Great Antivirus,But Other Things Found Wanting...

Nobody needs to give kaspersky a certificate for their detections and cleaning of anti-virus...but problems start right after it..
Even after repeated complaints kaspersky's new update servers corrupts virus signatures and the only solution they offer is Re-installing..
Anti-spy seems a good edition, but its anti-banner causes problems with many sites including Download.Com!
Anti-Hacker is good but not as efficient and tough as zonealarm or outpost...
Anti-Spam is the worst i have seen this year for any security suite, the only good option being previewing-emails!
What do you do with a anti-virus,if the signature-updates corrupt it from time to time...
There are plenty of bugs reported in their forum and they are hardly fixed...
Another shocker here is their forum-support!!!
I have heard a lot of it,but in real life experience i found it to be a myth!
The developers hardly ever come to the forum, and the only other thing they do is ask you for logs and then say"re-install it"!!!
Also its way to pricy with $80,for this!!12 out of 16 users found this user opinion helpful.

One thing needs to be mentioned that it has low memory usage which is ideal for any computer.Needs to be improved in certain areas such as interface,ad blocking, anti phising. The best security suite available !

Summary: I have tried about every security suite available and Kaspersky Internet Security tops them all by far. You get updated antivirus and antispyware signatures every 1-2 hours even on weekends. The firewall passes all leak and probe tests with flying colors. All modules of the program are able to be customized to your hearts delight. You can even set the program to e-mail you if a threat is discovered. Though a little more expensive than some others, it is worth every dime. Forget the rest, get the best, and relax knowing that your computer is fully protected.

Summary: I tried McAfee for a couple of years, then had trouble with them over rebates, so I switched to Norton for a couple of years. Always went with the "pro" recommendation, but was unhappy with both products. Did some research and found users liked Kaspersky. Tried it and it is everything I want. And the price, after rebate, is about right. I would give it a "10" but haven't had enough experience with it yet.

KIS OK, has Vista/Outlook 2007 issues
by FrontRange on March 21, 2007

Summary: Fist, the product works well for users using Windows XP and Office 2003 or older. However, there are glaring bugs when using the product with Vista and/or Outlook 2007.
In Vista the product currently prevents users from copying large amounts of files ~16,300. A significant issue that directly affects the basic functionality of the OS.
With Outlook 2007 using a PST file Kaspersky Internet Security fails to correctly close the PST file when messages are moved among folders, or when the SPAM identification buttons are used. When Outlook is opened it must check the PST file for errors. Another significant issue.
Kaspersky is slow to resolve these critical errors -- Kaspersky has been aware of both issues for well over a month. Additionally, support requests to Kaspersky Labs recieve this reply:
"Unfortunately, due to the high rate of customer requests to our technical support service, the response time to your request 308056278, received on 25.02.2007 21:21:38 will exceed 24 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Your request will be replied to as soon as is possible!"
At least they are being honest, I haven't heard ANYTHING from Kaspersky for close to three weeks. Thanks for keeping me informed and in the loop Kaspersky support!
Finally, many, many users on Kaspersky Labs are experiencing issues with very long boot times using the latest version of the product. Kaspersky has had a difficult time resolving this.
My ordeal with Kaspersky has been incredibly frustrating. The product while decent does not function correctly with the current OS and Office Microsoft has available. This, coupled with Kaspersky's extremely poor support results in an average score for the product.
I would recommend another company that has better support practices and effectively resolves issues with the product so it works correctly.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Anti Virus Scan is wayyy to long!

Summary: I bought this software after reading the good amount of reviews on it. After installing it, with no prob, I found that the firewall is not like any other. There is no logs that appear, to show if there is any intrusions being made. The software also slows down web surfing time, due to all the scanning it does.
It has slowed the use of my computer down to a point, where I had to say, enough is enough. I uninstalled it and installed NOD32 and a Comodo Firewall. Both work together flawlessly and very quickly.
KIS is good, but way too much for my new computer. Read the enclosed booklet, since it is a technical type software for all the settings needed.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Beats pants off Norton, McAfee, and PC-Cillin

Summary: The holy grail of Internet security seems to be an application that actually works well, but with a small footprint that does not slow down your computer. Norton's products fail on both counts -- I abandoned them after using them for more than a decade. But a broken down update system done it in -- plus it really did slow down our computers. Trend Micro's PC Cillin Internet Security seemed to work well -- it was the easiest to use. But last fall (2006) all of our computers started slowing down. Once PC-Cillin was removed, they all returned to normal speed. We tried the free trial of Kaspersky Internet Security 6 and were pretty much thrilled with it. It does a great job of protecting our computers while having no effect on speed. And Kaspersky's tech support is pretty darned good, based in the U.S., and they actually listen (a change I suggested was actually implemented in the latest update -- how rare). It's only fault is its anti-spam filtering which is a time consuming to use and not completely reliable. Too many false positives! Otherwise, Kaspersky is a gem, standing head and shoulders above its competition.

Many kinks to work out, NOT impressed. Get a good router and NOD32 and you'll be golden.

Pros: Great virus protection, easy to read interface, all in one package

Summary: I read many great reviews on Kaspersky's Internet Security Suite, so I gave the 30 day trial a chance. I was disappointed with McAfee which gave me the reason to hunt for something better. When I first installed Kaspersky on my computer, I had to reboot twice, then do an initial scan of my computer which took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Kaspersky's virus scan picked up 13 viruses (yes scary) that McAfee did not. So, I felt I had a nice reliable program that was not going to let me down. I was so wrong. From the first day I installed Kaspersky till the last day I took it off, I continuously got messages that programs needed to shut down including my Outlook Express. The most often, and continuous message was that the program Dr. Watson debugger experienced a problem and needed to close. So I would send my error report, and I would have another one pop up right after it. Dr. Watson is definitely not a program I want not operating correctly. This got to the point where I would get 10+ error messages in a row and then it would eventually lock up my computer. The only thing I could do to unfreeze it was to manually push the button to power down. A nightmare! So, here is what I did, and I am 100% satisfied with my resolution: 1. Bought a D-link wired router with NAT and SPI firewall. 2. Uninstalled Kaspersky (happily!) 3. Installed NOD32 anti-virus system. If you know computers, and you want top-notch security, a good router along with NOD32 is your best bet.
