Summary: until cnet does there editor reviews i think you should try it first and dont knock it down you guys are not experts. many corp networks use this and so does my company and i myself use it at home
...and just as I figured none of you have any relevant reviews as you all have only 1-3 posts. I may only have 1 post so far but I thought I would sign up and give it a try just like I have with this software. The only intelligent post so far was the other guy who mentioned there has not been a lot of testing done in different situations. The rest of you guys don't even know what you are talking about this is one of the lightest apps using 84% less memory resources than the previous version and is under ~20MB which is half what NOD32 uses and its one of the lightest on the market.

CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by prhayes7 on March 16, 2010
Pros: Nothing at all
Cons: I work in desktop support and I have user's constantly taking their laptops home and comming back with viruses. Granted for some stupid reason they all have admin rights and we are still on XP. I haven't seen SEP 11 block one attack.
Summary: Bottom line is to not even consider this product. Go with Trend Micro!!

Frustrating at best

Pros: Have had no pros with this software
Cons: Memory hog !!!!!!. Tech support is in-effective. live-update does not push out to client stations on a consistant basis. Was difficult to install in server environment.

Strong and simple
by JudoCow on December 15, 2009
Pros: Fast, intuitive, clean install to Windows 7 (with newest release), discreet, powerful, catches viruses before they can do any damage, doesn't slow down my computer, updates discreetly and automatically as well
Cons: None thus far
Summary: I have to agree with Valnomien as well. I've been using this software for year or so now from my company, and so far I have not had one ...
Summary: I have to agree with Valnomien as well. I've been using this software for year or so now from my company, and so far I have not had one issue with viruses or security. Although earlier versions of Norton were memory hogs, this one runs much lighter than the other antivirus/firewall combos I've tried. I'd argue this corporate version offered by Symantec does a great job regardless of the reputation the other products by Norton might have.

Simply awful

Summary: Have had this for a year and am not at all impressed. While the central management features are nice, SEP is terrible at what is supposed to be its main feature: preventing and removing viruses. Even relatively old threats like Vundo have had a field day against my systems, and SEP can do nothing to keep them off or remove them once they're on. In some cases I have even found SEP completely disabled by the virus. My standard procedure now is to clean viruses off by installing Avast. It seems to handle just about anything I throw at it.
In addition, all of SEP's various processes (LiveUpdate, the virus scan process, and the GUI) can consume up to 100MB of virtual memory. On older systems that still have 512MB of RAM, this really hurts performance even more than it already was. -
Small Businesses Stay Away

Pros: I give SEP A++ for its management capabilities, its the best thing out there.
Cons: Failed to detect numerous keyloggers, trojans, and rootkits.

Summary: I started with SEP with theri Management Release1 (MR1) and terminated them at MR4MP2. I lived with them through all the hells it was giving me. I decided to be patient with them, in hopes that they update most virus definitions. After it failed to detect numberous rootkits, adwares, trojans, and keyloggers, that ESET online scanner detected. I finally gave up and swithed to ESET NOD32 Business Edition. Immediately after the switch, nearly 50% became my good friend, they all called to find out what I did to speed up their computers. It is true that ESET admin console is hard to configure, but ESET does things what your security software is suppose to do, which is to detect all malware out there. It does not surprise me that ESET has the best record on Virus Bulleting and the best record on AV comparatives not mention its awards for being the best proactive av detector. Sorry Symantec try harder, especially in these days where nearly all IT departments are shorthanded, no one has time deal with your bloatware that won't detect most of the malware. Try harder please, I really want to add to the revenue of American Company instead of ESET, a Slovanian based company.
Some other may argue and say that SEP is has application and device control and all that. I think its kind of useless in coporate environment if you want to reduces your helpdesk calls. On top of that Eset has the same features as well, with a lot less stress on system resources.
The only place SEP shines is on AV-TEST.org. However, when I look their statistical data, it all looks the same eveyday. AV-TEST.org also the tests for Pcmagazine, which is probably the reason PCMAG gave Editor's choice for SEP when it was just being released. The evidence is verty clear, AV-TEST.org is well sponsored by Symantec.
Bottom line .. Avoid Symantec Endpoint Protection. It fails to do what it is suppose to do, which is to detect malwares. -

Summary: I hate this crappy software. My system admistrator installed this junk and now my computer stalls and frequently hangs. I mean, we're talking 5 second click lags on my mouse. The problem seems to be that the arrogant pricks that wrote this stuff set it up to always have the highest priority of any process. Downloading a file when the bloodhound starts? Too bad, 20 seconds later you can start the download over. Trying to save a document file when a scan starts? Too bad, maybe you can save it later when your screen finally updates again.
It used to be worse before we spent an hour at Symantec tech support, not free mind you, which I think is the fundamental design philosophy of this junk--make pay to turn off all the crap that they paid extra for that doesn't work anyway.
Well, I donated $100 to the ClamAV project. It made me feel much better -
Disappointment from Symantec yet again

Pros: Looks cool!
Cons: Resource hog; crashes server almost consistently on all networks; expects "user to reboot server" according to the "work arounds"

Summary: This software is the most disappointing software ever released by symantec. It crashed more than 70% of my client servers and their work arounds are ridiculous. My favorite is "if server goes un-responsive, have USER reboot the server"! Wow. Okay,
Trend Micro 7.0 please.
My company has been a Symantec Parter for years and now we have switched to Trend completely and plan to "upgrade" all our clients to a better corporate AV software system that does one thing that it's supposed to do - catch viruses and not become a virus itself. -
