The good: The uncluttered Samsung Transform Ultra has a pleasing design, a front-facing camera, and runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3. It also carries Mobile ID, which some people may appreciate.
The bad: As far as keyboards go, the Samsung Transform Ultra's is a little flat. Its camera quality is also pretty poor.
The bottom line: The Samsung Transform Ultra is a worthy QWERTY handset to join Boost Mobile's Android lineup. Mobile ID offers something different, but not everyone will want it.

Great prepaid phone!!!
by BabyNewt on February 3, 2012
Pros: Slide out QWERTY keyboard is solid and much more user friendly then the touch screen. I also find the touch screen to be much more responsive then previous models...very user friendly.
Cons: I haven't found any yet!

Summary: If you wanna go boostmobile, and wanna type on a physical keyboard, this is the one to go with. I only wish the screen was bigger and the battery life was longer, but I have these gripes with 90% of the phones out there. Best phone for the price, period.

Very good phone.
by warrhunt on November 1, 2011
Pros: Fast for its price range. The combination of a 1ghz snapdragon with a 3.5 screen allows this phone to perform task very well. There are many phones with a 1ghz snapdragon that have to push data to bigger screens which seems to tax the processor. I have no
Cons: The screen can be a tad to responsive. For instance I have to use my thumb to move icons around as using any other finger will cause the app to drop or open accidentally. Knit picking here but I wish the back cover was more solid less cheap feeling. I lik

Summary: This phone is not going to win any awards for new innovations. It does not have the biggest/best screen, the fastest cpu, or the thinnest design (although it is fairly thin for having a full pull out keyboard). But seriously that is not what people are looking for who go to Boost Mobile (yes it would be nice). What it is, is a good solid Android device that performs very well at a good price.

Poor support from Boost and Samsung
by noenigma on June 16, 2012
Pros: Android, small, works when it works.
Cons: Overheat problem, failure to repair, low quality camera and screen. Iffy reception. Sprint ID is kinda dumb.
Summary: Don't buy this phone. It fails with overheat, burnout, and poor support. I am sending it back a 3rd time in only 5 months.

There are a number of stories online about this phone overheating and ultimately failing to charge, the charge circuit burns out. I have sent it in twice, each time taking 10 days. It is overheating AGAIN. It seems it is manufactured with a defect which has not been fixed. One person claims he sent his back 8 times before switching to a different phone. Samsung support is okay but they use the slowest shipping possible and can take 4-5 days in repair. Boost did not offer a replacement and wanted to charge an extr $10 when I got the phone back, even though I had already paid the setup charge. Then they wanted to charge an extra $40 to setup a replacement phone I used as a temporary.
Do not use it as a business phone, you may not be able to take calls for extended periods. -

Good price; Responsive Android; Option for 32 GB Memory
by selftaught on March 24, 2012
Pros: Front-facing camera is a plus; can hold up to 32 GB SDHC card; Google Play Store has decent amount of apps; Qwerty keyboard easy to use; thin enough for back pocket; voice quality clear; WIFI capable; Bluetooth capable; MP3 player; camcorder.
Cons: Android screen too responsive at times; picture quality not the best; wifi has disappeared on my device and needed to be reserviced; doesn't always recognize certain apps and device needs to be rebooted; battery time is short; device overheats.

Summary: I bought the Samsung Ultra on Black Friday at half the price, what a deal, so I can't complain too much. But my WIFI has disappeared to my own home modem. Samsung told me to it may not accept my WPA2/PSK setttings and to switch to WEP instead. I don't think that's a fair option for them to decide. They then had me do a factory reset for the device. Annoying. I was also sent to Tier 2 because this complaint was not new to them and they were having more calls on it. After spending hours copying what I needed, then factory-resetting, my WIFI still didn't work, and the downtime for Samsung is up to 21 days for return. Everything else works but the point of an Android phone is to surf the net, have a quick time doing it and now I'm stuck with 3G and a phone that has to be reset. Beyond that, I won't have a phone until it's returned. What I'm unhappy about is their customer service attitude that it's my fault for using a higher level of privacy with the key and they "probably won't be able to fix it anyway". Hmmmmm.....I've had Samsung before and loved it, then a BlackBerry, now a Samsung again. I believe they should stand behind their products and not leave their customers holding a phone that doesn't work properly and say "too bad".
The phone works off of Boost Mobile, and they have tried to help, btw.
Otherwise, the screen is clear, voice sound is clear, music plays well, apps work well.
Picture quality isn't that good, but I didn't expect startling quality for camera like this.
Google is intrusive and I would recommend you check your privacy settings on the phone if you are concerned about that. Also, check your apps settings for privacy. This is one huge difference I have found with my last phone and now using this Android.
I've had the phone for for only 4 months before it starting having problems and for a phone that retails in the over $200 market, I'm surprised. I'm just waiting to see what the outcome will be.
I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone though after what I've been through-wifi disappearing; phone overheating and shutting down; high battery usage. I've had to carry two phones because of these problems now and seriously, what's the point of that?0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
