; web apps are easy to use in WiFi mode. It can be used a a hotspot for other peripherals. It has decent signal strength, voices are clear.
Cons: The power saving feature in phone mode is faulty: My phone's motion-controlled screen goes blank as soon as I answer or start a call and won't come back on until I place it on the charger or toggle the off switch three times. FAIL!
Summary: A phone should be just that, a PHONE first, and all other amenities second. The motion-control feature worked fine the first three weeks I had the phone; I would simply ...
Summary: A phone should be just that, a PHONE first, and all other amenities second. The motion-control feature worked fine the first three weeks I had the phone; I would simply turn my wrist and the screen would come back on. I personally thought that was a great power-saving feature. Now the screen goes blank whenever I start or answer a call; when the call ends I have to do the toggle switch trick or pull the battery to restart the PP+ device, or, if I'm in the office I have to place it on the magnetic charger so the screen can come back on and I can stop the minutes from adding up. Before this happened I was able to use the phone and at least one other application simultaneously - no more, since I can no longer see anything when the screen blanks out. It was on sale, I thought it was a good idea (still do) but Palm still needs to shake the bugs out of this model. Caveat: If I was someone who focused more on social networks, camera featurs and texting I'd give this phone a 4.5 star rating, easily. But it's main use for ME is as a phone and it's a FAIL. I don't recommend this device.

Phone bad, verizon wireless service even worse.
by nkm9 on June 21, 2010
Pros: Syncs quickly with google calendar. Internet is fast, email is fast.
Cons: Cust. svc from verizon is awful, they know nothing about this phone. It already broke once, have had it for two months. The battery runs out almost every night. The speaker is so low I can't make calls outside. Texting works sporadically.
Summary: The worst thing about this phone is the verizon wireless customer service, they have NO idea how to use this phone, they couldn?t tell me how to use the ...
Summary: The worst thing about this phone is the verizon wireless customer service, they have NO idea how to use this phone, they couldn?t tell me how to use the keypad, they have suggested products that don?t exist for it twice, it is like they wanted to carry palm phones but didn?t want to take the time to learn anything about them.
By far, the most aggravating exchange was when I called customer service because the power button got stuck in the down position. I told this to the technician maybe 20 times, conservatively, and still he had me remove the battery, when I protested he said to trust him b/c he?s a technician. So I took the battery out, then he asked me to ?power it up?. I laughed thinking he was kidding, but he wasn?t! I reminded him ?The reason I?m calling is b/c the power button is stuck, this is why I said I shouldn?t take the battery out?? He apologized profusely and had a replacement phone fedexed to me. Okay, fine. Then the replacement phone had a different back cover than mine, but they claimed it was the same phone, even though it looked very different. I?ve only had the phone for two months, but after 30 days I?m locked into a contract with them for two years and they will not let me change to a different phone.
Durability: Clearly, it is not durable, it already had to be replaced once, and I?ve had it for only two months, and I?ve never had to have a cellphone replaced before.
EXTREMELY low speaker volume: The other exceedingly annoying quality of the Palm pre plus is it has extremely low speaker volume, the speaker volume is so low that I?ve had to stop making calls outside on the street b/c I can?t hear, I usually have to put all calls on speaker phone and hold the speaker to my ear. I thought the point of having a cell phone was to be able to make calls when you?re away from your home phone, but that is not really an option for me unless I am in a really quiet environment and I live in nyc so that is not typical.
Battery: Battery runs out really fast, I only make a couple of calls per day and send a few texts and every night, no matter how little I?ve used it, I get warned that the battery is at 20% or about to die.
Camera: Camera is high quality for a phone, but the files are so big it is often hard to send the pictures you?ve taken which defeats the purpose.
Texting/SMS: Texting often doesn?t work, sending photos or video taken with the phone almost never works or requires retrying dozens of times (see above).
Contacts: contacts don?t sync from your old phone the way other Verizon Wireless phones do, so make sure to have all outlook or google contacts updated.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Drops bluetooth pairing
by carkituser on June 16, 2010
Pros: touchstone charging cool, apps enough for my needs, touch screen with multiple windows nice.
Cons: biggest issue is with bluetooth loosing pairing with by car. now that I've tried to resolve problem I see that its a huge issue with a lot of car kits. The list of compatible devices is VERY limited.
Summary: If bluetooth is high on your list of needs - I would NOT choose this phone. Some of the blogs say even if a device or car is listed Palm ...

Summary: Palm Pre is pretty cool, just a tad expensive for me. I was wondering if it is available on a prepaid plan? A friend of mine uses Net10 and it is saving him tons and he gets coast to coast coverage too, nationwide. I want low prices in this tough economy and it seems like Net10 would be the ideal deal! Feedback please!!!

Excellent practical technology where apps are easy...
by jjgnc on April 10, 2010
Pros: This device has so many abilities. You can control it simply with gestures that you learn better over the course of a day. Once you understand how it operates, it's a dream to behold. The Hotspot feature is a life-saver at work and on long trips.
Cons: This is flawless except for one little thing. The hatch for the mini usb charging port is really flimsy. It should be heavy duty. I have to be careful with it, lest I break it. Other than this, I have no problems with it.
Summary: Someone at their development team needs to push HARD on apps and third party apps. There are some good ones, but need a choice in thousands. Hop on it!
