2010 Honda Pilot Touring price range: $37,045.00
- Reviewed by: Wayne Cunningham

The good: The rear-seat entertainment system in the 2010 Honda Pilot allows for many different sources, and the audio system produces surprisingly distinct and strong sound. iPod integration is standard, and comes with a very usable onscreen interface.
The bad: The interface for cabin electronics suffers from too many buttons. Fuel economy from the 3.5-liter V-6 could be better.
The bottom line: The 2010 Honda Pilot provides room and entertainment for many passengers, but its cabin tech isn't of the highest caliber and innovative engine technologies don't deliver on their promise of increased fuel economy.

A great ride with plenty of room, and good gas mileage
by meridian441 on December 14, 2009
Pros: This truck feels comfortable in the city and on the highway. Pop in a CD or tune in a satellite radio station and it's a joy to drive. It has ample power for towing a boat, or taking an extended road trip with four adults and luggage.
Cons: The voice command and navigation system use different buttons, but you get used to it. The cup holders in the front center console are not as accessible as they could be, as they are hidden under a retractable cover.

Summary: I recently took a trip from Chicago to Shreveport, LA. I was very impressed with the ride and handling. There was plenty of room for four adults and luggage, the wife's neck pillow and my sister's favorite blanket. The sound system is fantastic and the rear entertainment system worked flawlessly. The gas mileage actually increased as the trip progressed. We ended up averaging nearly 24mpg, and the average highway speed with cruise control was 76mph. The navigation system took us from my home in Chicago to a backwoods location in a small, unincorporated town 40 minutes outside of Shreveport without a hitch. The climate control system is divided between the driver, passenger and rear passenger areas, giving each zone maximum temperature flexibility. All the controls are placed just where they should be, and it is clear that the Honda engineers worked hard to get this vehicle right. My friends are impressed with the heated leather seats and the rear passenger sunscreens. Over all, the Pilot is a joy to drive, gets decent gas economy for a SUV, looks great and it's a Honda, so I know I will have it for a long time. It's not perfect (the oil dipstick is located in an awkward position), but it's as close to perfection as any vehicle I've had.

Summary: I have driven Honda's since 1985. I never had to worry; they were sound, reliable, great fit and finish. I bought a 2010 Pilot 6 months ago and have had it in the shop 6 times...faulty sunroof, faulty electrical system, door doesn't open properly, rattles, etc...Interior is screaming cheap, hard plastic. I will buy American next time. Sad to see Honda cut corners and make an inferior product after owning them for 25 years. My daughter's 1994 Accord has 280k and won't quit. My 2005 Pilot started with major problems at 100k. What has happened to Honda????

The 2010 Pilot is a Disaster
by teencounselor on June 17, 2010
Pros: Roomy, eight seats, Third row that can actually be used.
Cons: Gas mileage is awful, noisy cabin, creaking sound coming from the center counsel area, rides rougher than my 2007 pilot, to much plastic in the cabin area, pulls to the right, he V6 engine does not have enough power for this vehicle

Summary: Wow, I have had such a bad experience with this vehicle and the Honda dealerships. I first bought this vehicle and it was missing parts in the front and back of the vehicle. I was not told this until after I purchased the car as it was the only color in stock". . I noticed some scratches on the back plastic and then after buying the vehicle small scratches on the front console area. I immediately called the dealer and after looking at the vehicle they decided to put me in another new 2010 Honda Pilot. I picked this vehicle up 2 weeks later, the alignment was off the car moved to the right, and it took 4 visits to correct the problem. Then I noticed a creaking sound from the front console area that would not go away. They finally tracked it down to the floor panel creaking due to a poor spot weld. 5 trips later and having a Honda rep involved the creaking is still present, although minimized. The dealership would not pay for a rental vehicle so I was on my own. The Service Manager was very rude and made me feel that it was my fault that the vehicle had a defect in manufacturing. What a terrible experience. I will not buy Honda again......

Comfort, convenience, great trip vehicle
by tom34491 on June 12, 2010
Pros: Getting 21 mpg hwy even with 10% ethanol and 4wd, most bang for the buck for features. Seating is the best in this class maybe the best period. I noticed even though C&Ds long term test rated average staffers used this car the most themselves.
Cons: So far, nothing! I traded a 2007 Pilot for my 2011 and never had a repair in 45000 miles. Not even a warranty claim.

Weak brakes & engine.Wish I had my 2006 Pilot back now.
by 300zr1 on March 21, 2010
Pros: Seating trim is okay but leather is thin next to my Audi's . Plenty of space, trailer hitch came with it!
Cons: My 2006 Pilot was soooo much better, it didn't take 10 seconds to sixty and stopping from sixty was MUCH shorter than the very long 150 feet, my GOD. I wanted to like this ugly SUV belt buckle grill and all but trust me it drives worse than it looks.
Summary: I think I've made my point in the PROS: and CONS: Honda gives the V6 Accord 10 more HP and it's 1000 lbs. less, WHY?

The cylinder drop out is a joke on this SUV, I get 15 MPG's on a good day in town and the best Highway so far is 19 MPG,
the gear box is ALWAYS hunting for a lower gear and if you need to move it drops 2 or 3 shifts only to make lots of engine noise before she starts moving. NEVER take a chance because you'll loose. -
2010 Pilot is a homerun
by raalbrakin on November 1, 2009
Pros: Interior is very roomy and luxurious. This car pampers me and is capable of hauling when I need to haul large loads.
Cons: Not much. Wish for better fuel economy but all else is first rate.

Summary: After much investigation, I purchased a 2010 Honda Pilot Touring with all the bells and whistles. It is wonderful! The navigation, bluetooth, handsfree car controls, handsfree information is all what they say it is. It is amazing. The room in the back is awesome! The ability to lay the seats flat is quick and easy, as well as bringing them back up. To install the baby seat is quick. I love this car!!!!

Bank Vault Solid Vehicle
by max_zorin on August 20, 2009
Pros: -Highest Level of Safety
-Very good handling for a large vehicle
-Huge interior space
-Third row that can actually be used
-Note that instead of focussing on fuel economy, a person should focus on total cost of ownershipCons: -Manual is confusing.

Summary: Generally car reviewers will focus on one thing and say it is poor or good. For example in this review the reviewer says vehicle has poor fuel economy. That is an uninformed statement. This vehicle weighs 4500 lbs, carries 8 people + baggage. On a per person basis, the fuel economy is very good. The only thing that really matters is total cost of ownerhip.
When it comes to total value = handling, space, power, features, total cost of ownership this suv is unbeatable. I would challenge anyone to comeup with any vehicle that excels overall the way honda pilot does. -
Very unhappy with the 2010. 2006 pilot was much better.
by mansask on February 11, 2010
Pros: When i upgraded i liked the dual climate controls, rear hatch auto close.
Cons: Almost to many to name. New navigation system is awkward and more difficult to use. Cannot see the radio display when driving in the daylight, However they changed the dash it always looks dirty and traps every bit of lint and dust.

Summary: It seems that common sense was not employed when designing this vechicle. If you pick up your coffee cup the wrong way you can hit the shift lever from drive to neutral. The fabric on the back of the seats is finer. Looks nice but takes three times longer to vacuum. The variable cylinder management system surges noticeably when you give it gas quickly. I took it to a Honda dealer who said thats the way it is and i should live with it. The storage compartment is awkward since the sliding door only goes back so far and any items you put at the back of the compartment are very difficult to reach. Sad to say i never expected this from Honda. I hardly ever see used pilots. I predict that this is going to change.
There are two other new pilot owners in our park. They both are unimpressed.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
