The good: TurboTax 2007 introduces an Audit Risk Meter; integration with It'sDeductible to manage charitable contributions; Live Community support; improved interview.
The bad: TurboTax 2007 is pricier than TaxCut; transferring data from a prior return didn't work in one case; the Home & Business edition didn't make it clear we could enter personal income first; live tech support could be more extensive.
The bottom line: It's not perfect, but if you're brave enough to manage your own taxes, then TurboTax 2007 is Intuit's best tax application yet.

Watch out for recursive errors

Summary: I was planning to use Turbo-Tax (online version) this year, as I did last year. I was quite glad it handled all my new-home-purchase related details, but when I entered by 1099-R early distribution from IRA it flagged an error. However I was able to over-write the form and get past the error.
When I was about to e-file, after the payment processing, it did not allow me to e-file since there was a manual over-write. Now when I went back to remove my manual over-write, it threw me an error. So I was caught in this cycle of manual over-write Vs. unable to e-file. This happened after my payment was processed.
Also, from the Turbo-Tax online user community found that this was a known error for over two weeks (since then) and no known fixes available. I called up Turbo Tax and asked for a refund which they are still processing (4 weeks) and yet to receive. I went to HR Block - TAX Cut and I was able to provide the same information / e-file and obtained my fed / state tax refunds in 14 days.
In conclusion, I was not too bothered about the error. There are going to be some unique situations where the Software is going to fail. But unable to fix errors in time and not able to refund quickly are TWO Major -VE points for Turbo Tax.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

My opinion about TurboTax Home & Business software

Pros: May be quite useful for less complex tax returns
Cons: Errors, false alarms, forms missed to file, professional review not serious

Here's just one example (of many): I have never had INVESTMENTS, but here's what TurboTax "Professional Review" states: "You also had income from investments". I go to my TurboTax software under "Personal Income" and then click on "Investment Income". There's nothing. I did not even go there since I don't have any investments. So what I suspect that a TurboTax "professional" takes a more or less default text that applies to most people, edits it a bit and sends it to me. In my case he or she forgot the omit the investments statement that was used for someone else. There went my $50... To get more attention to my Tax Return TurboTax asks extra $65. Plus, there were false alarms (errors) that prevented me from filing my return last year and this year there are false errors again.

Waste of time and money.

Pros: Works well for the basics. However if you only wanted software for basic tax support, you would buy the cheaper versions such as Deluxe or Premier.
Cons: It does not work for complicated tax calculations. It took my 2 Fed K-1 forms and added 6 additional phantom K-1 forms for my state. It then would not allow me to delete the phantom K-1s and labeled them as "errors".
Summary: Intuit should either completely rebuild their Home and Business TurboTax product from scratch or kill it. This software is a waste of money and more importantly your time. Learn from ...

Summary: I have never before had a problem with TurboTax, but this year's edition has been an abomination. It refuses to import my txf file generated by Quicken Rental Property Manager (prior 2 years TTax did so without complaint), and it took nearly 6 hours to figure out how to load the software onto a Vista machine (poor compatibility out of the box). Future years I will likely use a different product.

I did the fed return 7 times and it was wrong every time. Only had one shot at the state and then they wanted me to BUY another down load, the down load I already paid for.
