The good: The Samsung Galaxy Prevail has an elegant design and a surprisingly decent camera. It's eligible for Boost Mobile's reduced-rate plan.
The bad: Boost Mobile turned off the Prevail's Android 2.2 hot-spot capabilities. Also, call quality could be better.
The bottom line: The Samsung Galaxy Prevail marries sophistication with good value to become Boost Mobile's best smartphone.

I hate it.
by shannernanner on October 10, 2012
Pros: Having trouble thinking of any
Cons: Multiple errors, very small storage, dropped calls, does not work as it should at all, Swype keyboard is annoying, touch screen sometimes clicks on the thing next to what you are touching

Worked Great at first
by ItsStephen02 on May 30, 2012
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: To many pointless apps that pretty much do that same thing installed that take up space. Major problem with charging phone. Even when phone is not plugged in a charger, it will still say its charging. Which runs out the battery even faster.
Summary: Love the phone at first, by now I HATE this hunk of trash!

Technical problems and incompetent tech support.
by NFConstruction on March 23, 2012
Pros: Looks like a good touch screen. Affordable.
Cons: Intermittent problems reading SD card. Freezes randomly and requires restart. Biggest problem is that 3 months into ownership the battery will no longer charge, giving the error "Unable to charge non supported battery. See user manual."

Summary: Has intermittent problems reading SD card. Freezes randomly. Biggest problem is that I've had it for 3 months (thus am unable to take it back to the store for a refund) and the battery will no longer charge, giving the error "Unable to charge non supported battery. See user manual." The user manual says nothing about this so I called tech support, they gave me the usual list of things to try- restart, take the battery out put it back in, perform factory reset. None of this worked so they had me send it in- phone, battery, and charger. Two weeks later I got my phone back with a paper stating that they had replaced a component, the software was updated, and that the problem was resolved. I immediately plugged it in, and got the exact same error! I called and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes for "advanced tech support" someone finally got on the line. After explaining the issue to them, and asking what my options were and why they would send me the phone back saying "problem resolved" if it had the exact same problem I sent it in for, the rep told me in an irritated tone told me my only option was to send the battery in, because the place they test the phones was a different facility than where they test the batteries and they could not possibly have known that the problem was the battery the first time I sent it in. Then I mentioned arbitration and he forwarded me to "executive customer relations" where the rep was much more polite, and offered to send me another battery but that they could not expedite shipping and it would take another week. I will never purchase another Samsung product again. Terrible experience.

Don't bother unless you want an expensive paperweight!

Summary: Purchased this phone from HSN, one week past the 30 day return period phone started rebooting itself, Samsun phone support tried to help but no luck. Sent for warranty service, they said water damage (phone NEVER got wet) so they would not honor warranty. Did some internet research, found this was a widespread problem, so it seems that Samsung built a defective phone, and rather than honor warranty and fix, they choose to blame their customers to get out of fixing. Really, truly, don't bother.

Summary: This is a great phone! I decided on getting this phone for 2 reasons. The 1st reason was the price ($149.00)and the 2nd reason was it is a no-contract phone. After my last experience with the Samsung Gem I was unsure if getting another Samsung smartphone was a good idea. I took the chance and I absolutely love it. I have had no problems with it. Every app that has been downloaded works and it has not slowed down or dropped any calls. I love having the option of either writing a text using swype or by using the android keyboard. I would recommend this phone to family and friends. This is one of the best phones I have purchased.

NO thank you! Boost is great but this phone is no good.
by The_Boondocks on February 10, 2012
Pros: Clear call quality. Works great on a budget.
Cons: Freezes. Random lock. Lots of junk apps that can't be deleted. Little internal memory. Horrible touch screen key board.

Summary: This phone makes me want to pitch it out the window. I've had it for six months. I love to text. If you text a lot this is not the phone for you! If you want to easily end a call. (Who wouldn't?) This is not the phone for you. It lags when trying to select on the touch screen. When you attempt to end a phone call the phone locks and unlocks several times before allowing you to select end. It has come to a point that I just wait for the other person to hang up. I have a 8gb memory card. There are 20 pictures on my phone and 5 apps I downloaded. I have run out of internal memory. I tried placing everything on the memory card and it only allowed me to do so with the 5 apps. I'm still running out of memory. SERIOUSLY?! Enough is enough. I thought I could deal since I have an IPOD touch that does everything I need. I truly thought I could deal with the "smart phone" offered by Boost. I have now gone back to my Rant. At least it works when I need it to without all the frustraion. This is a paperweight at best.
