The good: The Samsung Galaxy S II supports T-Mobile's faster HSPA+ network and has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and an NFC chip. The Android Gingerbread smartphone also has a spacious and vibrant Super AMOLED Plus touch screen, 16GB of internal memory, and great camera performance.
The bad: The smartphone is high-priced and on the larger side, and you can't remove bloatware.
The bottom line: The Samsung Galaxy S II ranks as one of T-Mobile's most powerful and feature-rich Android smartphones, but it's somewhat pricey.

What a Let Down!
by MadJoe on April 23, 2012
Pros: Dual Core, that's it.
Cons: Screen size is WAY too big for 800x480 resolution. Chassis is WAY too big to fit comfortably in the hand. T-Mobile & Samsung are great tag-team partners when it comes to dropping support for devices.
Summary: The Vibrant, T-Mobile's original Galaxy S, is 4" and has the exact same resolution (800x480, which @ 4" = 233ppi), which means it has a greater pixel density (PPI), and it ...
Summary: The Vibrant, T-Mobile's original Galaxy S, is 4" and has the exact same resolution (800x480, which @ 4" = 233ppi), which means it has a greater pixel density (PPI), and it doesn't have all that sharp of a display. So reducing sharpness by increasing size doesn't make for a good combination. It ends up making the icons look ridiculous on the home screen, since there's so much room between them, not to mention video and photos look pixelated. This phone is the definition of "let down".

Best Smartphone out today Bar None!
by Stiemroll on April 17, 2012
Pros: Driving Mode is AWESOME!Huge screen, speed, size and weight, usability, camera, video recording, etc. Battery life is also very passable....Did I mention Driving Mode is AMAZING?!
Cons: Tmo bloatware, even though I've gotten rid of it, it is a pain in the you know what.

Summary: I have had mostly every high-end Tmobile cell phone that's ever been created including the Cliq's, Vibrant, HTC's (from the Amaze down to their very first on Tmo)and there is not a phone even close to the greatness of this phone. I am blown away by the enormous vibrant screen on this beast. I can keep it at 40% and it's still vibrant! I would usually pump up my brightness to 85% minimum as I like brightness, but I don't need to with this beauty, which keeps my battery life averaging around a day (24hrs) with pretty consistent usage which is great for a smartphone. It's blazing fast, record 1080p video that looks stunning and the 8mp camera definitely does the job when you need good pics at a snap. The feature that adorns me the most (if you see my pro's I suppose you can guess lol) is the Driving Mode. I discovered it on a whim while looking for widgets to place on one of my screens. The voice recognition is above average at minimum. I don't have to yell or talk like a robot for it to understand me. I can do anything I want while driving and never have to touch the phone once the app is enabled. Text hands free, make phone calls, get navi directions, dictate a memo, play music...whatever you wanna do it's there for you.
Overall this is a great phone and I can see myself holding on to this for quite a while. Also, ICS is on the Horizon, as it was recently announced in Tmo's blog that the update is already in process to be released within the next month. I had the Vibrant for almost a year (the longest I've had a cell since smartphones came out) and I can see holding on to this for AT LEAST that long!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

AMAZING. I love this phone!!
by TonyGiap on April 5, 2012
Pros: SO Fast. Everything runs seemlessly. Good audio quality, good audio through speaker phone quality. great camera. and i know you heard of the Super AMOLED Plus screen, but let me tell you, it looks WAY better in person.
Cons: maybe Battery Life, but considering its 1850 mAh battery, to the HTC Amaze 1650. ill take it. will usually last me a day because i am constantly using it.

Honestly, I LOVE this phone. the BIG screen is so useful for browsing the web, and also apps. I use the Draw Something app alot, and the big screen is very useful when i draw on it. I love the user interface for it as well, i was able to take out "contacts" on the dock and put in voice talk. Ive also used the GPS system in my car and it works smooth and flawlessly. Truly amazed.

Summary: I may be the only one out there who doesn't want an iphone. But if you are techy like me, you will appreciate the openness of android. As a college student, my life is on my phone (and I'm not just talking social, all the homework is online now). So having a big screen that I can read PDFs and open Google docs with is fantastic. The size could be a major turn off for some people, but I think the pros majorly outweigh the cons. I upgraded from a Motorola Cliq XT and all of Motorola's false promises of software upgrades. I'm never going back. Starting off it was a little bit complicated, because it didn't particularly love my old micro SD card, but once I had time to sit down and reformat it it has since all worked beautifully. Call quality has been as good, if not better, than any of my previous phones. Great apps and widgets. Sticky notes and agendas really help me out, not to mention a proper google search bar on my home screen. The price at the moment is a bit of a killer, but I got it at Costco and got a pretty good deal on it. I've had it for a few months now and love it, even though the name of the cellphone game is that the moment you buy it it's outdated. The wifi calling capabilities are also handy. It can switch over for when your signal isn't that great (say at the dorm) and use the wifi. Though the 4g is a plus.

