The down-firing design of this Klipsch Subwoofer provides more "room-filling" bass. The high output subwoofer driver effectively couples, or grips, room air, dispersing the low frequency energy consistently throughout the room. This augments the haptic sensation and "feeling, " ensuring powerful bass performance. Santoprene rubber surround with fiber-composite cone delivers extended bass response and maximum reliability. Summary: I bought this sub as part of a Quintet satelite package. It was my first ever powered sub in my home so I wasn't exctly sure what to expect from the sound. I connected it to my Yamaha HTR-5630 via LFE connection. Out of the box it was so quiet that it was inaudible unless I cut power to the main speakers. I tried speaker line connections & had the smae problem. I brought it in for repair & found that the speaker had been blown. (???) After repair, it sounded great... for a few days, when the same problem happened again. I certainly am not over working the sub (as far as I know) so I can not explain why someone with the reputation that Klipsch has would put out a product that has such problems. I'm in the process of returning the item to request a replacement.

Summary: I have this sub paired with the Quintet Microsystem for my home theatre/audio system. I had to move it several times and tweak the settings (on the sub and from the receiver) but when I found the right combination it sounds great. Good low end audio without distortion and it will knock you out with it's punch if that's what trips your trigger.
Pros: It's loud, first of all. I love the lowpass adjustment so you don't need a volume knob. I have had no hiccups with the thing at all, and nor has my dad.
Cons: The Auto-on sensitivity should be adjustable. It's very easy, though, to flick the switch to "ON"

Summary: This thing has been in business for almost 7 years and it's still pumping. It's been on the same Sony amp for this entire time, as well. It's now on a Denon, but even though my Denon does not have a LFE out (it's only a subwoofer pre-out), this sub still sounds great.
Cons: Unit is now dead. LED indicator never worked even out of the box. Checked fuse- not blown. Amp is working.

Summary: I hooked this up in August to a new surround sound system. Driven by a Sony STR DG 820. Initially sounded great. Not exactly sure when it went dead because we only use it for movies in the basement and I may only watch a couple of movies a month. Installed the unit in August '08 and now dead less than 5 months later. No way it was over worked- only used for movies and not too loud. A simple electro-mechanical device like a subwoofer should be very reliable in this day and age. Judging from early postings- some going back to 1999 this seems to be a problem with this model. I will get the Polk 110 model instead that will match my ceiling speakers anyway.

Summary: Bought it, blew it... repaired it and blew it. the OEM voice coil is about the weakest i have seen. So i kept the box, went to a car audio store and bought an Alipne Type R 10 DVC. the alpine wooffer quality is miles above the Klipsch stock. The alpine woofer requires a bit more space, so you have to mount it firing inwards, toss in a nice CD with lots of Bass, or a 80hz test tone for a half our at a time to break it in... and you will be amazed. SPL is way up, as well as the sound qulaity. 1 note, MAKE SURE you attach the dual voice coils in SERIES, not Parallel. in series you will have 8 ohms impedence, where as parallel will only have 2 ohms... if you run an amp rated at 8 ohms on a 2 ohm sub, you will draw 4x the curent. ( I.E, a 150 watt amp rated at 8 ohms will put out 600 watts at 2 ohms. this much current will create too much heat and burn out the amp) I reccomend this to everybody. it's a good box, it just needs a good speaker.
Summary: After using some JBL's that wouldn't cut it, I am pleased that I made this purchase. It's a very good sub that packs a lot of punch. Believe me you won't regret getting this sub

Summary: This sub has never failed me. for only being a 10, it sounds like a boston or polk 12. Remember, a sub is the most important addition to any home theater, and this one is excellent.
Summary: I've had this sub for about a year now. It has done nothing but impress me. You don't need a "room shaker" when you've got this sub hooked up to your system.

Summary: I returned my KSW 10 (it kept blowing fuses hooked to a Sony STR-DB940 110w) I thought the sound was good, until I hooked up the KSW 12! SPEND THE MONEY - GET THE 12"! It compliment the Quintette much better than the 10" - I will say this about the KSW 10: It sounds much better than the 8-10" Polk subs I've heard.
IT was so good, I bought a second to compliment it.

Pros: Easy to use and set-up. I found that using both L&R inputs makes the sound a lot 'better' than using the single (L) input only. I use Response 3's as my main (front) pair, and thought I'd never need any more bottom end, but these little buggers prov
