Apple iPad Mini price range: $299.00 - $329.00

The good: The iPad Mini's ultrathin and light design is far more intimate and booklike than the larger iPad, and its cameras, storage capacities, optional LTE antenna, and general functionality offer a full iPad experience. The screen's dimensions elegantly display larger-format magazines and apps.
The bad: The iPad Mini costs too much, especially considering the lower resolution of its 7.9-inch non-Retina Display. The A5 processor isn't as robust as the one in the fourth-gen iPad and iPhone 5. Typing on the smaller screen is not quite as comfy.
The bottom line: If you want the full, polished Apple tablet experience in a smaller package, the iPad Mini is worth the premium price. Otherwise, good alternatives are available for less money.

Cheapest iOS tablet, lots of features, a bit expensive.
by clsid on November 1, 2012
Pros: Amazing build quality with nice aluminum materials. Good camera picture quality. Full access to the largest selection of tablet-optimized apps. Unmatched music store. Plenty of e-bookstores. Good graphics performance for games. Very lightweight.
Cons: Low resolution screen when most Apple products are moving to Retina high resolution displays. I believe the right price for this would have been $299 instead of $329.

Great size, easy to handle, runs all iPad apps
by bloggerblog on December 4, 2012
Pros: Very fast, great performance
Very light in weight
Easy to carryCons: Should've been slightly smaller, it's kinda hard to hold in one hand.
Summary: I love it, I actually prefer it over the 10" iPad. It's way more convenient.

Would be perfect with retina
by WMacaulay on May 13, 2013
Pros: 01 Size is perfect
02 Performance is excellent compared to other tabs I've tried
03 Construction is magnificent. Really solid
04 Great for business and creative professionalsCons: 01 Retina display will come sometime, I'm sure
02 Screen precision with stylus isn't spot-onSummary: I use the Mini as a sketch and creative device in architecture and construction. I considered Android, but the apps just aren't there yet with the same depth there ...
Summary: I use the Mini as a sketch and creative device in architecture and construction. I considered Android, but the apps just aren't there yet with the same depth there are with iOS. While I'm not a Mac guy - all my PCs are Windows-based - I already have an iPhone so an Android tablet wasn't tempting. Autodesk has slew of apps for iOS and that helped seal the deal for me.
The size of the Mini is part of what makes it so good: I find the iPad 4 a bit too large, and the Mini just a bit small, but still prefer the size of the Mini.
The Mini does everything well: content creation, e-reader, mail and calendar, browsing - I'm using my PC and my phone much less as a result of the Mini. -
If my 75 year old grandma can do it, you can!.

Excellent small tablet.
by tmybrgr3 on April 21, 2013
Pros: Lightweight and very thin (weight feels like a kindle)
No compromises in terms of being an iPad (its the same experience)
Magazines look great on the device (sans some text)
Pictures and video are decent
Doesn't lag in terms of speedCons: Lack of retina display (but the screen isn't that bad)

Summary: I have an iPad3 Retina, iPhone 5 and Macbook Pro Retina so I am definitely into the clarity of the retina displays and will definitely get a mini with one when it arrives. But for travel and just general reading, the mini cannot be beat. I was very hesitant to get one but am really glad I did. The text can be a bit fuzzy on magazines or websites but it is not so bad that you get a headache or are not able to read it is just not crystal clear - sort of like having slightly dirty glasses on. So its not bad. Especially if you take into account build quality and weight. If you are looking for thin and light you won't be disappointed. Trust me the bigger iPad is amazing but it is quite heavy to hold with one hand for a reading session or for travel. Give it a try Apple has a 14-day return policy and trying at home probably will make you a convert.

One of my best purchases of all time.
by ibrocky on April 17, 2013
Pros: - Lightweight (super light!)
- small as my moleskin journal
- iOS
- no glitches
-Cons: - I am not bothered by the lack of retina at all.
- wish it had more than 512mb of memory

Summary: The potential of this device is tremendous and the sad thing is that I have to wait a while before the REAL iPad mini comes out. I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase. I don't care about the iOS limitations because it's very consistent. Bottom line, it works!!
Lack of retina doesn't bother me at all because it's been very functional in all that I do with it.
My main purposes for this device: note taking (Evernote), scheduling, quick emails, reading (kindle, chrome, safari, pocket), and personal banking.
iPad mini will not fail you at all. It's very consistent and will be awesome at what it does. -
I love this product!!
by zedd94 on April 13, 2013
Pros: Very light, easy to use. Had the original Ipad. I considered going with a Retina display, but for internet browsing, reading and app use, this is the best bet. If you will use it more like a computer, consider the full size with Retina display.
Cons: No retina display, but that is not a deal killer. Side by side at the Apple store, the difference was not night and day. More like day and early morning.

