The good: The Samsung Admire has a simple, straightforward design with enough features to keep you busy and entertained. We appreciate the support for the Gingerbread OS and the access to MetroPCS' new Rhapsody Unlimited Music service.
The bad: The Samsung Admire had variable call quality with low volume and occasional audio cutouts. We had problems with the speakerphone in particular.
The bottom line: The Samsung Admire offers the accessible design and functional feature set that you'd expect from a starter Android phone, but call quality wasn't up to our standards.

Summary: Just got this phone, and this is my first Android touch screen phone but I have to say I am loving it!! So far it has been easy for me to use, everything works great on it, the call quality was very good in my area and sounds much clearer than my prior phone. The touch screen is very good and responsive, easy to make a call, and user friendly. There is so much you can do with this phone and my 12 year old son is already bugging me because he wants one! lol I I recommend this phone to anyone who may be intersted in it!!!

Great Android Phone
by oldkookskater on September 6, 2011
Pros: Easy to use.
Swype text entry is easy to use.
Free GPS navigation is incredibly accurate and faster than my old Tom-Tom device.Cons: Some of the "widgets" from the Android market are billed as being very useful and actually interfere with the phone - steer clear of anything that says it will save your battery life.

Summary: Great phone. My wife and I bought these as alternatives to the iPhone 4. We were with AT&T for seven years and while the company "appreciated" our loyalty, they refused to allow us to upgrade our old GSM handsets to the iPhone 4 when they came out, citing the early upgrade option for existing iPhone owners only - no exceptions. After this, we waited the few months we had remaining on our contracts and went with Metro PCS. I'm impressed with the phone and the various Android apps. I like swype text entry - it's easy to use. The drag & drop feature for music is great, too. Despite the reviewer's comments about the call quality, I haven't encountered any issues when the signal is strong. I live in a "vortex" and even my AT&T phone would drop calls. Go outside my neighborhood and it's all good. (Sprint also has connectivity issues in my neighborhood so it MUST be a geographical issue and not quality.)
Metro PCS calling with unlimited text and data (plus back-up service and phone insurance) saves me $35/ month over my old AT&T calling plan with 1,400 minutes, 200 text messages/ line and NO data, NO mobile web and NO insurance/back-up.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great looking phone with serious out-of-the-gate Flaws.
by nxsdesigns on August 23, 2011
Pros: This phone has a decent 3.5" screen with great image color. The onscreen keyboard is better than the discontinued LG Optimus M. The buttons seem to be slightly larger and are more accurate. Very nice 3.2 Megapixel camera which should now become an industr
Cons: Considering that I was the first buyer of this phone from any of the MetroPCS stores in Orange County or South L.A. I should have known that there would be some major glitches. Days 1 and 2 were great. We truly enjoy this phone while it was functioning pr

Summary: Over all, if this is what we have to expect from the first batch of this Android, I would stand clear. I returned to the MetroPCS Corporate office to have the issue reported and fixed and was told that since it is such a new phone, Samsung does not have any in inventory to replace this one. I could get a new one from the store, which I will do, but I am expecting to face the same problems with the new phone. According to the company rep., the phone will not be in stock at Samsung for approximately a month, but I should stop by in a week, stand in line, and ask for them to check again... Not what I signed up for.
Considering that the website cutoff the actual review, please read this. Days 3,4 and 5 with this phone have been a nightmare. It takes 15 minutes to turn on. If you do a soft reset by removing the battery and then attempt to power it up, it will show you the Samsung logo and the battery power, then it will power down again. this will repeat. If you finally are able to power it on, the battery status in the info bar shows that it is charging when it is no plugged into the charger. And it repeatedly gives you an alert warning saying that is is low battery and then show that it is charging. Major issues!
If you are one of those people who must own the latest and greatest and you have to get this phone... Don't say that you were not fully warned!

Good phone but...
by sabrelicious on February 10, 2013
Pros: Straightforward phone with just what I need and not too much crap I don't need.
Cons: The main issue with this phone is a design flaw for the charging port. It doesn't have a little flap over it, so moisture and dust get in there easily. I've had to replace this otherwise perfectly good phone twice because it wouldn't take a charge.
Summary: This phone would be perfect if it had a slide-out keyboard!
