- The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a big step forward for Android, but it's not the giant leap you may have been expecting. As impressive as it is, Ice Cream Sandwich can be messy, and without it, the Galaxy Nexus is just another Nexus device.

The good: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus brings a ton of new and very welcome features with Ice Cream Sandwich. The design is sharp, the screen is gorgeous, and the internal performance is fantastic.
The bad: Ice Cream Sandwich has eliminated some of Android's learning curve in some aspects, just to re-create it in others. There was some static on calls, and there's no external memory card slot. Also, like other Samsung Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Nexus feels rather fragile.
The bottom line: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a big step forward for Android, but it's not the giant leap you may have been expecting. As impressive as it is, Ice Cream Sandwich can be messy, and without it, the Galaxy Nexus is just another Nexus device.

Interesting transition from an iPhone
by john78259 on December 24, 2011
Pros: The large and excellent display makes browsing and apps an enjoyabl experience. Response time is pretty good and works well on LTE. ICS is pretty intuitive and easy to use.
Cons: Battery life is short and the phone isn't as responsive as my iPhone4. Voice calls sound "tinny" and not very clear. The small speaker makes it difficult to hear so plan on having some good headphones.

Summary: This is a nice phone. ICS isn't as polished and responsive as iOS, but it provides a pretty good user experience. Verizon is supposed to be addressing the recption issues shortly. If they can clear up the call quality, it would definitely be a keeper. This would be a great 4G alternative to the current iPhone if the external speaker and ear speaker are improved.

Perfect Blend
by sonelone on November 20, 2011
Pros: Screen(you really have to see it in person, it is quite an accomplishment), Nexus, ICS, Hardware acceleration, zero shutter time, battery life, Curved design.
Cons: Camera is not on par with HTC Amaze 4g or GSII, GPU should have been better, but it really is not an issue with any of the games I played. It might be an issue in the future because of more graphically intense games though

Summary: Android phones outside of the Nexus line always seem to not be a sum of the parts. While a phone can have amazing specs, camera, UI, etc, it always ends up disappointing in some area. This is not the case with the Galaxy Nexus. It is blazing fast, highly customizable, and the screen is absolutely gorgeous. My friend with an iPhone 4 told me that the iPhone had the best screen on the market, so I just showed him the GN. He was absolutely blown away. Also, battery life is great for a phone that has a 4.65 inch screen. The phone is also very durable and fits in the hand quite nicely despite its large size.

This is Android as it was meant to be experienced.
by mnoesen on November 19, 2011
Pros: Unbelievable user interface. 4.0 has really changed the way we'll use a cell phone in the same way that Wii changed the way we play video games. I simply can't wait until it is available for Sprint.
Cons: I feel like it could have a higher megapixel camera. Other than that, I'm having a hard time finding real problems. One other thing is I'm finding a hard time finding the exact screen dimensions--I'm used to an Evo 4G and I love the big screen.
Summary: Wow.

Phone is beautiful and refined.
by DanielPW on November 18, 2011
Pros: Zero shutter lag tons of editing option built in. You can have a press it miss it photo or an instant press it get it experience. 5mp for zero shutter is a great trade 8mp doesn't make that big of a difference it's all about the camera lens.
Cons: Screen is giant but is needed since they made this for tablets and smart phones. I cant believe Cnet never mentions the no shutter lag like ***.

Pros: ICS, for sure.
Cons: Camera software could have more features.
Summary: I got to use one for a few hours, and fell in love with ICS. It's the best!

Pros: 720P Super Amoled HD screen is compelling along with the curved differentiated screen.
Pentaband global GSM Phone - Samsung is ONE up over iPhone 4Swhich can't do 1700mhz TMobile HSPA+21 and 2up over most HTC phones

Summary: Looks like Samsung and Verizon worked out a deal to keep the NEXUS somewhat compromised against other Android phones like the Motorola Razr (kevlar build and thinner design), HTC Rezound with equally good screen ,the but superior GPU and faster CPU, or even Samsung's Galaxy S2 with bigger screen and GPU. Why not come out with a true Flagship and charge another $188 for those android fans who want a statement piece that ICS stands for?

Android at it's purest and best!
by johnnys2k on October 17, 2012
Pros: Dual-core proecessor, 4.65" SuperAMOLED HD display, Pure Google experience, Runs fast, No bloatware, removeable battery, great front-facing camera, battery life, latest and greatest Google updates.
Cons: No memory expansion (microSD) 16GB installed, speaker is a little weak but not terrible, 5MP camera is mediocre.
Summary: I see a lot of people not liking this phone. It's probably because you don't know what a pure Google phone is all about. It's about simplicity ...
Summary: I see a lot of people not liking this phone. It's probably because you don't know what a pure Google phone is all about. It's about simplicity and just getting tasks done. There's no bloatware with the Nexus line which are pure Google phones. If you want stock fancy widgets and other things, then get TouchWiz by Samsung or HTC's Sense UI. This phone gets the job done fast. Jelly Bean made it a whole lot better. Extremely smooth OS. I absolutely LOVE my Galaxy Nexus. Everything is just snappy. Call quality is great, and I've never gotten a complaint for users on the other end of a call. There are just so many Pros than there are cons about this phone. The most important Pro to me is that it gets the latest Google updates. The phone is very customizable which is why I chose Android of Apple's iOS. There's only I few gripes I have, which aren't the biggest deal. One is the lack of expandable memory. I know a lot of devices are having built in memory which I don't like too much because I like the option of adding more memory. But the Galaxy Nexus gives you a fair amount(16GB). The speakers is a little weak, it's decent, but could be better. Last but not least the 5MP is the greatest. It gets decent shots, but when it's dark, the pictures are very grainy. I don't take too many pics with my phone so its not that big of an issue. In bright light, the camera is just fine.
I definitely recommend this phone if you want the pure Google experience. Or you can wait for the new LG Nexus coming out soon. -
Overall good, but could be better

Pros: Jelly Bean features, lack of carrier alterations. Android as it was meant to be.
Cons: Battery life is only one day, speaker needs to be louder when playing media, no SD slot.

Summary: I very much like the phone and can strongly recommend it, but if it were a single thickness instead of having a chin, it could hold a much more significant battery. Louder when playing media would also be nice. The ability to expand storage would also be nice, but as long as I don't try to use it for watching movies, it should be adequate.
It is a good unit, but a few small changes could make it much better.
