The good: Oodles of screen real estate make the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 terrific for videos, games, and reading; and its improved stylus aids productivity. A blazing quad-core processor, a great camera, and strong battery life round out the advantages of this Android 4.1 phone.
The bad: The huge display makes the Galaxy Note 2 unwieldy to carry, and hiccups in the S Pen stylus and apps can slow you down. The pricey Note 2 isn't a suitable tablet replacement across all categories.
The bottom line: Samsung delivers a powerful, boundary-pushing device that gets a lot right. Yet its complicated features and high price raise questions about its purpose.

PERFECTION
by BlindWolf187 on March 18, 2013
Pros: - Giant battery, screen, processor...
- Superb attention to detailCons: - The S-Pen is a little finicky at times. The potentiometers that adjust the sensitivity of the button, the stylus tip, and the AirView function can get knocked around and mess things up (although that's neither hard to fix nor expensive to replace).

Summary: People seem put off by the size of this thing, like it's too big for a phone. But I look at things slightly differently. I don't really care for the typical smartphones, they're just too claustrophobic to use for heavy web surfing. If I had my way, I'd just have a giant touch screen the size of a tabletop at the ready all the time. Of course I can't do that. I could get a tablet, but that's just something that I can walk around the house with. What Samsung have done is take a smoothly operating touch screen device and shrink it down JUST ENOUGH for me to fit it comfortably into my front pocket. The Note 2 doesn't fall awkwardly in-between two different markets for electronics buyers, it is for a new little niche for those of us that just want to have as much interactive screen in our pocket as we can fit (and it may as well make phone calls too, since I'm lugging it around anyway).
Samsung has delivered more than just a big fast phone/tablet thing. All those things are great, but they aren't unique. What is harder to come by is a sense of REAL QUALITY. When I handle this phone, I get the feeling that all the people involved in designing it made each little thing as good as they could.
The attention to detail is phenomenal. I think the fit and finish is very good, although it's drawn some criticism. It feels solid and well built and expensive; it feels like a high end electronic. But there is so much more to it than that. For example, the haptic feedback of the space bar feels different than the other keys on the keyboard, just like a real keyboard. The gestures are intuitive and easy to implement. The software is easy to use. I feel like I know exactly how to use this phone because it's features are implemented exactly how I would've done it myself.
This is a beautiful smartphone that is a pleasure to use. -
One of the best devices I have ever owned!
by Johosh on March 16, 2013
Pros: Perfect screen size for a wide range of tasks, including reading, gaming, and watching video.
Screen size is great for productivity apps in the workplace.
Out-of-the-box creative tools are second-to-none.
Solid Camera (8MP) and app.
Hard to misplace.Cons: The size is slightly inconvenient on occasion, but not often.
The keyboard is slightly cumbersome in landscape orientation, but this can be adjusted.Summary: I purchased the Galaxy Note 2 as a replacement for an aging iPhone, and I'm glad I did. I work in the tech industry, and as a result I ...
Summary: I purchased the Galaxy Note 2 as a replacement for an aging iPhone, and I'm glad I did. I work in the tech industry, and as a result I get to try a wide variety of devices; since first playing with the Samsung Galaxy Camera (also a device I'd recommend, if you can swallow the price tag), I have been in love with their Android devices. Android in general offers more customization than the iPhone, and Samsung has a proven track record with quality hardware in almost all of their products, mobile or otherwise.
The size of the device will likely attract some attention when you are making a call, and it does take some getting used to. That said, after a day with the Note 2 one quickly realizes that "yes, it does fit in my pockets," and, "yes, I can hold it with one hand," after which the size of the screen makes smaller devices look like a child's toy. Watching video on the Note 2 is breathtaking in comparison to my old iPhone, and it is the perfect replacement for ereaders -- I love the ability to read a chapter or two when stuck in unfortunate circumstances, like lineups, or while at work, or at dinner parties, or church, or... you get the idea.
Using it in the workplace (possibly a Con, depending how you look at it) is great too. Productivity apps are more user-friendly than on smaller devices, and making quick notes is easy with the stylus, which when removed prompts the phone to open a note-taking app, even if the phone is locked.
Creative tools, too, are great on the Note 2. Out-of-the-box apps are fun, and with the introduction of Photoshops new mobile device app, the stylus can be a great tool for on-the-go ideas. People are amazed at some of the graphics I am able to create using my Note 2.
The camera on this phone is, well, a camera on a phone: good, but not great. Low-light pictures are not its strong suit, but Samsung has provided enough good options for brighter settings to outweigh the bad. There are enough options to allow someone familiar with photography to configure the camera and adjust for its shortcomings.
Also, the Note 2 is hard to misplace, and so is the stylus. Say you use the stylus (you actually have to use it, not just remove it, so I have learned), then you put it down and walk away with your phone, you will receive a little message reminding you to retrieve the little guy before you get too far.
So, as much as I could keep raving about how great the Note 2 has performed over the last month, I'll stop and leave a little mystery for you. It is a great device, but realistically it probably isn't for everyone. The pros vastly outweigh the cons, but if the size worries you, check out the Galaxy S3 (or S4, which is coming soon). -
Nearly perfect once customized.
by likeFactsNotFanboyHype on March 16, 2013
Pros: Finally, a good sized screen. Great battery life is a major benefit and once you go stylus you never go back.
Cons: Must be rooted to improve the amount and type of programs you can run at the same time.
Summary: I've had this for nearly a third of a year and I still think it's the best phone for my needs. Very satisfied.

