Apple iPad Mini price range: $299.00 - $331.98

The good: The iPad Mini's ultrathin and light design is far more intimate and booklike than the larger iPad, and its cameras, storage capacities, optional LTE antenna, and general functionality offer a full iPad experience. The screen's dimensions elegantly display larger-format magazines and apps.
The bad: The iPad Mini costs too much, especially considering the lower resolution of its 7.9-inch non-Retina Display. The A5 processor isn't as robust as the one in the fourth-gen iPad and iPhone 5. Typing on the smaller screen is not quite as comfy.
The bottom line: If you want the full, polished Apple tablet experience in a smaller package, the iPad Mini is worth the premium price. Otherwise, good alternatives are available for less money.

Perfect size, beautiful, best ecosystem out there
by Count Boni on November 4, 2012
Pros: The size is very comfortable, you can use all the apps perfectly, all buttons and controls feel just alright, the apps universe makes the iPad mini even better, there is no need to find new apps, it just works.
Cons: Lack of retina display, it's still beautiful, usable and so good to use, but once you're used to retina, you can't go back. I'm sure they made some sacrifices because of the current technology, but it's so thin and light that it's ok.

Summary: If you don't have an iPad, need a lot of portability and you want a product that is functional, perfectly executed, with thousands of amazing quality apps, then this iPad is for you. It fits in most small bags and coats, surprisingly, typing on it feels great and I've found out that it's the perfect companion for business and pleasure trips. A bit pricer than other options but it's totally worth it. As usual, Apple delivers not only a beautiful product, but something well planned, with great usability and it will last more than a couple years without feeling outdated. Unfortunately they couldn't "fit in" the retina display but it's not something to put you off that much. Network speed is outstanding as well. Just give it a try.

Perfect size, great performance, my 'in between device'
by MikeZ_IMH on December 17, 2012
Pros: The size is perfect for portability. I have the 4th gen also and though its fast and the retina is awesome... the iPad mini has a great sized display and can handle any app I throw at it. Materials used makes it feel very solid in your hand. FAST LTE
Cons: Though the display is really nice compared to other tablets it would be nice to have a retina version.. yeah we are spoiled by retina. The processor handles apps no problem but have some minor shudders at times but its expected for the A5

Summary: It is worth every penny and shelling out the extra money over comparable android devices. I have 2 iPads, iPhone5, and an iMac so having the synchronization across all devices and not worrying if I can find an app in another platform is worth every penny (and I am sure that's why apple knows they can charge a premium). I have tested a good amount of tablets and apple does use great materials and the iPad Mini is no different. It really is built solid and the aspect of the screen leaves a lot of viewing real estate. Don't get me wrong I do like android and do think they are on the right track... but apple just does a better job fitting my needs and doing it with style and performance. Oh and typing on the screen is so easy and it is nice not having to stretch my thumbs typing in portrait mode like I have to on the rest of the iPads. If you have a laptop and looking for an 'in between' device that you can whip out when you don't need a full blown laptop the iPad Mini will not disappoint!

Proof that M. Jobs was wrong about the size!

This product replaces an iPad2 which I hardly used because not long after getting it I also bought a 13" Macbook Air. I just found the size of the iPad2 awkward to handle and my Air is so light and convenient (with a full keyboard and speakers) that it rendered the iPad obsolete.
On to the Mini:
I instantly fell in love with the form factor. It's light and easy to handle one-handed. Unlike its big brother you can move around with it without always being afraid of dropping it.
I know it's been blasted for its screen, but since I never owned an iPad with a retina display I feel it performs just great. Text might not be as crisp as on my iPhone5 but the size difference negates that advantage.
My iPad usage consist primarily of reading my Tweeter feed, news and sports website and a few subscription magazines. I also use it to watch the occasional movie trailer, Youtube video and browse the web, so performance of the "chip" is not a big issue. It performs very well for what I do.
So contrary to what M. Jobs might of thought of the iPad Mini, because of the size I find myself using it much more often than the bigger version. It's small enough not to be cumbersome and big enough not to be a strain on the eyes. Now when I'm at home on the couch I reach for my Mini instead of my MB Air or my iPhone to read up on the days news and events.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: If you're thinking about which tablet to buy a loved one and money isn't an issue, I'd recommend the iPad mini every time for it's more impressive design compared to the swathes of plastic offered by its competitors. It's still overpriced, the CPU and display aren't as strong as they could be, but I can safely say this is the gift we'd like to see Santa put under our tree over the rest.

Ultra-premium device in a super thin and light package.
by pjs_boston on November 1, 2012
Pros: Unmatched build quality and materials
Thinnest, lightest tablet money can buy
Best battery life of any tablet
Vivid display with excellent color accuracy
5 MP backside camera (most 7" tablets have no backside camera)
Full Apple ecosystemCons: Display resolution is lower than competitors (Expect full Retina display next spring)
Summary: Not a competitor to bargain basement Android tablets. This is the full iPad experience for those of us who prefer a more portable device.

Great device but at 300$ it is not worth it
by crazycat9x on November 2, 2012
Pros: Thin, light, very comfortable to hold and lot of great apps
Cons: i would rather spend more for the full size ipad or less for a more powerfull, beautiful display nexus 7 or even nexus 10, yes the nexus 10 cost around 300$ two and it have 299 ppi display! It look more like a strech out ipod than a shrunken ipad
Summary: Again great device. The nexus 7 wont have any affect on it. But the nexus 10 could kill it. Dont waste your money. If you really want it, wait for ...
