Very Nice..Kinda Bare Boned Though
by shakethebabyass on May 13, 2009
Pros: Installation: Very Easy, No Problems at all. Fast.
Uninstallation: Simple, few reg keys left but nothing major.
Interface: Very nice looking and easy
Easibility: Average user would have no problem
Features: No optimizers, backup
Support: ok.Cons: Lack of features. This is great for the price but if you are in need of system optimizer tools get pro version.
Sometimes it loads slowly. RARELY.Summary: Recommend for average users with self computer maintaining knowledge that needs virus and malwayre protection.

Excellent product, easy to install, not a system hog.
by RV_mom on April 20, 2009
Pros: Used Trend Micro on my Dell (win XP Pro) and my HP (Vista). Works efficiently in the background, does not annoy with constant popups like some other antivirus programs. Is not a system hog, even when running scans. Downloads updates automatically.
Cons: System scan is a bit slow, but it's a full scan and I'd rather have a full, slow scan than a fast one that may miss things.
Summary: While I am constantly on the internet (usually between 8 and 15 hours a day, depending on whether I'm working outside the home or not), I am probably not ...
Summary: While I am constantly on the internet (usually between 8 and 15 hours a day, depending on whether I'm working outside the home or not), I am probably not a typical user. By this I mean, my downloads are limited to photos from family and friends and games from sites like Pogo and Yahoo. I play MySpace and Facebook apps. I have a wifi connection for six months a year and an air card the other six months of the year. (My house has wheels!) I do not download any music, games from sites I don't know, or porn. I don't open emails from unrecognized senders. My email provider is online, so all emails are scanned before I get them. All of that being said, I am still online for several hours each day and so am probably almost as subject to viruses and trojans as just about anyone else out there.
I have used Trend Micro for years. I like how they operate, silently and in the background. They're not a resource hound and they don't mess with the operation of my computer. I have tried (years ago, I will admit) Norton and McAfee and Zone Alarm - all of which annoyed me with constant popups asking them what to do. Geez, do your job, already! I never had a problem printing from any webpage, but I haven't tried that recently, with the latest version, so I can't speak to that difficulty as mentioned by another reviewer. I do save web pages after purchases, so that I have a reference and have been able to print those web pages.
Updates are done automatically, as soon as the updates are available. Other antivirus programs did updates daily or weekly. I may get two or three updates from Trend Micro in a single day, in the background, requiring no input from me; that tells me that my antivirus protection is constantly up to date. Recently I have learned that TM and other antivirus software do not protect against various IM machines (Yahoo messenger, etc). That is a concern for me, but again, I don't read messages from people not on my list. I am not sure I'm willing to try McAfee again and I haven't read anything that says Norton is no longer a system hog.
I hope this has been helpful.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Unable to actually buy...
by gudlite on April 15, 2009
Pros: Used it for 4 years and never once had a virus.
Cons: They double charged me two years in a row. This year they wouldn't activate the product until i paid for again (a third time). Buying this product is not easy and trying to get service/support is impossable
Summary: Don't bother. They will just make a mess of everything

What a rip-off
by 51alien on April 14, 2009
Pros: Nothing much comes to mind
Cons: Bought this with a $40 rebate that they will not honor. Don't waste your money, and don't expect them to honor any rebates. It doesn't do a very good job of anything.
Summary: Trend removes spyware pretty well, but it lets a lot of it through. There is virtually no pop-up blocker, I reloaded Stopzilla because theirs is so much better. Trend also ...
Summary: Trend removes spyware pretty well, but it lets a lot of it through. There is virtually no pop-up blocker, I reloaded Stopzilla because theirs is so much better. Trend also does not even alert you if someone sneaks onto your network. There are major gaps here, I can't believe I spent the $ for this. I thought I was getting a large amount of it back in a rebate, but they refuse to honor it. Don't buy this product.

Terrible tech support!
by justifiy on April 13, 2009
Pros: NONE! nothing good about them
Cons: I have Vista, and other anti-virus programs on my lap top. Trend Micro is not compatable with anything. Nor are they willing to even help. When I asked for a refund, after 2 months of phone calles and emails I was denied the refund!!!

Summary: I have had trend micro for 2 years on my computer, with out problems. Went to re-up for the 3rd year and I now have had nothing but issues. To the point where I was told by some barely speaking english person that I have to delete all my other ant-virus programs so they my put the trend micro on.. First of all it ahould have never left, I was just re-upping a trend micro I already had. Second why in the heck would I delete the working Ant-Virus software from my system, to leave me completely unprotected!
After 30 or so emails, back and fourth, hours of wasted phone time.... I requested a refund, after a 7 day period and several more wasted emails and phone time and was denied!! Do not get trend micro!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Much better than Norton
by MyComputerGirl on April 3, 2009
Pros: Easy install and configuration. Seems to take less to run. Great spam program.
Cons: Had 1 issue but was quickly resolved through TrendMicro Tech support. It seem to have an issue with the auto update hung in a look and Windows Security Center but they sent patch to fix it.
Summary: I have switch most of my clients to TrendMicro or suggested it as a solution. I love the Server editions, they are clean and simple and don't take over ...

Repeated problems with updates on XP Home Edition
by dthurney on March 31, 2009
Pros: Easy to use - easy to uninstall - parental controls can be customized
Cons: Repeated errors can't update anti-virus definitions even when I am connected to the internet successfully. Attempts to use Internet Explorer proxy settings whether or not you actually use Internet Explorer.
Summary: No help posted for proxy errors being thrown for Internet Security 2009. Debug tool to clear previous downloaded files is obscure and doesn't solve the problem. Updates don't ...

No problems. Great for Vista Home
by Crom70 on March 28, 2009
Pros: I have never had to worry about Virus protection with product. Kaspersky caused blue screens and Bitdefender worked...when it wanted to. For hands off protection, good tool.
Cons: Seems to be heavier on system resources than other like tools. I'm ok with that though since I don't have to worry about crashes and non-working applications.
Summary: No problems. Works for me...

Very good at protecting my Win XP desktop at home.
by scrabbleroad on March 7, 2009
Pros: For the money a very good product, very good at reconizing and purging malware threats.
Cons: However on my laptop with Vista Home premium it does interfere with some programs, especially Windows Media and my favorite WinAmp. Also I have not been able to setup an exception list that Trend Micro will actually follow.