Summary: I loved my original Ipad, and it still works. This product meets my needs of portability and being able to hold it in my hands to play games or read without my hands getting fatigued. I opted for 32g this time because my app library and media consumption is bound to go up. If in doubt check out the full size and mini side by side at the Apple store or your local Best Buy. I bought mine at Apple. The customer service at the Apple Store is the best I have ever received anywhere. And if not for them, I would've spent more money on the Ipad w/Retina, and in the end less satisfied. The apps and internet browsing are optimized for the mini, so everything fits. Used HBO Go last night, and it was a joy to watch a program with headphones while in bed. I did opt for Apple Care, since I anticipate taking this with me almost everywhere I go. If you want a device that works, sets up in minutes out of the box, a host of apps, great media content, and ease of use: GET The Ipad Mini. I have been an Apple user for 5 years. I have considered the Nexus 7. However, the extra money is well spent since I know it meets the criteria I mentioned above. You can find the price is coming down for certain retailers. I suspect a Retina display is coming soon, but that didn't stop me. If a Retina display Mini comes out, I'll just buy that for my wife. And I got the Smart Cover. I love it.

Summary: I bought this to dump my big iPad 3 but that was a mistake. The resolution on the mini was horrible.Text was choppy and brightness was kind of gray and not bright like the iPad 3 even with adjustments. I returned back to store after 2 days. I'm moving on to the new Galaxy Note 8.0 with the better resolution and flexibility of USB and memory card.

Surprisingly Love the iPad mini & Screen Size
by blue5ft3 on March 9, 2013
Pros: Screen size-remarkably bigger than 7" tablet. Siri, great rear camera, stereo speakers, VERY light, NO lag. Apps use full screen, not stretched out phone apps. Webpages are full size, Easy typing & to hold GREAT battery life IOS apps Metal=STURDY
Cons: There are no cons for me

Summary: I don't care about Retina displays. I think once they add it, the iPad mini won't be as quick or have the fantastic battery life that it has now. I take this everywhere. It takes very nice pictures. The sound is good. The biggest thing with the iPad mini was how surprised I am at how much I like it and use it. The Nexus 7 sits there. As much as I love my iPad 4 w/Retina Display, it's my sit down to use and work device now. I honestly recommend it. I heard someone say you have to feel and use it to see how great it is. I think that's true. I just love this tablet and it's so very light, it's a pleasure to use. Typing is easier than I thought it would be too. I wish I had gotten a model with more storage. This has been great to get for the kids also, who have to use iPads for school. Our school system uses the iPads. I think the price being higher than 7" tablets is well worth the money.
I'm sorry for lack of punctuation, and the choppy sentences under Pros. The characters are limited, causing me to chop them to bits.

Coming from an iPad 2 to an iPad Mini I'm happy with it
by NateWilzon on March 3, 2013
Pros: -Screen is more crisp than the iPad 2i for sure and more colorful.
-Love the cameras both are much more improved over the iPad 2.
-Wifi is noticeably faster as well.
-Speed is great actually a tiny bit faster than iPad 2. (Smaller screen maybe?)Cons: -No Retina display (honestly don't care about it even though it looks beautiful when I had my iPhone 4)
- Older processor (however it really doesn't matter on a small screen to me)Summary: Beautiful device, the design is much more comfortable to hold than the iPad 2 it looks higher quality too thanks to the new design. (I have the black model) the ...
Summary: Beautiful device, the design is much more comfortable to hold than the iPad 2 it looks higher quality too thanks to the new design. (I have the black model) the price is a tiny bit high, not insanely however since it being an Apple product I'd much rather "over pay" than underpay for a slow bogged down android tablet (don't get me wrong I love android). The speed of iOS is still unmatched, Siri works wonderfully, cameras are surprisingly good, screen is crisp, very easy to type on with your two thumbs now thanks to the smaller size, also did I mention... How LIGHT this device is?! That was the most shocking to me was it is as light as a feather.
Forgot to mention one downfall is that the battery takes a LONG LONG LONG time to charge
Overall very happy with it, sadly I know they will just come out with another one with a Retina display and ill be left out lol.
Updated on Mar 3, 2013
However the battery does last a long time. Well over 10 hours using it all day pretty much.