Simply amazing.
by theKpher on February 28, 2013
Pros: Vibrant screen, snappy operation, incredible entertainment experience, talk to Galaxy, stylus customized for the device - great for note taking, UNBELIEVABLE battery life - easily a full 17-18 hour day with regular use, plus the other Android perks.
Cons: Cannot reach the entire screen with your thumb when using it one-handed, and can get "fumbly" with one hand. But ya just can't have your cake AND eat it, too. Imagine using an iPad (or even an iPad mini) with one hand. Don't like that? Try the GS3.

Summary: Top of the market phone...hands down. I am provided an iPad for work and have had to play with my wife's iPhone enough to know that this and the GS3 knock both out of the park. I wasn't convinced on the "phablet" concept, but this device could definitely remove one more gadget from the necessary arsenal by combining the two.
Still skeptical? Go play with one and try to put the GN2 in your pocket. It's big, but once you hold it you are entranced. -

Summary: As an Apple supporter for many years now, I have finally decided to drop the bomb and grab me one of the top-of-the-line Android Phones, The Galaxy Note II. iOS and iPhone, in particular, have become stale after using it for a while where I am limited to the same U/I interface. I tried many different methods such as Jailbreaking but it still didn't work. The Galaxy Note II however has been made to be customized, from the home-screen to the on-screen keyboard. Heck, even the S-Pen has different types, depending on which you prefer. Note II has a big display that is great for browsing the web and watching video. The S-Pen is a huge feature, I like how I can write in my handwriting and it will type it for me. Also the ability to multi-task is great. Airview is awesome. At first, I saw this as kind of a big phone, but now I got used to it, it is the perfect size for me. Now don't get me wrong, I still love Apple at what they do, but frankly, they haven't produced much to the iPhone in recent years. Other than the Retina Display on the iPhone 4, we only get updated hardware and slightly larger displays. Apple need to up their game now, to reach the Note II standard. Now, I wanted to like the iPhone 5, I really did, but I find it hard to do so, after using the 4S for a while. If you have trouble finding a phone, or you're not sure whether to get the note, get the Note II. You'll be happy with your purchase. The phone has so many features, it's hard to list them all in this brief summary.

This is what happen when a phone and tablet have a baby
by jpennie on February 16, 2013
Pros: Large Screen for viewing just about anything looks better on a bigger screen, more power not only having a quad core 1.6ghz processor and 2gb internal memory which is more powerful than a netbook, it also has a 3100mah batty come on.
Cons: There are no cons. if you say the device is big samsung thought of a one handed feature if you say its slippery then get a case when you buy it. There are no down sides. Most phones with different feature are things that take time to get used to.

