The good: The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes fully loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4G LTE/HSPA+ 42 capability, a zippy dual-core processor, and a strong 8-megapixel camera. S Beam is an excellent software enhancement, and the handset's price is right.
The bad: The Galaxy S3's screen is too dim, and Samsung's Siri competitor, S Voice, disappointed.
The bottom line: Pumped with high-performing hardware and creative software features, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is an excellent, top-end phone that's neck and neck with the HTC One X.

Good-Bye iPhone. Hello Samsung
by LeeDowney on August 28, 2012
Pros: Amazing screen. Fast processor. Easy to hold. Battery lasts all day but it's nice to easily swap out a fresh battery when pulling an all-nighter.
Cons: None. Absolutely none.

Summary: I've been an iPhone user since June 2007. This was my first venture out from the iphone and I can't see myself ever going back. So what the 5 is going to have a 4" screen. I already have a 4.8" screen. Love this phone. $30 for a spare genuine Samsung spare battery. 32 GB Storage card. Free unlimited tethering. The list goes on and on and on.
Maybe it's AT&T but I leave the house in the morning fully charged at 7 am. Most nights after football practices I don't get home until 9 pm. I'm usually still at 30% or greater. I use the phone all day. Surf, text, about 60 minutes worth of calls. You may have a bad phone or it's just AT&T's network. That's why I left them and came to Verizon. Yeah, they are a little more expensive but well worth it.

An example of how far technology has come.
by troyrunlover on August 25, 2012
Pros: Visually appealing
Long battery life (T mobile Version)
Huge memory capacity (I have 80 gigs)
Large Screen but not too large.Cons: Not really a con but the phone is extremely glossy and can slip so get a cover before you buy the phone. Other than that not much to complain about unless your to lazy to go to settings and change the brightness.
Summary: I work in a cell phone store that sales all carriers. This phone definitely beats out the IPhone 4s, EVO, or any of it's competitors you can think of. ...
Summary: I work in a cell phone store that sales all carriers. This phone definitely beats out the IPhone 4s, EVO, or any of it's competitors you can think of. People walk into my store every day and ask "what's the best phone" just to hear me say the IPHONE derrr derr but I always pull this phone out my pocket and amaze them and they leave with one. I found something I really hated about the last 3 phones I have had (G1), (G2), (Iphone4), but I honestly cannot find anything wrong with this phone besides learning the new android software.

Great Phone but has its weaknesses

Summary: The phone is fast and responsive, takes great pictures, easy to navigate, and plenty of Samsung's cool little features like putting your phone to the ear while texting and it will automatically dial. I wish they didn't take away the universal search feature :(
My biggest complaint is in the quality. Compared to the GS1 and GS2, Samsung went really cheap. The phone feels flimsy and slippery in the hand. This is not just a feeling, it really is very fragile. Before I got my case I dropped the phone from 1 foot off the ground and right away the side got damaged and the screen cracked. The slimness of the phone doesn't matter because you need a strong case for this phone anyway, otherwise say bye-bye on the first fall.
I am on AT&T and the battery life is a little disappointing. It usually doesn't even last me a day. I will say I am in areas of bad service often, and use my phone for hours a day. But I used to do the same thing on my Atrix 4g and it lasted a little longer. With bigger screen comes less battery life I guess.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: The hardware on this for is great, but the software could have been better. I feel that HTC Sense's software is better than Samsung Touch wiz's software. Unfortunately I did not get the HTC ONE X due to the lack SD slot and exchangeable battery. If apps like photo editor and movie maker were blended into the stock gallery and camera app, that would make the phone better out of the box. The motion options and some of the other Samsung apps like My Story should work with all apps universally. Luckily it is running Android so I can easily customize it with other apps to satisfy my needs. If S-Voice was faster, I would give it a 5 star. Hopefully Samsung will release a update soon.

