The good: The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes fully loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4G LTE/HSPA+ 42 capability, a zippy dual-core processor, and a strong 8-megapixel camera. S Beam is an excellent software enhancement, and the handset's price is right.
The bad: The Galaxy S3's screen is too dim, and Samsung's Siri competitor, S Voice, disappointed.
The bottom line: Pumped with high-performing hardware and creative software features, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is an excellent, top-end phone that's neck and neck with the HTC One X.

Summary: Had phones from all the OS's and its the best I have had. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star review is the battery life. It just won't make it 24 hours with normal use. I mitigate it by keeping an extra charger in my car. The bottom line with this phone is that anything another phone can do, this phone can probably do as well and probably do it better.

Summary: I had my Verizon S3 since July and I do really like it over my old Droid X. It is faster, better and larger display and the 4G connection is wonderful. I have gotten 20MB down and 10MB up on a good 4G connection which is better than home Comcast speed. I have a grandfather unlimited data, so I rarely use the WiFi since it chews up battery life faster than a 4G connection. Phone quality is excellent (Indiana). What I am really disapointed in, however, is S-voice. I don't really care about doing all the things that Siri does (or actually doesn't do). All I want to do is click my bluetooth earphone and say "call XYX" and have it tell me it found it and then call the number. My Droid X did that generally pretty well. S-Voice is slow and does a poor job. Most of time I never know it is working. Typical example: I have one address that is "home." There are other that have home in the title or in the connect somewhere. Instead of just going to "home" it gives me a list of all 8 it found, and does not read them off to me. It expects me to select one. The whole purpose of voice dialing when you are driving is not to have to look at the phone. I hope someone comes out with another app that just does calls. Thats all I need and bet everyone else does too. Voice recognition is via the connection so if it is slow, the time it takes to do something slows down too. Given the raw horse power in these knew phones I don't understand why they just can have an on phone voice recognition program like there are for PCs. The other negative is battery life. I do a good bit of email, phone and surfing along with reading a novel via the Kindle app. Typically by the evening I'll be in the 20-30% battery left range. We did a trip up to northern MI, and with the sparse coverage and having to drop to 3G, the battery was depleted even further. You can tell when you are really getting a drain, as the body will warm up. Look, these are not deal breakers because this is a beautiful phone and works very well in every other way. Just keep in mind that S-voice is not that good and battery life is something that you have to watch. BTW, the HD video is beauiful. Way better than my old Droid X.

Summary: Biggest thing was tht I dropped it ONCE ONCE ONCE, from my pocket (3ft) and the whole thing stopped working.. this as a week after buying it...bullsh!t ive dropped the iphone and other smart phones so many times and they never broke... but also
music player is so poorly created, to change a song you have to unlock the phone, go to the app, leave the current song and then pick a new song
Poor battery life... not even 3/4 of a day . light to medium usage: 1 2 mincall, replying/reading 10 texts an hour, check notifications for email and facebook as they apear, occasional lookup onlone
Autocorrect is a pain alot of the times, it seems to only remember a select few random words you use that are not in the dictionary, but others will never be learned, even after you write it over and over.
difficult to see screen in the sun, even when brightness is at its max3 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.

Love its adaptability, it really has everything I need.
by offerPop5351940 on July 16, 2012
Pros: Awesome image/video quality, excellent notification - power/connectivity area and options (I like it more than the one in Jelly Bean), navigation works perfectly, the sound is clear, touch response real-time fast, able to personalise everything...
Cons: I have a bug which has my phone displaying a sms notification even after I've read the new one, and the contacts syncing with the Outlook makes me have the same contact multiple times, though I'm not sure if that is to be attached to Outlook or S3.
Summary: It might be just my bad luck, having that issues, but I'm still intending to ask for substitution of this one with another galaxy s3, not another phone.