Great phone for the money which is saying something
by Alphadrow1121 on February 21, 2012
Pros: LARGE screen, fast 4g, WiFi calling, android apps, decent memory.
Cons: Battery life if you leave WiFi on all the time like I do.
Summary: Been using the phone for 3 mo and still finding new things to do with it. It does so much that a plane old phone doesn't.

A Great Phone!
by DJKirk001 on February 19, 2012
Pros: Very Fast, Great camera, Vibrant screen makes watching video a pleasure, Great voice command function, clear speaker phone,
Cons: Larger then most Android phones if your used to a smaller phone, Batt life could be better, non removable apps taking up space.
Summary: I am really enjoying this phone, it is bigger than I am used to but it is not a big problem. I love the screen, it has the best picture ...
Summary: I am really enjoying this phone, it is bigger than I am used to but it is not a big problem. I love the screen, it has the best picture quality I have seen on an Android phone and the video the camera shoots is amazing as are the pictures it takes..
This phone connects right up with the bluetooth in my girlfriends car without having to make any adjustments to the settings after it is set up for the first time and it works great with the bluetooth on our computer as well. When I am in my car I really appreciate the Voice Command functions and the ease of the voice dialing and navigation features so I can stay hands free. I like using the speaker phone option as well, it is very clear on both ends.
For entertainment web browsing is very fast and watching movies and clips is very enjoyable. The battery life still seems short, but that seems to be the norm for most phones like this. All in all this is the best phone I have had.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Beautiful phone; fast; O/S is still buggy
by MPerdueNYC on February 16, 2012
Pros: The look and feel is beautiful; the thinness is so easy to hold; it's like having a computer with you.
Cons: Android. Every Android phone I've used is weirdly buggy in a large number of areas. I.e., they say it doesn't matter that you can't exit programs, but it does. It sucks the battery and slows down the phone to the point that it doesn't function.
Summary: I've had a number of Android phones and I do not feel that any level of outstanding hardware design can compensate for Google's unfinished O/S. There are ...
Summary: I've had a number of Android phones and I do not feel that any level of outstanding hardware design can compensate for Google's unfinished O/S. There are too many bugs. It will drive you crazy wondering what next will happen. My phone routinely sends the same message 5 times to the same person. The battery is abysmal (I carry around a charger). I randomly can't edit emails while I am writing them (I can't get the cursor to the correct line). And on and on .... But kudos to Samsung, they did the best they could. The hardware and design is top notch.

It's a great buy and I'm glad I didn't get an Iphone.
by MrSammyblueyes on February 9, 2012
Pros: Great 4GLTE Speed,Great Screen Size,Best Purchase of the year,I wanted a Full HQ Experience an 4G Dependability assurance and got It with the Samsung Galaxy S 2. I Think it's the start of something big and worth your time to if you want a great phone
Cons: Smaller Rear Speaker, Pre Loaded non deletable Corp Apps galore, Needs more on board storage, That's about it.

Summary: Nice phone for anyone who wants or needs a great phone. FAST and Dependable! Virtually The best phone I saw out of 50 or so newer phones while looking for a new phone in December. I am happy with my investment and have had no problems with mine. Actually I race my friends phones and never lose on speed. It's off the charts. I enjoy the experience and feel of the phone. It's weight is perfect and it's size insures I'll never squint to see my favorite websites, or compromise speed for Quality steaming video. It's 1.5 GHz dual core processor is the best I've seen and I've seen them all! If your searching for a great phone and have a few bucks to put down on a phone, get this phone. At least I'll have someone to race and have some kind of competition in speed. Go Samsung. Well Done!

Summary: I was hoping this to be it.. the phone I've been waiting for. alot of good things about this phone. tmobile added 1 too many free apps. the bluetooth problem is the biggest drawbakc. if you turn on bluetooth for example it doesnt automatically connet to the bluetooth in my car, which I have read other people with the samsung galaxy S has had similar problem. ALL in all the phone's features are excellent and speech detection is very impressive.

Great Phone, but Minor Annoyances
by Cham94 on December 28, 2011
Pros: Bright Screen
Customizable yet speedy UI
Fast App Switching
Blazing Fast Data SpeedsCons: A Fair 8 MP Camera
The battery life wasn't as good as I expected
The 1.5 GHz Snapdragon was not the best choice ( I would have taken the Samsung with 21 MBpS Data Speeds)
There needs to be a larger integration with social networks (ie more widgets)1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