Fantastic smartphone! - on Verizon
by Hokie90Fan on July 17, 2012
Pros: Sizable display; Fast; User friendly; HD video; Camera is fantastic!; OS (Ice Cream); Excellent built-in apps that manage pictures and music; "Guided Tour" app explains everything!; Connecting to Windows is fast and seemless, like a flash drive!
Cons: A little slippery to hold; Power and volume buttons could be relocated; S Voice is aweful, but I'd rather have a conversation with a human; Was hoping to connect to a MAC Pro, but haven't been able to yet; Addictive!
Summary: Less than a week into Verizon's release of the S III, I can't be happier. Sure S Voice is laughable, but stick to the app's suggested script ...
Summary: Less than a week into Verizon's release of the S III, I can't be happier. Sure S Voice is laughable, but stick to the app's suggested script and you will be fine. Ice Cream interface is really user friendly coupled with the slick S III interface, but just in case, there is an app that explains anything you need to know about both, so really, there are no excuses if navigation is a problem.
Video is super clear and streams well.
Music payback is comparable to my iPod and the built in player is organized well.
I have experienced a problem with cell reception in one area that the Motorola Droid X was able to handle, but it is too early to tell if that is a greater problem.
I attempted a connection to my MAC Pro, followed instructions to a tee, but still cannot get the MAC to recognize the Android (not trying hard enough).
This is a great phone. The cons are not enough to prevent this phone from being the best Android phone on the market.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

The voice activation worked very well for me. The caveat only being your background must not be so loud to over power your speaking voice.
The camera burst features are really a bonus and ideal for anyone who takes lots of photos on the go!2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

It surprised me in a lot of ways.
by MrHumanAndroid on November 21, 2012
Pros: Good screen, good Operating System, fast and affordable.
Accessories very easy to obtain and cheap.
Biggest advantage is the limitless OS.Cons: There are no cons, just that there might be other devices that can do a little better than this one.
Summary: The reason for my rating is the following:
There are better devices (eg. the International Version Galaxy S3) which adds more CPU speed.

Pure speed.
by nmwheele on November 14, 2012
Pros: The screen has deep blacks, vibrant colors, good resolution.
The 16 GB is all on-board. (not 8 onboard, 8 on an SD card)
Apps open quickly and with no lag. Scrolling is very fluid.
2 GB ram allows a lot of programs to run at once.
4G LTECons: Very light.
Camera is good, but not great.
Might be too big for some.
Screen could be a bit brighter.Summary: Great phone. Definitely the fastest I've ever owned. This replaced my Droid 2.

4G LTE provides me with 12 MB/s down and up in my area. Definite improvement over 3G.
Applications load with no hesitation. Opens facebook in a second or less (from startup) and angry birds space within 3-4 seconds.
The screen is what you'd expect from an AMOLED (Active matrix organic Light Emitting Diode). Deep blacks and vibrant colors. The resolution is fully 720p HD capable. The only downside is that I wish it would get a bit brighter.
The camera is good for a cell phone camera, but there is room for improvement. 1080p recording is good, but indoor low-light shots leave a little something to be desired. Outdoor shots with ample lighting is where the camera shines (as with all cameras).
The OS works very well. Multitasking is effortless and open-applicaiton management is a breeze. Quietly awiating my update to 4.1 (Jellybean). It's a definite adjustment from Gingerbread, but one that I welcome.
The on-board storage has a full filesystem in place, as does the microSD card slot. A good bonus is that the 16 GB is fully on-board and the phone ships with the microSD card slot free. Some phones (including my old one) say 16, but what they really mean is 8 on-board with an 8 GB microSD card taking up the slot. Adding an extra 64 GB is only about $60, giving a total of 80. More than enough for my media collection.
Call quality is good, especially in my area which has a strong 4G signal. I haven't heard any complaints form anyone on the other end.
I picked mine up from Amazon for the price point of $99 with a contract extension. I think that's a steal for this beauty.
Very satisfied so far. I've had it for a month.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

3) Customizable
4) Widgets
5) Very easy to use and just awesome!!Cons: 1) Too big at times with case. Harder to carry around than my Iphone.
2) When hooked to a computer the folders were difficult to distinguish.
3) Lack of accessories available.Summary: Awesome phone and fairly user friendly. This phone might be a little overwhelming for a not so tech smart individual, but once you play with it enough and figure out ...
Summary: Awesome phone and fairly user friendly. This phone might be a little overwhelming for a not so tech smart individual, but once you play with it enough and figure out all the cool tricks you will absolutely love this phone. I have been an Iphone user since the 1st generation and was happy until the Iphone 5 launch. I must say that the im really happy that I chose the Galaxy S3 phone. I have no plans to go back to go back to the Iphone bandwagon anytime soon. If you choose this phone you WILL NOT regret it. AWESOME!!
