Samsung Epic 4G (Sprint) price range: $99.99

The good: The Samsung Epic 4G has a knockout Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor, a front-facing camera, an impressive QWERTY keyboard, a 5.0-megapixel camera with an LED flash, and supports Sprint's 4G WiMax network. It is capable of acting as a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot for up to five devices.
The bad: The Samsung Epic 4G is the bulkiest of the Galaxy S phones and also the priciest. It also requires a costly data plan.
The bottom line: The Samsung Epic 4G is a multimedia powerhouse with features the other Galaxy S phones don't have. Unfortunately, it comes with a big price tag.

Awesome screen resolution and easy to use!
Pros: The picture quality on this phone is amazing!
I really like the LED on the front for taking pictures at night and being able to use it as a light.
Very easy to use!
I love the keyboard!Cons: The call quality could be better.

Summary: This is the first smartphone that I have owned (before this phone I had an Instinct), I have found this phone to be very easy to get used to and navigate.
I would have to say the best thing about this phone is the screen, the picture is amazing (way nicer than the HTC and droid phones I have seen).
I would highly recommend this phone...you won't be disappointed!!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

I really enjoy this phone

4G is a joke. I can only get it outside, even in a large city where there is supposed to be complete 4G coverage.
Being accustom to the great quality of HTC phones, my largest complaint with the Epic is that it is made so cheaply by Samsung. It feels very plasticy. The screen always feels loose. When I want to use my keyboard, I slide it open slowly, because I am afraid over time the screen is going to come off. Even when the keyboard is not open, the screen does not seem secure.
Like everyone else, I wish android could be updated quicker. I am waiting on Gingerbread now...but I'm content with Froyo 2.2 at the moment.
I had to get my first Epic replaced about 2 weeks after receiving it, because the capacitive back button kept freaking out (my hand was nowhere near it!) -always bringing me to the home screen while I was in the middle of texting or surfing the web. I'm glad Sprint had no problem getting me a replacement.
My text messages continue to get hung up sometimes, but I am guessing that is the network, not the phone (I had the same problem with Tmobile). The phone will try to send the text, tell me it failed, then I will try to resend and it will still say that the message failed (and all messages I try to send after the first failed message fail). The only fix I have found for this is rebooting.
Other than those problems, I really enjoy the phone. The screen is very beautiful and the keyboard is fantastic. I don't have to use my nails to press the keys!
The phone is fast for my needs. I use it constantly for texting, internet, and watching videos. Because of this, I do have to keep it plugged up whenever possible! I have a ton of apps, and this has not had a huge affect on the speed.
I actually like Samsung's touch wiz. The shortcuts in the notification bar are very helpful.
All in all, I really enjoy the Epic. I'm pretty sure I will not want to replace it within a year, like I have with all of my previous phones!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Super AMOLED 4 inch screen, 1 gig Snapdragon processor, the best querty keyboard in the smartphone world, front and rear facing cameras with flash, solid feel, ease of use, 4G capable, converts to mobile hot spot, does everything all the major smartphones
Cons: Battery life could be greater, but then again this can be said for ALL smartphones. Internal memory could be greater, but enjoys 16 gigs of SD space.

Summary: From the outset, this phone has everything any type user could want and more.! Processing power, functions and features to die for, the best QUERTY on the market, 4G speeds, super screen, HD for video, it doesall I want, neded and more. I never looked at this phone as a so-called I-phone killer, the I-phone isn't in this phone's class. I just use the phone to do virtually ANYTHING.! The touch screen is fantastic and the phone feels solid, not cheap and plasticky. This is the Rolls-Royce of Galaxy S phones from Samsung, and it is worth every penny.

