The good: Apple's new iPad includes a stunning new screen, matched by a quad-core graphic processor and the world's largest app and media store to feed it content. There's a proper 5-megapixel rear camera now, with 1080p recording quality. Optional 4G data from AT&T and Verizon afford an uncompromising mobile experience.
The bad: The new iPad is slightly heavier than last year's model; apps and movies optimized for the screen might take up more space; and ports for HDMI, USB, and SD require adapters.
The bottom line: With a host of improvements--faster graphics, 4G wireless options, a better camera, and a gorgeous high-res screen--the latest iPad cements its position at the head of the tablet pack.

Pros: High Resolution Display
Battery Life
Reliable solid design
IOS Ecosystem
App Store
IOS Navigation System
Apple build qualityCons: This is such a compelling, pack-leading tablet that we were forced to buy one for every member of 5 person family. This got a bit pricey.
Summary: The iPad has always lead the pack in the tablet market segment. This new tablet extends its lead and dominance over competing tables.

SPECTACULAR Screen Very Fast Graphics & LTE/9Hr battery
by maccorporate on March 16, 2012
Pros: The screen is AMAZING. APPS already updated look AWESOME.
MUCH FASTER EVERYWHERE. New camera's pictures are on a par with my iPhone 4. The speed of 4G on Verizon bests my FIOS and i get a free HOTSPOT -Battery seems to last as long as iPad2 ...Wow!Cons: Some APS need to be updated BUT THAT IS NOT THE IPADS FAULT!
( btw a buggy App is still a buggy app no mater )
Seems to charge a little slower than previous model.
if one of your iPad 2 Cases was snug before its too snug now!
Great- No more cons!!!Summary: This is an AWESOME iPad refresh.
Apple please update the Macbook PROS with the same screen!!!

Apple please update the Macbook PROS with the same screen!!!
NICE!
running my iphone web through my iPad fast- Insane! Now my GF is going to want one too. Bye bye iPad 2. Oh my.
Did I say Everything is a bit faster? This puppy must have more RAM or something cause it loads and operates faster on all APS, not only graphical ones.
Feels about the same as iPad2 as does the thickness.
And what a screen! This is easily the best tablet ever. come to think about it, so was the iPad 2 until today.
get iPhoto, it will change the way you use photos on iPad.
Ok I'm done... going to play some more. ;-D5 out of 9 users found this user opinion helpful.

Buy? Techies, yes. Casuals? Ehhh.
by BruceClay85 on March 16, 2012
Pros: The screen is everybit as awesome as they say. The new camera is a nice addition. iOS is still a great system for entertainment and browsing. Super fast interface and ease of use. Excellent battery life.
Cons: That bright new screen really shows the flaws of apps that don't support such a high resolution. The camera isn't the greatest jump I had hoped for after using the iPhone 4s camera. Runs a little hot when putting that new screen to use.
Summary: If you are in the market and are not on a budget this is definitely the iPad to get. However, if you are not a techie who has to have ...

Summary: I got the new iPad to replace the first generation one, and the difference is like night and day. This one has a screen that is a marvel to look at. It's also much faster, and the 4G is life altering. Also, the OS is so highly polished that you forget you're using a glorified computer at all.

It is simply put the best tablet in the marketplace.
by Ghostdancer1221 on April 29, 2012
Pros: It is a great option to a laptop, I travel quite a bit and it is a pain to haul around the boat anchor Dell.
Cons: It should have a usb port, and it would be nice to upgrade the storage.
Summary: I would tell everyone, if you have the means to spring for the addtional cost, do so you will not regret it.

Hard decision--is it worth upgrade from iPad2?
by anovicenomore on March 19, 2012

Cons: The extra weight and thickness are noticable, no matter what some say. Also, it runs hotter.

Summary: This is a typically great Apple product. However, so is the iPad2. So the dicision on whether to upgrade from the iPad2 depends on how free you are with your money. I upgraded, and I'm keeping both because I love my light and thin iPad2, but I also love the screen on the new iPad.
I've now had the chance to use the new iPad's LTE (Verizon)and it is Fast, Fast, Fast! Much faster than Wi-Fi at home. A big plus for me because I'm stilled confused about hot spots and tethering.
Updated on Mar 20, 2012
Updated on Mar 25, 2012O.K., I've used my new iPad for a week now, and realize it clearly beats the iPad2. It's like being totally satisfied with that $10 bottle of wine--until you try that $20 bottle. Then you ask yourself, "Why did I like that $10 bottle so much?" It's because I didn't know what I was missing. The same applies to the new iPad.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

This is an evolutionary but still significant update.
by alexkhan2010 on March 17, 2012
Pros: The screen is indeed gorgeous and is alone worth the upgrade for owners of the first iPad. It's virtually a no-brainer for people looking to buy their first tablet. The graphics performance is great and 4G LTE makes it more useful out of the home.
Cons: It's heavier and a little thicker than the iPad 2.

Summary: This new iPad will only strengthen Apple's dominance of the nascent tablet market - especially in terms of profits since Amazon is losing money on each Kindle Fire it ships. No one else really has the ecosystem that Apple has - especially in the tablet space.
This isn't a revolutionary upgrade - just a very solid update of what the original iPad and iPad 2 have established. Owners of the first iPad and new tablet buyers should definitely pick this one up but I don't see why iPad 2 owners really need to upgrade after having it for a year or less. I don't think Apple expects most people to upgrade after a year - just like the phones since one is normally bound to it for 2 years anyway.
Apple's overall product line roadmap seems to be keeping the physical form factor roughly the same for two years as evidenced by the iPhone 4 and 4S and now the iPad 2 and this new iPad. I think we can definitely expect some new industrial designs and form factors for the next iPhone coming out in the summer/fall and the next iPad a year from now.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Overall this is a good device. I had the first gen iPad so this was a great improvement for me. I love all the icloud features and the apps that support the retina display are excellent. I have the smart cover but I am looking for something that I can use the smart cover and cover the back, but nothing comes out until next month. I guess that's what we get when Apple decides to keep the device a secret until a week before it comes out.
I am enjoying it as is the wife.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.
Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: MC705LL/A
- Description: Pick up the iPad and suddenly, it's clear. You're actually touching your photos, reading a book, playing the piano. Nothing comes between you and what you love. To make that hands-on experience even better, they made the fundamental elements of iPad better - the display, the camera, the wireless connection. All of which makes the third-generation iPad capable of so much more than you ever imagined. Everything you do with iPad, you do through its large, beautiful display. And when the display is better, the entire iPad experience is better. The Retina display on the iPad features a 2048-by-1536 resolution, 44-percent greater color saturation, and an astounding 3.1-million pixels - in the same 9.7-inch space. That's four times the number of pixels in iPad and a million more than an HDTV. Those pixels are so close together, your eyes can't discern individual ones at a normal viewing distance. When you can't see the pixels, you see the whole picture. Or article. Or game. In ways you never could before.
