- As tested, our 2.4-liter 2011 Kia Sorento EX is a pretty good value, with lots of space, acceptable performance, and a surprisingly good array of cabin technology; the 3.5-liter V-6 model has more power and a few more cabin niceties.

2011 Kia Sorento EX FWD price range: $24,595.00

The good: The Kia Sorento features attractive styling and decent performance, even with its 2.4-liter engine. Bluetooth, USB, and iPod connectivity are all standard. The optional navigation system with real-time traffic is a low-priced steal. Available fold-flat third-row seating and all-wheel drive greatly increase the flexibility of this CUV.
The bad: Firmer suspension tuning contributes to increased levels of road noise. The Infinity-branded premium audio system doesn't sound very premium to our ears.
The bottom line: As tested, our 2.4-liter 2011 Kia Sorento EX is a pretty good value, with lots of space, acceptable performance, and a surprisingly good array of cabin technology; the 3.5-liter V-6 model has more power and a few more cabin niceties.

Excellent value.
by shahini on May 21, 2011
Pros: Great looking, tons of standard features , very reliable, great handling, great highway mileage, usable third row seats, best warranty.
Cons: Standard sound is poor...Standard Head Unit is actually very good, but you have to change the paper speakers to get what the head unit can really deliver.
Summary: This medium sized SUV does actually deliver 29-30 MPG on the highway. I've taken it on a couple long road trips and have been able to get 450 miles ...

I want to give my wife my Acura TL for this car!
by vara411 on January 3, 2011
Pros: Powerful V6, awesome warranty, excellent feature set, great looks, fun to drive. Newer Sorento builds will have an improved dual damper flow suspension... look for it. It rocks on the SX trim! Also: Built in the USA!
Cons: No power liftgate or memory seating options... but otherwise that's it!
Summary: My wife and I had not considered Kia but are very glad that we did. Kia has built themselves a real winner here with the new Sorento... you're seriously ...
Summary: My wife and I had not considered Kia but are very glad that we did. Kia has built themselves a real winner here with the new Sorento... you're seriously getting a GREAT car here, not just a good value anymore. I suspect we'll be happy with this car for years to come. And it all comes with the peace of mind of Kia's excellent warranty... you can't beat it. We have the SX trim and love it. I have a 2004 Acura TL (which I love) and am happy to trade it with my wife when I can... driving the Sorento SX is that much fun! :) We're extremely pleased at what we were able to get for our dollar. A phenomenal ride.

Please note: As with all vehicles today, there is a break in period on the engine of about 2000 miles before you get the true MPG. So be patient.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great Car! I am still in love 14 months later.

Summary: I purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento SX in November 2010. This was replacing a 2003 Toyota Corolla S that was totaled in a wreck with a deer. This is my third new car. Prior to purchasing the Sorrento I knew nothing about Kia and was completely partial to Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda vehicles. I test drove about 15 SUV's from these brands and Chevrolet, Nissan and Mitsubishi as well. Once I drove the Sorrento I was hooked. This is a luxury vehicle for a great price. It looks great and all of my co-workers were complimenting me on it. It definitely stands out despite being parked in a lot with 75 other cars. I got mine for $27,000 (MSRP- $34,000) after my fiance negotiated very carefully. This car has chrome rims and accents all over, all leather interior, a premium sound system and every bell and whistle available. To top if off the dealership threw in the chrome side rails to help you step into the vehicle and a bug guard for the hood since I was purchasing the showroom model. I love the roomy interior and the 3rd row seat option. I have been able to haul 3 electric fireplaces from Lowes, two bedroom dressers, all with the back seat down. This SUV handled wonderfully during the worst winter Kansas City had seen in 20 years! The ABS system does take over and prevents fishtailing.
I have had no issue with being locked out of the vehicle. In fact I keep the key in my purse on the front seat and I have never had an issue when I stopped to get gas or anything else. I had a Blackberry Tour and I had a small issue pairing it with the Sorrento. I took the phone to Verizon's store and the sales rep sat in my car and paired it within 5 minutes. I now had a Droid and it paired right away. I absolutely love my Sorrento and would buy another one. My fiance is in the market for a new car in the coming months and he will buy one. The dealership we went to is H&H Kia in Omaha, NE. They treated us so well, even waiting there for us until 8pm on a Friday night. My salesman Jon has called me a few times to see how I like the Sorrento. He sent me the instructions to pair the garage door opener in the Sorrento to my garage door. I lost one of the clips to hold a net in the trunk somehow and they are sending me a new one. There was a recall with the starter in this Sorrento last summer. The dealership in Independence, MO changed the starter with no issue. The only problem I have noted is that occasionally the bluetooth in the vehicle will echo or has poor sound quality. However, it usually seems to happen in areas with alot of possible interference or it happens when I am out in the suburbs in Kansas. This is not a big deal. The Droid has a great quality speaker function and I can switch to that when it happens. I have a dog and 3 cats and this vehicle is a dream to transport them to the vet. I get 426 miles for 15 gallons worth of gas. I drive 70 miles a day roundtrip for work and I can make it 5 days before I refuel (I dont drive with it lower then 40 miles remaining). I had no issue with my free 3 month trial of Sirius radio and I have kept it because its a great perk considering how much I drive. The aux and USB ports are excellent. I connect my Ipod and even a tape recorder to it and I can listen to notes from work, music, etc. -

Summary: this is our first brand new car and we just love it. we have a lab and a baby and have plenty of space to have one if not two more kids! haven't taken it on a long trip yet but we travel home (9hrs) often so we bought the vehicle with that in mind. looks great and the price was AMAZING. luxury feel without going in debt. the back up sensor is great for me bc i am short. i look forward to discovering more of what this vehicle can do and taking it home to show off!!

