Palm Pre Plus (Verizon Wireless) price range: $147.05

The good: The Palm Pre Plus offers double the storage capacity and double the RAM of the Palm Pre. The smartphone also ships with an inductive back cover for Touchstone charging and features an improved QWERTY keyboard.
The bad: Speakerphone volume is too soft. We'd like to see a landscape keyboard and camera editing options. No support for V Cast Music or Video. The phone can run a bit hot.
The bottom line: The Palm Pre Plus earns its place as the top WebOS device, improving on the Pre with a better design and performance, and upgraded features. Verizon customers looking for a versatile smartphone to balance their personal and work lives will be well-served by the Pre Plus.

Palm Pre is a GREAT phone, especially for the money.
by seedscsb on April 25, 2010
Pros: Multiple apps at once. Small size. Great reception on Verizon. Hotspot ROCKS. Texts are organized well: per contact. Sound is LOUD. Easy to use...very intuitive. Low cost always helps. AND of course it is on the best network ever...VERIZON.
Cons: App store needs some help. It is hard to search and find particular things. Battery life needs to be better, but I know it is a problem of most smart phones. I wish it was a little less plastic, and a little more metal.
Summary: I use my phone all the time. I am on the phone non-stop. I text. I call. I e-mail. And I am on the net on the phone and with ...
Summary: I use my phone all the time. I am on the phone non-stop. I text. I call. I e-mail. And I am on the net on the phone and with the HotSpot. I love this phone. I was a blackberry user for a long time and was very disappointed in the usability as a smart phone. This has been a great change. I researched it a lot, and had some people really discourage me, but I am really glad I chose the Palm Pre on Verizon. As a small business owner that does not sit at a desk all day, it is critical that I have a great phone, and a phone that is affordable. The Palm Pre is a GREAT small business phone. The marketing of this phone is a little off. It is advertised fairly strongly to women, and should be directed at small business owners. I was a Palm fan way back, and I am glad to see that they have done it again.

Summary: The iphone was my first smart phone, and I've had one since the first phone came out. However, AT&T has no coverage at my new home. I dreaded switching to Verizon. Didn't like any of the android phones I had played with, and on a whim I ordered the Palm Pre Plus. From the moment it arrived, I've been pleasantly surprised, from the care in packaging to the ease of use. It does all of the things that my iphone did, only (gasp) it does some of them better! I love it and have been recommending it to everyone!

Excellent device, not without it's problems.
by loganteal on April 8, 2010
Pros: WebOS is great. Everything is intuitive, simple, and actually graceful, in a way. I've got no second thoughts at all. The keyboard is pretty forgiving, and I've big thumbs. Can't beat the 2 for $50 deal on Verizon.
Cons: The battery life on this phone is, in a word, horrible. I can hardly get through a workday without needing to charge it, or being concerned that I might need to. Keep your charger handy! Also, the charger access is chintzy and inconvenient.
Summary: I bought the phone on April 1st from Verizon- 2 for $49. Great service, but, being in CA, I had to pay taxes based on full retail value for the ...
Summary: I bought the phone on April 1st from Verizon- 2 for $49. Great service, but, being in CA, I had to pay taxes based on full retail value for the 2 phones- over $100 total in taxes, twice what I spent on the discounted phones. Not a Verizon/Palm problem, but be warned if you are in Cali.
Setup is a breeze, and learning to use WebOS as a former Blackberry user was no problem- everything is intuitive and easy. I have had an Ipod Touch for over a year now, and the Palm Pre seems much better to use, IMHO. Not nearly as many apps, but really, how many do you need? I'm not much of a phone-gamer. Just a few highly functional apps are fine by me, and Palm has more than enough to suit me.
Phone call quality is much better than I'm used to with AT&T/Blackberry. Loud and crystal clear, for the most part. I've dropped a couple calls, but I work in the mountains, so...
The only negative thing I can say is about the battery life. Abysmal. I did some digging, and it might be constantly trying to update my email despite my settings to the contrary. I hope they fix this issue, because in a few hours of light use, I'm at half capacity. Less, if I'm searching. I shudder to think about what it would be like if I hooked up to my Wifi or bluetooth. My Curve could go days with light use before it needed charging, even at 3 years old.
In all, I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone looking for a fun to use, versatile little alternate to droid or the Iphone. Just keep that charger handy!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best Smartphone

Summary: The Palm Pre Plus is the best smartphone available. I've had mine for two months. I did a lot of research and nothing compares. The 3D games are awesome, but the best feature is the multitasking. I usually have 20 programs open at once and can pause multiple games with no speed impact. My only complaint is the battery life, which was fixed by purchasing a larger battery online.

