The good: Oodles of screen real estate make the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 terrific for videos, games, and reading; and its improved stylus aids productivity. A blazing quad-core processor, a great camera, and strong battery life round out the advantages of this Android 4.1 phone.
The bad: The huge display makes the Galaxy Note 2 unwieldy to carry, and hiccups in the S Pen stylus and apps can slow you down. The pricey Note 2 isn't a suitable tablet replacement across all categories.
The bottom line: Samsung delivers a powerful, boundary-pushing device that gets a lot right. Yet its complicated features and high price raise questions about its purpose.

Better than the Samsung Galaxy S3.
by luvthecards1 on May 2, 2013
Pros: TEXTING, PHOTOS, DISPLAY
Cons: It is a bit large and the music does seem a little lower quality, but it's not enough for me to dislike this phone more than the S3.

Summary: I am a small framed female and I chose this over the up & coming S4. I have faith in the Samsung products after owning an Iphone 3 and seeing that the Iphone 5 has yet to improve on size and visual effects. The Samsung picture quality on the camera, video and Internet is FAR better than I phone. Infact, I was borrowing my mother's Iphone 5 for a week b4 I realized that it was a 5!!! They really need to update their product b4 I'll ever go back!!! It was like using an old calculator. It's dark and boring. If you want a fast, beautiful display to read the internet and take photos, the NOTE2 is your best bet.

Very Intelligent Gadget!
by embalmfirst37 on April 24, 2013
Pros: I love everything about this baby. Size, talk and surf on 4g, oh and it's on Verizon.
Cons: I'd like to figure out a way to get my emails pushed faster.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have basic screen design problem.
by ssiddharth7 on April 17, 2013
Pros: Every thing is good but basic screen design problem.
Screen is exposed and its break very easily.Cons: My two screens are breaked (one without any impact in pocket only).
So I recommend you not to buy this model or any Samsung big screen phone as the screens are exposed -
Powerful smartphone- for people who need the stylus
by bk_inAZ2 on April 10, 2013
Pros: Very well integrated software
Very fast!
The S-Pen enables a whole new world of apps
Power to play 10 videos as thumbnails
Huge battery (removable)
MicroSDHC slot
NFC
Pretty good camera with fast and slow motion
Takes stills while shooting HD videoCons: Screen is dim
Screen is not as sharp as expected
Goofy file management
S-Voice stinks
Kies Air (PC connection) is just plain awful
Takes some self-training to learn to harness the capabilities!Summary: I used to have an LG Nitro HD and the screen spoiled me (that and the Optimus G are the best I've been able to find). But I needed ...
Summary: I used to have an LG Nitro HD and the screen spoiled me (that and the Optimus G are the best I've been able to find). But I needed the stylus to point at tiny links in some software I use for research and teaching (superscripts and subscripts for footnotes and cross-references). The S-Pen, it turns out, makes child's play out of that, and does "100x" what I expected.
(I need to proofread *before* posting.) One of the sentences above should read: "One of them is extSDcard0- that's the microSDHC card."
Let's start with the bad. The screen's brightness stinks. Yeah, it could be worse, but it should be MUCH better. My wife and I have our devices set to manual brightness, which we have to change. In less-than bright light, the auto-brightness makes the screen annoyingly dim. In direct sunlight the screen might as well be off (yes, I mean its image is invisible). The screen is not sharp. I used Google maps on this and the aforementioned LG phones (old and new, all three have HD screens) to find the Salton Sea in California. Just south of is a grid of rectangles of farmland. With Palm Springs at the left edge of the screen, and Mexicali at the right, the grid is barely discernible on the Note 2 (though larger), and very clearly visible (crisp looking) on the LG screens. The difference is almost stunning considering the similarity between the resolution, and that the Note 2's screen is significantly larger.
I can hand-write an Email (but cannot make the capture box larger, unfortunately), so the person receiving it sees exactly what I wrote or drew. I don't know of another smartphone that can do that. I don't even see how that would be possible without the stylus. It also recognizes speech, and handwriting (block letters or cursive), and very accurately. The button on the S-Pen makes it even more useful and by a surprisingly large margin.
Speaking of speech- I 86'd S-Voice. Google's speech recognition works much better and I have to hit the Bluetooth button once- not 6 times to make a call using my BT headset with the screen locked.
NFC works perfectly, as does Wi-Fi direct (very fast). LTE is faster than anyone's home Internet connection that I've seen (Phoenix, AZ)!
Samsung seems to be on-top of the bug fixes and firmware upgrades. As a software developer, I appreciate that.
The file system has lots of "sdcard" directories. On of the is extSDcard0- that's the microSDHC card. "sdcard0" is user-accessible internal memory (11GB-of-16GB FLASH). Seems dumb.
The 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM make this thing screaming fast. It can run three apps visibly at once (two panes and a floating video), though I seldom need even two visible simultaneously.
And, I have to say (though I really don't)- AT&T has made these smartphones (my wife has one too) even better for us. I am just a customer, but they have kept me a happy one for about a dozen years (since before they were Cingular). At least when they mess up, they treat me like a valued customer. I've heard horror stories from friends with other carriers- and, in fairness, I've read a few online about AT&T too.
Except for the disappointingly dim and fuzzy screen (still not too bad), this phone aces the exam in every category! So 4.5 stars. Samsung- buy your screens from LG!

