Asus Eee Pad Slider SL101 (16GB, white) price range: $669.86

The good: The Asus Eee Pad Slider SL101's keyboard mechanism is well-implemented and useful to those frustrated with typing on a tablet screen. Also, the inclusion of Mini-HDMI, a microSD card slot, USB 2.0, and the latest version of Honeycomb makes this tablet worth its price.
The bad: The Slider is bulky and heavy for a tablet and can't be detached from the keyboard plate. Also, the typing environment feels cramped and the curved design on the keyboard plate blocks the spacebar. No LED flash on the camera means no nighttime picture taking.
The bottom line: Though it prevents a "pure" tablet experience, the Asus Eee Pad Slider's built-in keyboard is a welcome feature for those who break into cold sweats whenever typing on a tablet is mentioned.

User reviews need to be moderated
by rtgavin14 on September 28, 2011
Pros: Having user reviews is great, but not moderating them is asking for trouble, i.e. the people who are writing 1/2 star reviews based their own personal opinions (this review included)
Cons: People come to CNet for information on products. When somebody blindly sees it has a 2.5 star user review, its automatically going to deter them from the product. But, none of the current reviews (mine included) are based on anybody actually using the pro

Summary: I bought the Slider for my wife because she HAD TO HAVE a keyboard. I got it and set it up for her and she loves the thing. It is exactly what she has been looking for. I personally prefer the 7 inch screen on my galaxy tab but based on how much she's been lovin me. i think she likes it.

Good idea BUT worst customer service
by mljax on May 7, 2012
Pros: Having a built-in keyboard is great. This tablet is everything you will want if you don't want an iPad and with available apps, you can access any computer from anywhere easily.
Cons: The only con was a the defective docking cable included in the box.

Summary: The BIG con is customer service refuses to replace the $2 cable unless you send them either the defective cable or the whole tablet thus eliminating your ability to use the product or be able to charge it during the replacement period no matter how long that may take. I refused this option and offered to send them their defective cable after I received a new one so I could keep using their product. They refused. So for $2, I returned the perfectly working tablet on principle as I won't deliberately own a product from such an intransigient and irrational company. The supplier wasn't too happy with ASUS either. So, be warned, if the product has a problem, you'll be dealing with customer no-service.

i'm in love!
by g33ksqu33 on April 5, 2012
Pros: i love the memory, portability and speed of which things are done. it has replaced the need of having a laptop computer. i love the sound geeks make when they see it!
Cons: a bit heavy but worth it, just the fact that i don't have to carry around a bulky laptop & accessories is great.

Summary: I bought this to replace a netbook. I needed a keyboard and this one works well once I got used to it. I am surprised at how much I use the virtual keyboard. My desktop sits unused. I bought a 16g model and memory card. I don't need the latter. Complaints about its weight are relative. Unless your are comparing, you will never notice it. This tablet and my smart phone have changed my daily life.

Pros: Screen resolution is awesome. Polaris office app is a must for school work. easy interface. super quick at everything i do. not having to carry a seperate keyboard to type is awesome. what isnt good about it.
Cons: the only problem i had at first was with the keyboard being a lil small but now ive gotten used to it and its just as easy to type on it as any other keyboard.

Summary: i got the eee slider about a month ago for school purposes. and so far it has been amazing. so much easier to setup in class cause now i dont have to pull out two things and connect my keyboard to it its already there and ready to go. the polaris office app they included is amazing i can do all my school work on there and with the keyboard it makes it easy to do it on the go instead of trying to type on a screen when your in a hurry. i dont care what any one else says this is the best thing i have bought to date for school. it has made my life a million times easier and better now that i got.
