The good: The Samsung Replenish has a tactile QWERTY keyboard, a surprisingly decent camera, and a wallet-friendly price. Made from recycled and recyclable material, it's also easier on the planet.
The bad: The lack of Flash support in the browser limits the Replenish, and its build feels a little cheap. Both virtual and physical keyboards can feel cramped, and call quality could be better.
The bottom line: With a price tag of just $50, the Samsung Replenish offers good value as a basic, easy-to-use Android phone, and one that's environmentally conscious to boot.

Summary: I've been thru as of today 3 of these phones, all of them overheat, replacement batteries are difficult to get out of Sprint, Customer Service of 3rd party Sprint stores are beyond fail (gotta goto corporate store), Corporate stores says theres no recalls or anything on the phone so they replace it x3 and within 2 hours after I charged it (power off) within 10 mins of turning back on its overheating again!!! I find it Fail Fail Fail that Samsung has not fixed this problem yet or notified distributors of this problem so we can get them replaced with something that works and not turning our pockets into campsite (where's smores?)

Not Impressed
by kridder0 on May 18, 2011
Pros: "Green", solar charger
Cons: Battery life, Recharge time, Solar charger overheats battery

As the title suggests, though, I am not impressed. ...Summary: As a preface, let me advise that I have never before owned an "Android" smartphone (although I have owned another type)...
As the title suggests, though, I am not impressed. I purchased this as an "upgrade". I have never gotten an upgrade that was such a disappointment! The battery takes (easily) twice as long to charge as it does to discharge (with WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS all off). I am spending MOST of my day at work with the phone plugged in to the computer. I understand that the USB connection only supplies about half the amperage of the wall outlet, but I shouldn't have to plug in at all!!! Didn't have to plug in my other smartphone... Not impressed.
I purchased the solar cover for the phone. Fabulous concept! I was willing to overlook certain other foibles in exchange for being able to charge with light! Caveat in documentation indicates that it is TRULY a SOLAR panel and artificial light won't work. Another bit of disappointment, but, I thought I would try it anyway. I put the solar cover on the phone and left it on the window sill to see how well it worked. After fifteen minutes, the battery percentage went from 77% to 75% - full direct sunlight! I checked and all the radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G) were ON. I turned them all off and gained 1% charge in the next 10 minutes. Something that I would consider a MAJOR design flaw is the lack of insulation between the battery and the solar charger! Overheated battery won't charge! I guess if I am nowhere near an outlet, or I forgot a charging cord, I could use sunlight (in short increments) to charge enough for an emergency call, but,... overall, not impressed.
I loaded "Sprint ID" and downloaded a few apps and games to try, but before I could even TRY them, the phone indicated that it was OUT OF MEMORY! I couldn't BELIEVE it!! I had to stop and go to the "Manage Applications" area and move the downloaded apps to the SD card before I could do anything else! No warning about the phone being so severely UNDER-powered that you have to move apps immediately! But, if you are going to create a new 256 MegaByte phone in this day of GigaBytes, why not make it AUTOMATICALLY download straight to the SD card as a default? Especially if the "Sprint ID" is going to monopolize the memory! I have since removed all "Sprint ID" nonsense and moved everything, that can be moved, to the SD card. Phone is running better. Partly my fault, I have had other phones that needed things moved, but still wish there had been some "upfront" warning about memory.
My son upgraded to a different phone at the same time. He downloaded games, apps, and "Sprint ID" without problem. He was playing a game on his phone and I asked what the name of the game was so I could put it on MY phone (it was cool)! That is when I found out that this phone (Samsung Replenish) is not able to get all the apps and games that most other android phones can get! Nobody has been forthcoming with a reason "why" either!! I asked on the forum. Still waiting... Not impressed.
I have had the phone for 5 full days. I felt I should give it at least a week before making any "return" decisions. Maybe it will grow on me. If I find a reason to keep it, I may re-review it.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

