Stay away from Archos 9
by blackturd on March 4, 2010
Pros: It looks amazing
Cons: By looking at this device you think it's amazing. From the minute you turn this wast of a device on you understand it's underpowered, not ready for primetime and worthless.

Summary: I bought the Archos 9 wanting a Windows7 version of the iPad. What I ended up getting was the slowest PC experience I have ever seen. It's embarrasing for Intel and Archos. How can you sell something so underperforming and keep a straight face? Especially, with your hype on this device as game changing, revolutionary, and blah blah. LIES! Bottom, line great idea Archos - get some performance, figure out how to use a touch interface and give me call. Archos you need to take a lesson in human factors and user experience. DO NOT BUY THIS!!

Great product, first of its kind, got everything I need
by paskhon on September 2, 2010
Pros: Wifi transfer from my desktop comp, play movie well, Wireless broadband is flawless, very low price, can tweak to have hibernate function, can rotate orientation by clicking on the desktop of archos 9, looks great, could use 32gb SD cardS.
Cons: a little slow but considering the price is ok. the harddisk space is a little short but quite ok too
Summary: I would buy it twice and won't regret it. It's almost all I need.

Laying with losers develops nothing but Crap...
by Illyje on October 28, 2010
Pros: Once it's done updating and you block all the background aps. it actually is a decent tablet. Mine Has Ultimate and it works fine once it's ready to. plays videos fine from netflix or youtube. games are fine as well.
Cons: sluggish because of the garbage atom processor from intel. intel is a terrible company, they are always behind on the curve. Archos should of never got into bed with those losers. I usually like their products, not this one...
Summary: Needs a better processor, preferably from AMD. It needs A Better Battery, after one hour I'm charging it again. the touch screen was slow to respond, it was better ...
Summary: Needs a better processor, preferably from AMD. It needs A Better Battery, after one hour I'm charging it again. the touch screen was slow to respond, it was better to use the laser roller on the right of the device for it to respond better. Otherwise I think it's okay. better processor would solve most of it's problems. It was too expensive for what I got, I could have bought a dell from 2 years ago and would have gotten a better deal for the money, and I hate dell. An Archos Device whose hardware is asus main board with a 64 bit multicore amd processor with at least 4gb of ram and a 2 tb hard drive Ati Video, Xonar sound and a linux based OS would be AWESOME!!! That's something I would pre-order for about a G, and it would be so worth it...

Archos 9 tablet is a Digital P.O.S (Piece of S**T)
by drgnx702000 on January 30, 2012
Pros: Bluetooth and Wireless
LightweightCons: *Window 7 always comes back as not genuine
*Touch Screen Rarely Works, if it does, it is very slow

*I had to sent it back 3 times to get fixed and it came back worse every time

Summary: Do not buy this product, I even formatted the drive and tried to install my own windows 7 on it and I kept getting the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) everytime i would restart it, after having to send it back 3 time to get fixed, it still did not work right and then ARCHOS refused to send me a newer product or refund my money.
This pad pc is not what some other claim it to be be, it needs a AMD processor (it has an Intel ATOM cell phone processor)it is very slow, it goes nuts if you try to install Malwarebytes.org on it because it is full of bugs, the driver from Archos are ancient and have not been updated.
Battery life sucks on it and it drags during startup, very lousy piece of technology. -

Summary: Great product. It seemed slow at first but with a few tweaks it is running like a charm...The wireless capabilities are pretty amazing, connects to signals where other devices can barely register them. For internet, and general email while on the road this device is perfect. The touch screen is responsize and the on screen keyboard is very easy to use, Small, compact, and long lasting battery life make this product a pretty amazing piece of technology. In some reviews you may hear them taunting about it being underpowered, it is a netbook after all, not a laptop or your desktop PC. This

Sluggish and difficult to upgrade...it had potential.
by dawicepharm on May 26, 2010
Pros: The size is good and touch screen isn't too bad. The mouse is placed on the right hand side that makes it easy to manuver when holding the unit with two hands.
Cons: WAY too slow. Hard drive runs @ 4200rpm with 1 GB of ram. Windows 7 starter isn't robust enough.
Summary: Overall, Archos should have added more ram, faster hard drive (perhaps an SSD) and use a full version of Windows 7.

Awesome product!!!!
by ozzyosbourne33 on May 21, 2010
Pros: Amazing internet browsing, very speedy and smooth. Excellent media capabilities, best actually, on any tablet I've seen. Very smooth and speedy. Feels good and solid in your hand.
Cons: Battery life, glossy finish on screen.

Summary: I believe this product is amazing!!Despite what the reviews say. I think it is perfectly sized and its media capabilities are amazing, just like that of the Archos 5 and 7. And I think it's plenty fast, it's faster than any normal netbook I've ever seen. And it has a ton of storage for all of my media. And I have a ton of music and movies. It's far better than my friends iPad(the thing's terrible), and any other tablet I've used. And I love that it has Windows 7(amazing OS), instead of XP. I think it's amazing. The only area I think it could improve in is battery life.

abysmal product!
by banhxeoleo on March 13, 2010
Pros: small size
Cons: extremely slow, takes 1 minute to go from one screen to the next. would not download anything including MS office 2007, itunes, MS window 7 home premium, would not accept external DVD driver sold by Archos and said to be compatible with Archos 9.

Summary: This product is flawed. The system is so weak!!!!!!!!!!! They don't exactly tell you until you are stuck with it (I was told by their customer support that I should know it's not as strong as a laptop!). It was so slow as to take 1 minute to move from one screen to the Since it came with just window 7 starter, I bought the window 7 home premium online and tried to download to it thinking that it would help it run faster. But it would not download, staying on that download window for days..... It would not download itunes. It would not download MS office 2007. I would not run a peripheral DVD driver I bought from Archos site which guarantied me that it's compatible with this Archos 9. The design is flawed!!!!!!!!The login keyboard appear right in the center masking the window for your ID so you have either to key in blindly or move the keyboard aside and up which is not user friendly. The virtual keyboard is so big, it masks half of the screen so you have to scroll any text up to the top in order to see what you are typing in. The customer service is awful!!!!!!!!!! you have to wait an hour to get to them. Remember they don't take anything back after 14 days (eventhough their policy said 30days) In order to send the item for repair, they don't let you know their address right away, you have to email or mail in your proof of purchase, so remember to keep your proof of purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the worst PC ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Do not make the same mistake I did by bying it. This make me love my ipod-touch even more.

Summary: I purchased this unit primarliy as a media player. In that respect, the 60g HD holds lost of media files and the display is nice for preloaded movies. The visrtual keyboard is almost unuseable, however, so for email I purchased a roll-up keyboard that attaches via the USB port and it works like a charm. An iPad wannabe, this thing isn't. Bottom line - if you can live without a USB port, wait for the iPad.
