2012 Ford Edge Limited price range: $34,935.00

The good: Sync delivers excellent voice command and personal electronics integration in the 2012 Ford Edge. Sirius Travel Link brings in useful data such as traffic and weather information and gas prices. The 2-liter EcoBoost engine does not lack for power, but at the same time puts fuel economy in the mid-20s.
The bad: The MyFord Touch onscreen interface is poorly laid out and the buttons are often slow to respond.
The bottom line: The 2012 Ford Edge, with the EcoBoost engine, makes for a very practical family hauler, with a useful range of cabin electronics. The cabin tech interface might be flawed, but Ford has a fix on the way.

Shockingly good.
by Rojochingado on May 13, 2012
Pros: LOVE the microsoft Sync. The technology in this car is to crossovers what the I-phone is to cell phones, a quantum leap. I could see this being a Japanese killer, someone clearly put some serious thought into the design of this vehicle.
Cons: I question long term reliability, and I also wonder about re-sale value ? Plus new they are not cheap. But overall very nearly nothing bad to say.

Summary: I swore off American car makers years ago, it pained me, but after a series of really poorly designed American cars and trucks I'd had enough and gave up. Went Toyota and never looked back.
That said we have an Edge Limited as a rental and I am really impressed. My wife and I have actually been fighting over who gets to drive it.
Performance is hot and tight with the 3.5 litre six, (I think 265 h.p.). I got on the freeway today, guy behind me in a newer 5 Series BMW jumped on it and shot around me, as he did I buried the pedal on the edge and I stayed with him.
This car wants to run, cruising at 65 you can tell it wants to go 80, and it will in the snap of a finger.
The handling is taut and responsive with big wheels, not sure but I think 18's ? That said the ride is very smooth, almost Benz like. Ours has AWD but it's not a 4x4, not built on a truck chassis so at freeway speed it's almost deceptive how fast you're going. I really have to watch the speedo so as not to speed, the ride is that smooth.
Sound system is AWESOME and it synched up easily with my I-phone and automatically began playing songs at glass rattling volumes, clearly, and without distortion.
One thing, and this seems to be becoming more common in crossovers, but there are blind spots, and the rear head rests don't help. I tried to pull them out and toss them in the back, they went up, but they wouldn't come out ? However, here again, someone was thinking, ours has the back up cam so when you put it in reverse the video console springs to life with a color picture featuring green, yellow, then red grid lines to tell you how close you are to backing into something. Once you get to red a little bell dings, and if the radio is on it automatically lowers the volume so you can hear the bell.
As you go through the car you notice lots of little attention to detail things that traditionally have been the purview of the Japanese, the design is very thoughtful.
My only hesitation is my deep distrust of American car manufacturers, they have never been able to match the quality of Honda and Toyota.
But discounting that I would consider owning one of these and that's saying a lot. Very impressed, didn't know Ford was making cars like this. -
Ecoboost is a must have. Power and Performance.

Pros: Just took a trip from Sacramento to Yosemite Ca and averaged 29mpg each way.took Hwy 99 to 140 from Sacramento and Hwy 49 from Yosemite back to the Sac area so it was through varied terrain. impressive performance, plenty of power and yet 29mpg.
Cons: Reduced towing capacity for Ecoboost, only 1500lbs. But sufficient to tow a small trailer or a small fishing boat.
Summary: Thumbs up to great mileage and great horsepower with great on board technology.

I just like my Edge!

Pros: Cabin Tech -- great dashboard
Works with a variety of MP3 players
Big bold screen
seats are very comfortable
huge safari sunroof
I like the lines personally
Lots of room in back for my 3 large dogs.
Handles more like a car than a truck.Cons: Fuel economy is not as good as I had hoped -- 17.3 around town so far.
No lumbar adjustment in passenger seat.
Service isn't as good as other comparable SUV's.
Bluetooth cell phone connection is sometimes a bit quirky.Summary: I have been surprised at how much I enjoy my Edge. It's quite a bit more spacious inside than I'm used to. I've had several luxury SUV ...
Summary: I have been surprised at how much I enjoy my Edge. It's quite a bit more spacious inside than I'm used to. I've had several luxury SUV type vehicles -- BMW X5, Lexus RX400H, Infiniti FX35. THey are all great vehicles, but I think the Edge actually has the best cabin tech of all -- definitely the biggest and most beautiful screen which scores points with me. It also handles my collection of MP3 players very well, and has both an MP3 plug (my pet peeve with all my previous vehicles which didn't have one!) and a USB interface which works with several of my MP3 players.
It is also the most roomy -- something my 3 huge dogs appreciate immensely. What surprises me is that the handling and acceleration are comparable to the X5 and FX35. The Edge has a nice light feel, as compared to the FX35 or X5 which both have a heavy feel to them, even though they hold corners very well.
The Edge also has by far the nicest moonroof of the bunch. What it doesn't have is exceptional mileage, it is not as good as I had hoped for -- but possibly it will get better as the car gets broken in.
Overall, I just love my Edge -- even though I thought it would be a step down from my foreign luxury SUV's. -
Good, but other less expensive options exist.

Summary: - I 'almost' bought the Sport version of this model this last December, but instead ultimately bought my first Toyota - the Venza AWD V6. Absolutely loaded with every available option (less DVD system), the Venza was all-in still priced about $4k less than the Edge AWD Sport. The Venza (if CR and Edmunds are to be believed) offers a much better resale outlook, too. The Venza's 0-60 performance tested around 6.8 seconds vs. the Edge Sport's 7.1 sec. Finally, the Venza is not as tall as the Edge - more car/wagon-like, but my co-workers and family feel the Venza still looks more "sporty" and "sleeker" - esp. with its 20" rims and 50-series Eagles on it. Go with the Blizzard Pearl White - very classy looking.
