The good: The 2012 Range Rover Evoque uses direct injection and a turbo to get 240 horsepower out of its 2-liter engine. Its all-wheel-drive system has programs for different conditions. Exterior styling is unique and attractive.
The bad: The transmission has difficulty settling on a gear. Touch-screen response times were slow.
The bottom line: The 2012 Range Rover Evoque is a luxurious and striking SUV with off-road chops and good-quality, if not cutting-edge, cabin tech.
DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SH*T!!!
by kizaw on February 27, 2012
Pros: The car looks really nice. Cool design and fuel efficient for an small SUV.
Cons: The car died a week after I purchased it. And to make matters worse the loaner car the dealer gave me while they try and fix my car is giving me problems too. I was warned about Land Rovers and I didn't listen. Damn myself!!!

Summary: Purchased this car 3 weeks ago. I drove it home from the dealer and parked it in my garage. I came out a week later to drive it and it was dead. Land Rover sent out 3 different tow companies to figure out how to tow it because of the dial gear changer won't rise from the console to put it in nuetral when the car has no juice. They still have my car after 2 weeks trying to figure out what the problem is. But, to make matters worse the brand new Evoque loaner they gave me until my cars problems have been figured out is acting up. When in drive and I press on the brake to put it in reverse, while i'm parking the car the dial keeps getting stuck in the drive position. I press the brake harder and it's still locked. I let off the brake, still locked. Finally after pumping the brakes a few times it decides to unlock and let me put the car in a different gear. This has happened already 4 times in a couple of days. This is major. It's kind of dangerous considering one of the times it didn't work was during a K turn on a 2 way street. Then a minor issue was in the loaner is with the iPod adapter. While playing music the sound just stopped. Not the iPod that kept running on the screen but the sound wasn't coming out. Tried a bunch of things to figure it out but nothing. It finally worked when I shut the car off and restarted the car. This piece of sh*t has way to many problems. Too bad because I like how the car looks but with all these issues "looks ain't everything". When I get it back from service this Rover is over. I should have stuck with the Germans.

Love this car!
by eledoux on February 28, 2012
Pros: Great handling and styling... Drives as well as the Audi A4 and BMW 5-series that we've owned in the past. Fuel economy is excellent.
Cons: A V6 would be nice, but that would undermine fuel efficiency. The wide stance and limited visibility took some getting used to. A bit pricey, but is on par with similarly equipped luxury SUVs. So far, the dealer experience has been less than stellar.

So far so great. But it's a sports sedan not a truck.
by scrannel on March 21, 2013
Pros: Excellent off-road manners. Dynamic available with MagneRide. Engine has plenty of power yet can be babied for better MPG. On-road this is a very tight sports sedan, at least with MagneRide.
Cons: Limited trunk space compared with big Range, rear seating a little tight for my taste.

Summary: 2013 model is best so far, with excellent Nav and improved all around. It's also one of a few cars in the world that has the option of Magnetic Suspension. (Google it if you don't know what it is). Best suspension in the world. Now found on Ferrari, Audi R8 etc. My car is of a very high build quality and is our 8th Land Rover product. We have had excellent results with these cars. I bought my big Range new in 2003 and ten years and 97k miles later the car has only let me down once. My wife's Sport has been excellent. The Evoque is fun, fast, beautiful, economical and I expect it to give me the same experience the other LRs have.
I can't believe I bought this car

Pros: Looks great, all the bells and whistles are wonderful, very comfortable. Interior is well designed.
Cons: I had two major engine problems withing 3 months of owing the car. It is in the shop now after 1 week of figuring out why the car won't start.