Summary: Now you ever have a device where you get it for the first few days and learn about it it usually gets boring fast until you start learning about the apps. Well with this device and its many features you can spend weeks on learning about its out of the box features like.
OK had this phone for sometime now and I can still say that it is the best phone ever created. If your looking for a device to make phone calls on this is not the one because a phone call is the last thing your going to want to do. With the quad core processor and 2 gb of memory, it is a power house of features. My only problem with the phone is that it doesnt appear that anyone has like information on all the features of this phone which makes the learning process kind of difficult because just when you think you know everything to know about the phone someone will show you a new feature you weren't paying attention to or didn't know. I think that in itself is bad. I am always viewing youtube videos of people showing features but cant display all of them because it would take too long.
Split screen: having the ability to watch a movie, text friends,go on the internet, make a call all on the same screen at the same time its crazy but I have done it while waiting for the bus.
Very powerful witb its quad core processor. I can share a movie using sbeam while using the internet and with the battery power keep going with no problems.
Talk about Sbeam I can transfer over 2Gb of data in around 1min and a half to 2 minutes. Which means songs and pictures transfer before you have the time to blink. And while the transfer is going you still can watch your movie or call or do whatever you were doing.
Spen: I was talking on the phone and the person had a number to give me for the doctors office. I took out the Spen wrote the note and the device using snote too the hand writting and turned it into text. The pen has its own apps that appear when you pull it out. Plus its completely usable with everything from Movies to pictures.
The major beauty of the device is that you can have it for weeks and still learn something new. Example I am the type to go hard on a new phone when I get it I spend a weekend learning around 80 to 90% of what the device can do because once I buy something. I want to make sure I didnt waste my money and get what I paid for. Learned the complete use for the iPhone in about 2 to 3 hours in terms of features and functionality without app downloads. The windows phone took me a little longer because without apps the windows phone has a ton of features it took me about 2 to 3 good days to learn a majority of the features of the device. Now this device after 3 weeks with this device, I'm still learning.
Fun things to pay attention too. Spen, upgrade memory to 64gb, types of movies it can view, s voice functions, camera recording functions that go beyond insane, sbeam, google now, google plus, google latitude, the hotspot features, powermode functions, one handed functions, multi window function, all cast share, driving mode, the ability to use as a desktop computer on your tv with bluetooth keyboard and mouse plus the note 2 hdmi connector, mind you that most of these features dont require a download for the phone and you still have an amazing app store and somewhere on down the line you can pay attention to the phone.
Plus with all the work you spend trying to learn even half of these features theres still something new about the phone to learn. Which means you wont get bored with it.

Pros: Large screen, long battery life, fast processor, slim for such a large phone and S pen.

Summary: I was not sure spending so much on a phone was going to go the cheaper route and settle for a less expensive phone but found this on sale. Worth every penny!
As all phones, this is not for everyone. I am have large hands and still found that I had to get used to handling this phone with one hand. Not easy texting or emailing on the go but I got the hang of it. My girlfriend has the GS3 and this by far a better phone in so many ways. I was expecting a larger version of the GS3 but not the case here. The screen colors are better, faster downloads and processing make me get things done quicker and not feel like I wasting so much time on my phone. Larger screen makes for easy reading too, kinda the point of this phone. The thing I love as much as any feature is that this plays so well and seamlessly with my LG smart TV!
I have used a stylus on phones before and not interested in using it on this phone but it was done so well I find myself using it more and more often to add notes. I have not had any phone last me through the day with my extremely heavy usage but this gets me through with 50% with wifi, BT, NFC and GPS running. I have not used an Iphone but from what I hear from my coworkers I am sure the Iphone will outlast this.
Nice solid feel to it, but it is a mobile phone so the argument about cheap plastic Samsung phone arguments are pointless. I have had nothing but compliments from actual users.
If anyone is considering this phone, just make sure you see the phone and use it before ordering. Size and personal portability would be an only reason to consider another phone. -
This is the best phone I ever owned.

Pros: I am elderly, and my old smartphone was no longer of use to me because I could not read the keys. During phone calls, if asked to press the pound sign, for instance, I could not locate it in time! This phone is easy to read!
Cons: It was very pricy, but I still love it!