Fantastic device with very polished operating system
by Bucephulus on March 31, 2010
Pros: The WebOS operating system is fantastic. It is surprisingly intuitive and easy to use. The Synergy feature for calendar and contacts works great. Multitasking is awesome. The camera takes great pictures. The phone itself is beautifully designed.
Cons: The battery life is not great (although I have no problem getting through a full day of moderate use). The keyboard is a little small, but is easier once you get used to it. The selection of apps is a little limited.
Summary: I was worried about buying the Palm Pre Plus given Palm's financial problems and the upcoming smartphones for Verizon. That has completely changed. I am thrilled with my Palm ...
Summary: I was worried about buying the Palm Pre Plus given Palm's financial problems and the upcoming smartphones for Verizon. That has completely changed. I am thrilled with my Palm Pre. The phone has all of the features I could ever want and Palm has done an incredible job with WebOS. The usability of the operating system is dead even with Apple's iphone OS, but it is not limited by Apple's ridiculous lack of multitasking. The hardware is really well designed. The phone is beautiful and fits perfectly in my hand. The screen is very vibrant and readable (even in direct sunlight).
As consumers, we get screwed constantly by the mobile phone industry. Exclusive contracts, delayed software updates, promises of better phones constantly on the horizon. My overriding feeling, after purchasing the Palm Pre, is relief. I feel relieved that I have a phone that finally meets all my needs. I feel relieved that it was built by and is supported by a company with a long track record of customer satisfaction in the mobile industry. Even if Palm is a sinking ship (and I doubt that it is), that feeling of relief makes me happy I jumped on board.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

by Bubbs59 on March 11, 2010
Pros: Beautiful Screen, Nice Operating System, Runs Smoothly, Fits Nicely in your hand, Handy Mirror on Back, Internet Browser is nice, Nice Way of being Alerted of Messages.
Cons: Battery Life is Low, Keyboard is a Bit Small, The Phone can get a little warm, Can be a little sluggish, but not often, App Catalog is still a little small.
Summary: I love this phone. I barely need my computer anymore. This phone does texting, email, music, videos, Facebook, and apps so well. It runs very smoothly and comfortably. It feels ...

Great Phone - Diamond in the ruff.
by jellis141414 on March 8, 2010
Pros: WebOs - Synergy, Camera Speed, WIFI Hotspot, Size, Look, and most of all performance. This phone will be the main competition to the iphone.
Cons: Need more applications, Real applications that is. More interest with the Community.. and More tweaks - Music Tweak, Camera Auto Focus, and gets a little warm.

Summary: I have had the DROID, Blackberry STORM I and II, Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Curve, and Iphone... This is the best phone I have had, besides the Iphone, but I REFUSE to go to ATT... I cant tell you how many calls i missed with that CRAPPY network. Verizon is the best, and now they have a phone that reminds me of iphone, in the way that it works, runs, and computes. The speed of the broswer, the color, the look, and the way that interacts with my work and personal life is like no other. Give this phone/operating system a full year, and it will be blowing away DROID, and any other phone out there.... Unless the iphone gets to Verizon, that its only real competition, but with out a real network, people will only keep their Iphone (really only a ipod touch, since the phone never works.. :) Go GET A PRE PLUS!!!!

Great Smartphone with lots of hmmph. Bye Bye Blackberry
by lizdec26 on March 6, 2010
Pros: Great Size.
Easy to use menu and easy to load applications.
Love the notification system for new messages.
Great graphics and camera is more than I expected.
Great integration of Facebook
Fantastic Web Browser and multi-tasking abilityCons: Keyboard was a tough one to acclimate to initially.
Wish keyboard was lit to make it more visible.
Would love a few more pre-loaded applications
Battery life not great but re-charges very quickly.
Tinny sounding while in Speaker mode.Summary: As a previous HUGE fan of the Blackberry, I was surprised at how intrigued I was with this newly released version of the Palm--enough to forgo any consideration of sticking ...
Summary: As a previous HUGE fan of the Blackberry, I was surprised at how intrigued I was with this newly released version of the Palm--enough to forgo any consideration of sticking with the Blackberry!
It was very tough to get used to this keyboard, but after a week or so getting used to it, I was completely entranced by enough of the great features of this phone that I can live with the keyboard.
The Application selections are fantastic and am hoping that as updates are released, even more app choices are made available.
When you make a change, it's like anything else.....you need to learn and get used to something new.
I went to the Verizon store after 2 weeks with this phone to see if I had chosen the best "new" phone for me. After looking again at the other phones that are offered in the Smartphone category, this was the BEST decision that I could have made.
I would say that if I continue to love this phone as much a year and half from now as I do now, I would consider another Palm phone. However, if the keyboard gets a little better, the display screen gets just a little bigger, the keyboard comes backlit, all while staying as great as it is now, there is no doubt I would stay with the Palm phone product.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best All-Around Smartphone
by EKneivl on March 2, 2010
Pros: Great support for Exchange mail. Wonderful multitasking, physical keyboard, and operating system UI makes it superior to iPhone. Incredibly fast browser and Verizon data network. Faster, better coverage, and less expensive than AT&T.
Cons: WebOS 1.4 is an improvement but could be even faster. I have to press the keys harder than I think I should have to: I can press and get the keys to "click" without the letters being sent to the screen. Annoying for texting.
Summary: By far the best choice compared to iPhone, Blackberry, and Android platforms.
