The good: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a slim, gorgeous build, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and 720p HD video capture.
The bad: Several buttons on the Xperia Arc are too small, and the unlocked price would be a prohibitively expense for most. Call quality was mediocre.
The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a beautiful handset with some great features, but a high price tag and no network optimization leave few reasons to buy this unlocked Android phone.

Very decent phone.
by Rich1232 on October 1, 2011
Pros: Not an iPhone
Cons: Nothing springs to mind.
Summary: Anyone else wonder about the pathetic reporting, where nobody thinks for a minute when Apple release overpriced products. However they are soon to call anyone else out... Pathetic.

Very nice, but not for the small businessman!
by rubygabbiyadan on November 19, 2011
Pros: Stylish;fast;feature-packed;large,clear display;good interface;somewhat more reasonably priced than others.
Cons: Oversensitive, quirky touchscreen;screen blacks out far too quickly;poor scheduling function;no voice command function.
Summary: A great device for kids and others who focus on entertainment features, but a failure (as usual) for serious business users.

PDA manufacturers have always focused on the entertainment aspect of their devices, since that's what brings in profits. They have been obsessed with memory expansion, increased speed, style and an increasing variety of media functions. Unfortunately, they have left us small businesspeople in the dust.
Where are the AI applications and voice command functions that could have - and should have - been developed and perfected as long as ten years ago? Business folks are also a part of the PDA community, buy we have been largely ignored.
Regarding the Experia Arc in particular, I am absolutely amazed that in the scheduling app, one has no way of editing a single event, which is part of a repeating series, without having the change appear in the entire series. This means, for example, that if I, as a private tutor, wish to change the date and/or content of such an event, I will have to first alter the event, erase the remaining events in the series, and then reinstall the remaining events in their original form. I have used more "primative" devices which indeed enable the editing of a single repeating event.
It is a sad testimony to the current trend of PDA development that the only PDA's I've ever had which sported fast, readable, fluid and user-friendly scheduling were the British-made Psion 3mx and 5mx, both produced in the early 1990's (they are still available on YouTube, but totally unsupported); I would gladly trade all the glitter and slickness of the Experia Arc for one of these.
Perhaps one day one or more of the PDA manufacturers will wake up and realize that PDA computing should be functional as well as enjoyable. -
I really enjoy my Arc- generally works great.
by Superdamncool on October 23, 2011
Pros: I like the design and look of the phone --very cool. Great camera and android gingerbread is well integrated into this phone.
Cons: Android updates not available over the air here in Singapore and must be upgraded via PC companion on windows. It should be made available on Macbooks too.
Internal memory is too small. Would be nice if it had front facing camera as well.Summary: Arc comes in only Dark blue and silver globally. In Japan, it has 4 colors including skyblue and sakura pink which is great.

Fantastic Camera
by notbugs on October 5, 2011
Pros: Great Camera that works perfect even in poor light conditions
Very durable despite what you might think considering the thin and sleek appearance. Have dropped it on the floor a bunch of times with no scratches or malfunction.
I live in Sweden but when iCons: A larger internal memory wouldn't hurt. Need more internal memory for all the apps that are out there waiting for me.

Summary: I'm extremely happy with the Xperia Arc even though it wasn't my first choice when i wanted a new smartphone. Was actually going for the Xperia Neo first, but then the Neo was delayed due to the earthquake in Japan and Sony Ericsson put the priority on the Arc which already had started shipping. So instead of the Neo i went ahead and got the more expensive Arc, a choice that i don't regret. After all it seems like the Neo isn't as good as the specs promise even though the hardware is more or less than identical to the Arc. Why it is like that i have no idea, i'm just happy that i got the Arc since it's the best portable device i've had so far.

Pros: Android is so simple to use.
Screen is incredibley clear.Cons: Battery life, but to be fair with the screen being so damn good it has to use energy from somewhere!

iPhone beater
by DeeEll on October 1, 2011
Pros: Screen amazing outdoors in sun - iPhone beater. Sexy shape looks like it's sculpted. Android interface superior to my HTC Desire S and iPhone 4.0. Open architecture means I can access my name and address list and it's not hidden in iTunes etc. The butto
Cons: Side USB socket is a pain for car mounting - iPhone socket at botton is ideal but removable battery is brilliant. HTC Desire has quick contact search from keypad - Sony Xperia Arc has contacts list like iPhone.
Summary: Eye candy and superb phone for half the price of an iPhone.

very good, fashion conscious phone
by abanglek on September 5, 2011
Pros: 1. android (for tinkerer)
2. very good sound quality (good hi-fi with little fun side, also good but bassy headset -good for bass-head)
3. bravia engine done their job great, video watching very joy & pleasing
4. great phone still camera, really appreCons: 1. android (not enough optimization from manufacturer, still lose to friendly environment ios, to open to software developer liking)

when the stock launcher quite good, i just throw it to give way to go launcher (to get benefit of folder in apps drawer, sound like ios, but this is the best way to organize). my arc now have very minimal ui with only 1 desktop (just minimal usable widget) & 1 page folded applications drawer. as well as flat color & transparent here & there. when i'm not hating ios, this is my biggest reasons to android, deep customization (after root privileged of course)
sound department, at last i can leave (but can't forget) my rockboxed sansa clip. use it with cheap but great soundmagic pl10 (great for instrumental). GREAT sound seperation. bass into fun side. when iphone4 have great & elegant sq, they lack of fun but arc have that. i think some fun give more enjoying for long duration music listening. overall very good sq & i even preferring arc than iphone (others? samsung, htc? i don't think so)
for conclusion, if you don't care about customization & want great support for your applications, just pick ios with iphone as also very good hardware. if you playtime with your os & customization more than your games playtime on your phone, you can consider this Arc. both intended to fashion conscious. but for great raw power but lack appearance, lg optimus 2x have good hardware overall. -