Summary: The car just shut off while I was driving down a busy street. Thankfully I had the ability to pull out of traffic so I could restart the car. This is major problem #2. The first one I thought I was stranded in the mountains after freezing temps. the car wouldn't read the car fab. I panicked and called my husband, thankfully I read the manual first and remembered that I had to place the key under the steering column and then pressed start. It finally started, that was after 1 month of owning the car. I am debating if I should keep it now that they said they are working to fix it.
Great looks, great drive, no problems

Summary: Have the Pure edition 2 wheel drive since july 2012, car has 20.000 + miles and I'm very pleased with the comfort, the pleasure of driving the car and the very low noise level aboard. I was a little scared about reliability but I have not had one single problem on the car. The car seems to age very well, materials are up and top and no squeeks or rateling

Summary: I was driving down the interstate going about 70mph, when all of a sudden it feels like my car was knocked out of gear into neutral. No matter how much I pushed the gas, it just kept slowing down, like it was down shifting. When I pushed the gas, the rpm needle jumped, but car was still slowing down very fast... I was helpless. Cars and Big trucks were swirving to keep from crashing into me. I couldnt pull over because i was in the fast lane and also was going over a bridge at the time and had no where to pull off. Once I got down to 2mph, I was panicking so bad I didn't know what else to do but hit the start button. I hit it the first time and a notification flashed on my screen saying "warning, engine off" so I hit the start button Again and my car took off like a race horse... It reset my clock back to 12:00. I went straight to dealership raising hell because my nerves were so shot! After spending about an hour on my car, they said there was no history of any event stored in my cars computer.... Basically making me feel as if they were assuming i was making it all up. They tried to send me home in my car and told me to come back if it happened again... ha! How do i know i will be that lucky if it happened again!!??!! I asked the man if he would put his family in that car, They reluctantly gave me a rental car (a Toyota basic suv) and told me they would call the engineers the next day to see if they can figure it out. Next day came (which is today) and they tell me they still can't find anything wrong with it and said I could come and get it. I asked if they checked the transmission and he said the computer checked everything..... I said you are going to sign off on paper on everything you checked right? He said, well uh, the engineer hasn't checked off on it yet, but I can get u a copy Monday. Just leave ur car till Monday and they will look at it again. SHADY!!!!!!!! U let me take my car somewhere else and they find the problem... We really going to have a LEGAL problem then
HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE???

Pros: Great Styling. Smooth Ride. Fuel Efficient.
Cons: Warranty support is severely lacking. After 6 months the car stopped working for me after suffering from the same issues other Evoque owners are having. Mechanics are stumped. Apparently the technician support they asked for are stumped as well.
Summary: I am extremely disappointed with my Evoque after 6 months of ownership the car has completely quit on me. Here is the long list of issues:

Pros: Two tone interior, 5 cameras surrounding the car, massive glass roof, dial style gear, surprisingly spacey interior, extremely fast, passive entry, EVERYTHING
Cons: Sun roof doesn't open, no blind spot detection, center console lags slightly

Summary: The car drives like a dream. After driving this car, and then driving a different car, it's painful. I became so addicted to driving this car. I mean, how could you not with the great gas mileage it gets. I had to fill up for the first time at 500 miles, and I paid around $50 (unheard of in NY) for the premium gas. When you drive this car, everyone looks at you in awe. It's such a stunning vehicle. Everywhere I go, people compliment the car. For an SUV, this car drives so quick and picks up so fast. The passive entry is so convenient, I love not having to take the keys out of my pocket to open, close, and start the car. The interior is beautiful, two-tone red and black. I've never seen anything like it. You can tell the car is quality, with all the aluminum and detailed features. The dial style gear has become so nice to use that using a regular gear isn't even enjoyable anymore. This was a wonderful investment and worth the expense, because I can see myself being in love with this car for a long time.
Evoque Convertible looks premium and flippin' lovely.
by hguiiiiiiiiiiiiiii on February 28, 2012
Pros: Looks are stunning. First ever premium convertible SUV.
Cons: the roof retracts in to the boot. While this will have an impact on what you can put in the luggage area.

Summary: There can be no argument that the Range Rover Evoque is one of the sexiest cars currently on the road. Well, you could argue about it, but you'd be wrong. Because Range Rover has somehow managed to fuse a practical car with some impressive modern styling and still managed to keep it as one of the nicest cars to drive currently available. This convertible promises to carry that brilliant range forward.