It's a phone, and the size is a benefit.
by hoovcat on April 5, 2013
Pros: Speed, size and screen.
Cons: Just like the i-Phone, it still doesn't do true multi tasking. (Why didn't Palm make better hardward?)

Summary: This is a great phone. It's not a tablet, it just happens to have a very big beautiful screen for a phone. Unless you require a tiny phone to feel delicate, the size of the screen actually gives it a great advantage over the many capable competitors.
The battery performance has been great.

Large by Comparison But HUGE at Delivering the Goods.
by WeMETonCNET on March 29, 2013
Pros: If you build it they will come.
Applaud Samsung for being the Pied Piper of phablets. Had foresight & innovation to go with the large form, contrary to what people think they want/like.
Best solution to having to purchase/carry tablet and phone.Cons: Materials & Market Research :(
If polycarbonate, need something neither too heavy (Lumia 920) or cheap/light/slippery (Galaxy/Note).
BB Z10 got it right with a plastic body that has a fine-texture grip that looks & feels good. (S.Srijan on SkotGaSummary: Great (possibly the best) on the market; design build doesn't reflect same.

Phone is fast, Display is amazing, Love the S-pen!!
by kmohammed86 on March 22, 2013
Pros: S-Pen; love taking notes, writing in my calendar and keeps me from touching my phone all the time. Display is amazing, very impressed with the resolution. Finally the speed; FAST, and with the ability to multi-task without a hiccup is very desirable.
Cons: I have no problems had the phone for few days now.
Summary: I am really enjoying it. I see some complaints about the phone being to large but then DON'T BUY IT. I love the big screen and once you get ...
Summary: I am really enjoying it. I see some complaints about the phone being to large but then DON'T BUY IT. I love the big screen and once you get it and use you will appreciate the larger screen. When I was in consideration for this phone several ex-iPhone users recommended me that I get this phone. I am very happy with my decision.

This Gamma loves this phone!!!
by ReneenFytvl on March 18, 2013
Pros: Big so Gamma can see it better (and I can make the font even bigger, but I'm not that blind... yet).
Loud so Gamma can hear it better (I had a lot of fun today attaching songs to Ringtones)
Tactile so Gamma can feel it better (well, love the swoop)Cons: Slick as a wet door knob (will be glad when the gel cases get here)
Wobbly feeling volume up/down and power button
Power button needs to be at top of case
Samsung keyboard "swoops" but it isn't Swype, so just change it over.Summary: Although it took me several days to configure the phone (too many family emergencies), and even though I went through the online setup, I still had to get AT&...
Summary: Although it took me several days to configure the phone (too many family emergencies), and even though I went through the online setup, I still had to get AT&T Technical on the line to get it all set up in the system with IMEI #s and such. So its been working for a few hours -- I LOVE IT. I'm actually reading a book on it at the moment. I may not go back to my Kindle