Best phone I have ever used. Samsung created a monster.
by crex42 on January 28, 2011
Pros: 4" Super AMOLED screen, one word: AMAZING
Blazing fast processing and internet
Front facing camera for video chat
Slide-out qwerty keyboardCons: A little pricey, but worth it
Android 2.1 instead of 2.2
Have to pay extra for 4G, even if you don't have it in your area
Lack of customization for menus and buttons
Still no flash player for in-web videosSummary: The Epic 4G is an outstanding smartphone. It does everything I could want, and more. The phone is exceptionally fast, even though 4G hasn't gone on-line in my area ...
Summary: The Epic 4G is an outstanding smartphone. It does everything I could want, and more. The phone is exceptionally fast, even though 4G hasn't gone on-line in my area yet. I went from a Palm Pre (which I loved dearly) to the Epic, and there is really no comparison. The phone functions very well and does all that I could need. I am troubled that it was not released with Android 2.2 and there have no announcements as to when the update will come. I love the full-function keyboard, although, with the Android SWYPE feature, I don't use it as much as I thought I would.
The batter life was better than I expected, especially with the battery-saver features and apps I installed. You have access to the full Android Market with 1000's of games and apps, many for free. The animated live backgrounds are fun to show off, but really pretty useless and do drain battery life. I've used the phone for almost a month now, and it has only locked up once. I did have to pop the battery to start it up again.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Epic 4G and look forward to the release of Android 2.2.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best Phone I've Ever Had!
by msvmo87 on January 15, 2011
Pros: the screen is gorgeous. surprisingly lightweight phone, thin also with keypad! android is the best interface for any phone. rarely freezes, and the two cameras take better pics than a digital camera. the sound is amazing, as well as video playback.
Cons: i have no complaints.
Summary: I had the iPhone 3g & the iPhone 3gs... kept the iphone for years. I then converted over to blackberry for about a year (loved this phone as well), and ...
Summary: I had the iPhone 3g & the iPhone 3gs... kept the iphone for years. I then converted over to blackberry for about a year (loved this phone as well), and then i proceeded to get the evo. i placed my evo on the charger one day and took it off about an hour later and the screen was completely black. would not turn on. i took the phone back and said i would prepay for the epic, which was releases Aug 31st. The epic is simply amazing. beats the evo by a long shot. its extremely fast, beautiful vibrant screen. the keypad is so easy to use... and the keys are easy to push. the battery life is amazing. doesn't die as much as the evo did. all around, this may be the best phone that sprint has to offer. everyone's downfall seems to be the $10 4g service plan... it's not that expensive, quit whining. i think samsung did an REMARKABLE job with this phone!

The best phone I've ever owned
by gtagg on January 12, 2011
Pros: Ease of use, options to type (keyboard, on screen tapping, or swype), plus everything the iPhone can do and more. Open source, free applications, versus iPhone's same exact expensive ones. Speakerphone quality is great, and so is the camera.
Cons: Battery does drain rather quickly, but that's true with all Android phones. Other than that, I'm fully satisfied!
Summary: With Android, similar to Apple back in the day, Google is emphasizing open source applications to attract customers, believing that options and free applications are the way to go. Apple ...
Summary: With Android, similar to Apple back in the day, Google is emphasizing open source applications to attract customers, believing that options and free applications are the way to go. Apple has changed course since becoming the King of the Hill, and is now in protection mode regarding its technology and applications. As a result, Google is now winning over those very independent thinkers that Apple cultivated for years. I own everything Apple, except the iPhone. I can get the same applications on my Epic that I would have to pay for on the iPhone.
If you begin to believe that Android phones are better, or at least on par, with Apple's iPhone, then the Samsung Epic is bar none the best Android phone out there. So it is either as good or better than the iPhone itself. When you add in the extra costs for apps, bad call quality, and lack of keyboard for the iPhone, choosing the Epic over all other smartphones should be a no-brainer.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Love my epic...does everything but make me dinner..
Pros: Slide out keyboard, great quality Camera (samsungs 5mp camera with autofocus looks better than Evo's 8mp in my opinion), as well as many others
Cons: Would get 5 stars if it had Android 2.2 but that should be out soon..