DO NOT BUY A SORENTO IF YOU OWN A BLACKBERRY
by Blackberry_girl on June 21, 2011
Pros: I like the push button start/stop and the push button keyless entry. I also like the back up sensors and the heated seats
Cons: The bluetooth doesn't work, it CAN lock the keys inside and don't expect your 3 month free Sirius radio like they advertise.

Summary: I am a 28 year old female and I purchased my very first brand new vehicle in February 2011. It is a 2011 Kia Sorento and I also own a Blackberry Bold 9780 that wouldn't pair with the stereo system from day one. They said the stereo needed to be replaced and that the stereo was on back order and they had no idea how long it was going to be. My 3 months of free Sirius radio also never worked from day one, they told me that had to do with the stereo as well. Two months later I got my new stereo, but my bluetooth and Sirius still didn't work. When I took it back to the dealership, they told me that the Blackberry has problems pairing with the Sorento system (which I was not told when I purchased the vehicle, other wise I NEVER would have purchased a Sorento.) I manage a cellular store in Saskatchewan and have been in the business for 5 years now, I would say I have the knowledge on how to get a Blackberry to pair with a Bluetooth devise. I did finally manage to pair it with my Blackberry, but two days later while driving on the highway my stereo started saying "pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed, pairing failed.........) I had to pull over and turn the bluetooth off on my phone in order for it to stop.
When the dealership called into Sirius to get my 3 months free service activated, Sirius told them that it had already been activated in October (again I purchased my Sorento in February.) They managed to get it to hook up; however it stopped working two weeks later. When I went back to the dealership they told me it wasn't there problem and to call Sirius myself.
Now to put the cherry on top of all of this........do not leave your keys in the Sorento. Friday of May long weekend, I was filling up with gas at the Costco gas station (where it is 7 cents less then everywhere else.) They have 6 lines with 2 pumps in each line, each pump had at least 5 cars behind it, I was trying to go quickly so I left everything in my vehicle except my debit card and Costco card. Once I finished filling up with gas and got my receipt, I went to get back into my vehicle and the doors were locked with the keys and my cell phone inside. I had to wait almost an hour for a tow truck to come and unlock my vehicle.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING A KIA SORENTO, UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE POOR SERVICE AND A LOT OF PROBLEMS. -

Kia DOES have the power to surprise!
by Anjelina1 on April 4, 2011
Pros: Best looking SUV (why it's listed in the above review as a CUV I'm not sure) I've seen around with better gas mileage then the others.
Great looking interior, 3rd row of seats that, along with the 2nd row, easily pull up and down, just all around cool.Cons: I agree that the sound system didn't impress but it's not like it sounds bad. Not a whole lot of leg room for anyone who sits in the 3rd row, more like a kids only area. With 3rd row up there is only a very small amount of room for the "trunk" space.
Summary: Over the last 15 or so years I never thought I'd buy a Kia, ever. But I just told my boyfriend yesterday that after driving "luxury" cars (I had ...
Summary: Over the last 15 or so years I never thought I'd buy a Kia, ever. But I just told my boyfriend yesterday that after driving "luxury" cars (I had more issues with 2 brand new Cadillac CTSs and a new BMW 3 series than I EVER had with any of my other cars) for the past few years I am def not feeling like I'm missing out by switching to my new Sorento.
The warranty is better than that of any car I've ever purchased and this is the first vehicle I've ever actually planned on keeping until it's paid off. I got a great deal on a loaded LX (under 24K) and it's got all the space we'll ever need when we add a baby or two to our family in the future. -

Never though about KIA before but I can't change it now
by isalaman on December 16, 2010
Pros: Exterior Style, Interior Design, Dash with red light, Bluetooth in English, Spanish and French, Turn lights in mirrors, Inputs for UBS, Ipod and MP3, Power Seats with heat, Fog lights, Satelite Radio.
Cons: Audio could be better, you gotta get a special cable to use your Ipod in the car, the one that comes with the Ipod doesn't work. Special features like Navigation System shoudn't be part of another package.
Summary: I feel great driving this vehicle! I really don't need V6 or FWD, mine is V4/AWD. But works great, no noises, excellent torque, quality interior. Here in Miami ...
Summary: I feel great driving this vehicle! I really don't need V6 or FWD, mine is V4/AWD. But works great, no noises, excellent torque, quality interior. Here in Miami we don't need heated seats or fog lights. Instead we would like to get sunroof as part of the package. Everything is great and works great. In short words, I'm very happy with my new car.
Just what I expected. Good price, nice interior, latest technology, great exterior design, great on gas. I love my Sorento EX V4!