The switch from iPhone 4 to Galaxy S3 was simple
by sellphones2493 on August 5, 2012
Pros: It's gorgeous, expandable memory, great speaker, good reception, removable battery, quality feel to it, customization is endless, notification light (like Blackberry), uses microUSB charger, screen quality, size, easy to hold
Cons: Takes long to charge, only available in three colors (black?), S-Voice is a joke, Power Button placement (should be on top), can't adjust volume when phone is locked, too much bloatware, considering the price it should have a standard Memory Card
Summary: I went from being an avid Blackberry User, eventually to an iPhone user. After a year with my 4 32GB, I was tired of the reliability issues of the iPhone (...
Summary: I went from being an avid Blackberry User, eventually to an iPhone user. After a year with my 4 32GB, I was tired of the reliability issues of the iPhone (I was on my 4th warranty replacement), and I didn't like how the ONLY phone you see in these days is an iPhone. Ultimately, I used an upgrade and made the switch the Galaxy S3. It took about 2 hours to customize it to how I wanted it, and I haven't looked back. It's sleek, fast, and efficient. That being said, this is NOT the phone for someone who doesn't want to go through the hassle of customizing a phone. With this phone, the possibilities are endless and nothing is overlooked.
The thing that took some adjustment for me was the keyboard - the predictive text is different from the iPhone, and I don't think it is as good. That being said, they keyboard is large, and swype is a joy to work with.
My largest complaint seems to be that the phone takes forever to fully charge. I'm used to my iPhone which takes like 40 minutes to go from 5% to 100%, when this can take around 3 hours to do so. Additionally, the power button is misplaced - it should be at the top, not on the side. Another reason I bought the phone was because the memory is expandable via MicroSD Card. Like Blackberry, and other manufacturers, Samsung should have really included a standard memory card. I don't care if it's only 2GB - I'm buying a $200 phone (with upgrade) - thing's like that should be standard.
Ultimately, I've left Apple and I haven't looked back (however, I now need an iPod for my car auxiliary, and I still use a Mac). This smartphone has set the bar high for the iPhone 5, and I hope more people will make the switch to this device.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Superb upgrade from Galaxy Nexus - best Android phone!
by ha-evolution on July 27, 2012

Summary: Overall this is a great phone and worth the price they are asking for it. I was a bit worried upgrade from a Galaxy Nexus because the GS bootloader locked down but it turned out to be a non-issue. I can't think of a single significant area that this phone disappoints. Love the screen, processor, GPS, radio signal/strength, etc. etc. etc.
The screen is great quality and the size is awesome. The blacks are great as they are on most amoled screens. It does not have non-uniform screen defects the Galaxy Nexus had (most noticeable on grey screens). Not thrilled with the S3 screen in direct sunlight but this is probably a weakness of most smartphones.
The battery life is very good - I typically get over a day on it with moderate usage. Does better than the Galaxy Nexus with extended battery. Even using the GPS on this device does not drain the battery significantly compared to my previous android phones.
The GPS is amazing - usually gets a lock in a few seconds. I am still amazed at how quickly it gets a lock every time I use it.
One of the bonus features I was not aware of was that on Verizon this phone allows you to use 3G data while talking on the phone! I discovered this by accident and didn't even know that was possible. I know that in 4G areas this is a non-issue but I live in a 3G area so it's a big plus for me.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Better than the HTC One X, and everything else.
by biscuit44 on July 10, 2012
Pros: Call quality, speed, functionality, camera and ease of use set this phone apart.
Cons: Fingerprints - it's the only negative I could find and really, who's looking at the back of the phone?

Summary: I had the HTC One X for 2 weeks and returned it after software glitches and battery life made me realize it was not the cream of the crop. I had an HTC Evo for the past 2 years, loved it and am an admitted HTC fan. But the S3 is faster, more intuitive and had better battery life. Oh, and it works better as a PHONE. The call quality is simply better than the HTC. I could not be happier with this device.

Lousy reception!!
by destinpeters on October 9, 2012
Pros: Great screen, performance, thin, light for size.
Cons: Terrible radio. The reception is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than my Droid X2 (which seemed about average). Coordination between google maps and google navigation has been reduced, frustrating, tough to drop and share a pin.
Summary: 2 Stars because this is first and foremost a phone. The rest should be secondary. Bummer.

I like the new smart features like : the smart stay, smart alerts and the S voice, which is after update became better.
I like the soft physical buttons.Cons: Ugly design. The galaxy s2 looks better.
Quad-core CPU, but i don't feel any deference with the dual-core.
The back cover is too thin (can break easy).Summary: I am happy with my decision (i had to choose between the HTC one X and the Galaxy S3) thanks to the CNET reviews and articles.