So far, I love it!
by HolyJoe722 on May 17, 2011
Pros: Compact, light weight, sharp looking, easy to operate, it's NOT a Window$ or Apple OS, links to Google account seamlessly, uses standard MicroUSB cable (not the proprietary Samsung like so many of their older phones)
Cons: Smaller screen than most, keyboard cramped (but also has touch keyboard)
Summary: So far, I'm really liking this phone. I've only had it 1 week and I've never owned an Android phone. My previous phone was a Samsung Propel ...
Summary: So far, I'm really liking this phone. I've only had it 1 week and I've never owned an Android phone. My previous phone was a Samsung Propel Pro (Windows Mobile 6.x) and this new phone blows it away. The OS is fast and easy to navigate. There are so many free apps I don't see much of a need for the paid ones (although there are a few that are tempting!)
Battery life is decent when you download a power saving app (I use Juice Defender Free). The cool part about this Spring Smartphone: currently (May, 2011) they are waiving the Data Package for this phone, so you don't have to pay the extra monthly fee for an Android.
Once I've had more time to evaluate it, I'll repost, but for now, I don't have any serious complaints.
Giving it a 4.5 because of:
Camera is only 2.0 MP
Small screen
Slower processor (although I haven't had problems)
Flimsy battery cover that's hard to remove
Battery saver app should be standard with the phone2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Introductory Android, suffers from poor architecture.
by sonofnadd on June 27, 2011
Pros: Bright screen, good feedback/vibration. Good for a 3G. Excellent for calls. Volume is great (almost too loud @ max). Picture & camera are excellent. I'm not an App guy (I do my heavy lifting on PC) however droid App market is impressive & even win
Cons: Very poor architecture esp. when compared to iphone, windows mobile OS. Both keyboard & touchscreen keyboard are cramped. Android OS very unintuitive (this from somebody who has been using computers/hand held devices for decades.) Feels light. No batt
Summary: With proper support (which at the time seems to be lacking) would be a very solid introductory Android phone.
Android needs to put the amount of work they put on ...Summary: With proper support (which at the time seems to be lacking) would be a very solid introductory Android phone.
Android needs to put the amount of work they put on building app library into fixing their OS.
Both Sprint & Samsung need to continue support of this phone.
The eco-friendly aspect is a big plus.
However w/ a week left to decide on this phone I'm leaning to getting another.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

i reeeeeeaaally like this phone
by technophiletechnophobe on June 19, 2011
Pros: candybar style with physical keyboard, android 2.2,
Cons: battery life could be better, don't like the fact that it won't charge aftermarket batteries, no native led notifications for missed calls or messages, a bit large for my taste but i like the screen, signal strength is over all weaker than my centro

Summary: i am a walking contradiction when it comes to gadgets: i love them...but when it's time to upgrade or change, i hate them. this fact is what kept me hanging on by my finger nails to my palm treo 755 and then a centro until last month (don't laugh-the treo/centro is a GREAT phone that WORKS and met my needs). i had everything i needed on the palms i had: a touch screen, google maps for directions/gps like functionality, docs to go, custom ringers, facebook...you name it...i had it and you couldn't tell me i needed anything else...
enter my samsung replenish a few weeks ago...OMG...i love this phone...as a die hard palm customer, i have been bowled over with what i can do with this phone! the customization options are seemingly unending! (and i haven't even rooted my phone!). i suppose that this is more a comment on the android os but still, i really dig the phone. i'm not one who uses my phone for everything-i don't use it for listening to music (although i can with this phone since it has a 3.5 mm connector, a 32 gig expansion slot and music management software on it). i also don't watch movies or need flash. i do, however use the talking gps, and several very useful apps which i've downloaded including lightflow (solves the led issue, whoisit (allows me to customize ringers and ring profiles including one with a vip setting), photovault (keeps private pics private), dropbox, and an online backup program for my data.
things i like about the phone include the responsive touch screen and the screen size (it's small for some people but it's bigger than my centro and i don't need a mini laptop for a phone; the fact that i can drag and drop almost anything between the phone and my computer, the 3.5 mm headphone jack
(which is crystal clear); the fact that it's made from recycled and recyclable materials, the physical keyboard (call me oldschool but i like buttons to press); the fact that it was cheap (i paid $50 bucks for it because of an upgrade credit) and...of course...the fact that the additional $10 a month fee is waived for this phone! woohoo!
things i don't like include the fact that i had to spend money to be able to sync with outlook but it worked (companionlink and dejaoffice) and the fact thhat the battery life drains fast and charges slow. i tried to remedy this by buying aftermarket batteries on ebay (which-surprisingly-last longer than the namebrand battery) but samsung has (probably illegally) put some kind of proprietary coding on the phone to disallow it from charging at least some after market batteries.
overall, if you are not the kind of person who needs to feel like captain kirk on the bridge with your phone-meaning you need to feel like you need to be able to run your whole world with it, like me...i think this is a great phone...it does what it needs to do and plenty more. plus it's a great buy and it helps the environment in a small way...1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Sprint's 1st Android eco-phone w/ solar charge rocks
by richardc020 on June 11, 2011

Cons: no biggies: entry-level processor speed, QVGA screensize isn't EVO-big

Great for someone coming from a regular non-smartphone
by oregonziggy on March 18, 2012
Pros: step up from non-smartphone
Cons: None. This is typical of any low end smartphone. You get what you pay for.

You do get what you pay for. This phone really is for someone who had a regular phone and just wants something to text with easier. Check mail and do some Facebooking.
This is not a high end iPhone or Android phone. Like any purchase research needs to be done to make sure the device has the capabilities a person needs.
For example my girlfriend had a regular phone for several years. She got the Replenish and loves it.
She just wanted a full keyboard, way to get email and Facebook.
Processor speeds, screen resolution, memory are things she doesn't care about.
