Apple iPad (4th generation) price range: $459.99 - $499.99

The good: The newest iPad's faster A6X processor adds extra system speed and graphics power. Improved worldwide cellular compatibility makes the LTE model a more appealing proposition. And the iOS App Store remains best in class, with the widest selection.
The bad: The fourth-gen iPad is otherwise identical to its recent predecessor -- same size, weight, and Retina screen. It's heavy to hold in one hand, and most older accessories won't work without investing in a pricey Lightning adapter.
The bottom line: The latest iPad adds several tweaks and improvements to secure its position at the top of the tablet heap. It's better all around, but third-gen owners need not apply.

The Best Just Got Better!
by TUtone71 on January 5, 2013
Pros: The display is awesome nothing on the market like it.
A6X Chip=Speed Speed Speed
Battery life I'm getting 12 hours on full charge
Great CamerasCons: Some complain its heavy MAN Up sissy . If your looking for smaller lighter go with the new iPad Mini aka "big touch" good for wife and kid.

Excellent Display Quality.
by TVD24 on December 6, 2012
Pros: Smooth, 9.7 inches Display is excellent (1536 x 2048 pixels ~264 ppi pixel density), More Apps.
Cons: No Flash support
Video format like MKV/AVI still require third party video player & Free APPS are not Add free.
No Slot for SD card.
Require ITUNE for anything.
Can not connect to PC which doesn't have ITUNE.
Google apps are not up to mark.Summary: Hardware build quality is good but considering cost and facility available on IPAD, it's not worth buying.

VERY fast, brilliant graphics, Great!
by kaps--2008 on November 22, 2012
Pros: New processor is great but the impact on graphics is the main benefit I've seen. When games get optimized for the 4, watch out!
Cons: Still suffers from the problems with iOS 6: wireless stalling, crashing. When fixed, watch out!
Summary: Clearly the Best Tablet! There just is no competition.

Summary: This new iPad may be good, but Apple has released it way too early, since the 3rd gen. IPad was just launched several months ago. And now they're discontinuing it!
If you're an iPad 3 user (like me), this product and announcement will leave you HUGELY disappointed at Apple for releasing a new product when the older one was not even a year old!
My suggestion: If you have an iPad 3, keep it. It's fast enough and will continue to be so for a few years.3 out of 12 users found this user opinion helpful.

Apps crash, especially Safari, just like my iPad 1.
by thechoop on November 14, 2012
Pros: I do not have any
Cons: Personally, I cannot see why this product crashes just like my iPad 1. Completely unacceptable. Also, what is all the hoopla about the retina display? Honestly, I cannot tell the difference between my iPad 1 and my iPad 4.

Summary: I would wait until there is a group of users that confirm Apple has solved the issue of apps crashing and booting you to the home screen. Until then, don't spend ~$ 500 on a hope and a dream.
I did not want to list all of the issues with my iPad 4 because I thought I would get a lot of email portraying me as an Apple hater, which I am not. I own many Apple products and I am happy with all of the except for my iPad 1 and the iPad 4.
Updated on Nov 19, 2012
The iPad 4 has an additional issue in which the wireless network drops off if I venture more than ~20 feet from the router. My iPad 1 can be used almost twice the distance from the router as the iPad 4.
Just here to provide my experiences.

Summary: for price I would go for blackberry play book or iPad 2. for practicality go 4 any android tablet. if u own an ipad3, unless u want to waste your time and money no need to go 4 this one. used it for 1 week and it offers nothing more to my day to day life than my note (which beats it hands down), BB playbook or ipad2 which offer more for the price.

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: MD513LL/A
- Description: Pick up the iPad with Retina display and suddenly, it's clear. You're actually touching your photos, reading a book, playing the piano. Nothing comes between you and what you love. That's because the fundamental elements of iPad - the display, the processor, the cameras, the wireless connection - all work together to create the best possible experience. And they make iPad capable of so much more than you ever imagined. The A6X chip inside iPad is the most powerful mobile chip yet. It delivers up to twice the CPU and graphics performance of the A5X chip. And it makes iPad feel faster and even more responsive. Apps launch instantly and run smoothly. Graphics-intensive games are fluid and lifelike on the gorgeous Retina display. And with improved image signal processing built into the A6X chip, the photos and videos you take with the 5-megapixel iSight camera look sharper and even more Retina worthy. FaceTime on iPad puts you face-to-face - even when you're miles apart. You can make a video call over Wi-Fi, so if you're out and about, your friends and family are never out of the loop. And now with the FaceTime HD camera, everyone can get an even better view of you and what's around you. You can also use it for taking self-portraits or recording 720p HD video. iPad is sleek, beautiful, and engineered to handle life on the go - thanks in large part to the aluminum unibody. By consolidating many parts into one, everything becomes less complex and far more precise. The result is an iPad that's thin, light, and durable enough for the ins and outs of everyday life. The Wi-Fi capabilities built into iPad keep you connected faster than ever - up to twice as fast as any previous-generation iPad. With dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11n Wi-Fi and support for channel bonding, download speeds can reach up to 150 Mbps. Translation: many of the things you do every day may start to feel a whole lot faster.
