The good: The Samsung Galaxy S 4G has 4G connectivity, a front-facing camera for video calls, and a larger battery. Android 2.2 offers impressive data speeds and good call quality. Other highlights include a rich and vibrant Super AMOLED touch screen and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording.
The bad: No camera flash. The Galaxy S 4G has less internal memory than the Vibrant. There was some slight sluggishness with some tasks.
The bottom line: The Samsung Galaxy S 4G is a fantastic Android smartphone for T-Mobile customers, delivering fast data speeds and other improvements, but Vibrant owners should be fine holding off for now.

Lots of phone, but won't work with Mac - bad echos, too
by vicarviccs on July 14, 2011
Pros: Good screen imagery, fast internet access, responsive touchscreen
Cons: Won't connect with MACBOOKPRO or charge from USB; bad echo for callers, had better quality call sound on old Nokia 6600 on both ends; phone book harder to use than old one.
Summary: Returned this phone after 5 days. T-Mobile could not help me hook with Mac, referred me to Samsung, who had super manual but NO link up program for Mac. Some ...
Summary: Returned this phone after 5 days. T-Mobile could not help me hook with Mac, referred me to Samsung, who had super manual but NO link up program for Mac. Some items available on European models absent on this one. Ensure your specific model when researching. Bought a battery-case, but still sucked up current, leaving about a day of useful battery life. Wish my old phone would do wi-fi!

It's the Samsung Vibrant only AMAZING!!!!
by elias5414 on February 23, 2011
Pros: great screen, front facing camera, smooth (no lag), longer lasting battery, better facebook integration, amazing multimedia support, great call quality, phone voice controls.
Cons: The only con is that there still is no camera flash.

Summary: Some may say that this is just the Vibrant with a little bit of a facelift and that its still the same old mediocre Samsung product. That however would definitely be a mistake. I have been very tired of my Vibrant ever since I bought it from someone. I decided that I would look past this Samsung stigma and give the Galaxy S 4G a shot and if I didn't like it, I would return it. This one is definitely staying in my pocket.
First off, the most important part for me is that it is extremely smooth running. My Vibrant was always one step behind me, even with Froyo. The Galaxy S 4G keeps up with me every step of the way. I never have to wait for it to catch up.
Second, the battery lasts a very long time. I had the phone charged to about 65% before I had to take it off of the charger to take it to work. 8 hours later, the phone was still at about 30% charged. Other smart phones, last half as long. I remember sometimes my Vibrant battery would last at longest, 16 hours.
Front facing camera - The front facing camera is great. Not only so I can check out that ghastly pimple when I'm out and about, but I can actually use it for video chat. Yeah the video quality isn't that great, but if it was better, we would definitely be using up our 5GB data allotment very quickly.
Multimedia support - Being able to easily sync my multimedia files to my phone using wireless connection is awesome. I never have to mount and unmount my sd card again.
The facebook integration is so much better. The feeds and updates widget allows you to click on links, photos, and videos that people post on their profiles. It even allows you to upload photos from your home screen. Definite "Like".
I've only had it a day and there are probably many many more things that I will like about it as time goes by. I can't believe I'm saying it but kudos to Samsung for making a really well thought out product.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Cons: Touch screen to sensitive for my liking. Went from Blackberry to this phone and do not like the touch keyboard. Can use the Blackberry with one hand, pretty hard to do with the Samsung Galaxy. Screen is very hard to see in full sunlight. Screen looks

Summary: HAD THIS PHONE FOR ABOUT A MONTH LOVE IT. IT DOES EVERYTHING. IT HAS TAKEN THE PLACE OF ALL MY ELECTRONICS. I HAVE STOPPED TOTING MY BIG 17' LAPTOP EVERYWHERE. i JUST DONT NEED IT. I SURF THE NET LIKE IM AT HOME FROM MY PHONE WITHOUT WIRELESS SIGNAL. ACCESS TO ALL MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS. DOCUMENTS, PHOTOS, FILES ATTACH TO EMAILS. CAN OPEN THEM AND SEND THEM. IM IN HEAVEN! GREAT CALL QUALITY, TEXTING, GAMES EVERYTHING YOU NEED. DO NOT BOTHER WITH OTTERBOX LIMITED SELECTION TO PROTECT THIS BABY! GET A TRIDENT CASE TRIDENT CASE.COM WORKS GREAT YOU CAN PLAY HOCKEY WITH THE THING AND ITS GOOD AS NEW. I ALSO GOT THE CLEAR PROTECTIVE SHIELD FOR WHEN ITS OUT OF THE CASE. WILL SOMEONE HELP ME TO ROOT THIS PHONE AND TELL ME WHAT THE BENEFITS ARE TO DOING SO?
still going strong. i bought 2 extended batteries and charger on ebay for $3.50 total. battery lasts all day and then some. also bought a 32gb card. this is the perfect hand held super computer now! i speed tested against droid X, iphone 4, evo etc. every phone my friends and family have galaxy S won handedly. 4 bars and im pulling 9.4 consistantly. same conditions those phones didnt go over 8.1. this phone competes with any other phone on the market to date even the newer models. dont listen to these people who are partial to crack berries or dont know how to use the phone. i have about 70 apps and phone runs smooth. on board memory could be better but its hardly a deal breaker for everything you get out of it

by gentime on February 27, 2011
Pros: The 4g speeds. my max was about 15000kbs. The screen is just as awesome as my Vibrant. The front faceing camera is neat, be better once other people get phones with ffc to use it. Right it's best a digital mirror.
Cons: It's has the crappy T-mobile Bloat... They swapped the internal memory to 1gb and put in the 16gb in the Micro sd slot. Samsungs updates...
Summary: This is phone is just an updated vibrant. With some added bells in whistles which should of been in the first place. I really do like this phone. It's ...

Pros: Weight, UMA, front-facing camera, display, speed, basically everything!
Cons: None as of yet
Summary: This is a fantastic phone. I came from the original Vibrant which was a good phone, but the small tweaks they made, this phone is a beast! Highly recommended

Summary: Worst phone I have ever had. I have been counting down the months till two year contracts end. Since the first day I got it it has randomly started buzzing and just shuts off. There is no way it will come back on unless you take the battery out.The battery life is also terrible. I would never suggest this phone to anyone!
It somehow knows when there is going to be a tornado or some other type of storm because every single time it has either run out of battery or completely shuts off.
On the bright side the phone is literally unbreakable. I have dropped the phone numerous times and the thing will not break. -
I've never had so many issues with a phone!
by kstorms13 on November 2, 2012
Pros: None that I can think of
Cons: Shuts itself off, doesn't charge, doesn't send notifications, crashes constantly, flash is the worst, doesn't accept incoming calls
