Summary: I was looking forward to the Upgrade of Nero 8 having used Nero 6. The trouble started when I attempted to install Nero 8. It would not complete the installation. I attempted to install again with no success. However it did partially install. I then tried to remove Nero 8 from my system and and the uninstaller failed. I tried to start Internet Explorer to contact the company and it would not run.
Many other programs were inoperative at this point. Quicktime and Itunes would not run. I then tried to reboot my system and upon Windows restart, and error message appeared that an uninstaller program was inoperative. I tried using Restore to go back to my system prior to loading Nero 8 and that program would not run.
Next, I spent 3 hours removing any reference to Nero and Ahead Software from my registry. Upon rebooting my system, the uninstaller message still appeared. So, I used Restore again and this time was successful.

Summary: To start, I only use Nero to edit and burn video captured from a Camcorder, so can't comment on any of the other functionality included in Nero 8 Ultra.

I recently purchased a Canon HF10, high definition camcorder, which records in a .m2ts format. The camera is great, the software that came bundled with the camera, ImageMixer 3 SE is worthless. ImageMixer supports the AVCHD format(.m2ts files), but doesn't even have a user manual! In addition you can't save the .m2ts file into another format, and it doesn't support the burning of DVD's onto DVD+RW format.

So after downloading Adobe Premiere Elements 4, and finding out that Adobe doesn't handle AVCHD (Adobe sees the .m2ts files as audio only), I finally landed on Nero 8. In just a few minutes I was able to import my HD video, add in transitions, audio tracks, video effects, etc, and burn the content to a DVD+RW which played flawlessly on a $70 Philips 1080p upconverting DVD player. For an additional $29 add-on, Nero also allows you to burn the video onto Blu-Ray discs for true high definition display (assuming you have a Blu-Ray player.)

Nero 8 was also very easy to use once you figure out which of the many many options you need to choose from (there are 16 entries in the start menu) for the activities you want to complete. Nero made it very easy to complete the edit, save the project, add a title menu, and complete the burn.

So far I have not had any issues with this product...the download was quick and painless as was the installation.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Nero 8 if you have a HD camcorder that records in AVCHD (.m2ts).
